Gornjogradskim ulicama, tu pored Vas, doista prolaze glavni junaci nekih odavno ispisanih priča: likovi iz le-gendi, ali i stvarne osobe - svi oni mali i veliki ljudi koji su obilježili zagrebačku prošlost.
The heroes of stories told long ago pass right by you on the streets of the Upper Town: characters from legends and real people too, all those ordinary and great men and women who left their mark on Zagreb’s past.

„Mando, dušo, zagrabi!“ Izvor je dobio ime Manduševac, a grad
- Zagreb.
According to legend, right here at Zagreb’s central square, a thirsty viceroy came to a spring where he saw a beauti-ful girl with a jug. He called:
‘Manda, dear, scoop me up some water!’ And so the spring was named Manduševac, and the city – Zagreb.

When Dolac market opened in 1930 it was one of the largest and most beautiful in Europe, and today it is the largest and most successful in Zagreb. The statue of a woman, a kumica with a woven basket on her head, is lasting memorial to thousands of women who trav-elled every day from Zagreb’s surroundings bringing baskets full of produce from their gardens.

Kroz jednu od najljepših zagrebačkih ulica, danas pop-ularno zvanu Tkalča, nekoć je tekao potok Medveščak, a uli-ca je održavala svoju živost u malim obrtničkim radnjama, krčmama i javnim kućama. Danas, ta ulica opuštene at-mosfere, tijekom ljeta postaje mjesto glazbe i zabave.
Once upon a time the Medve-ščak stream ran through one of the loveliest streets in Za-greb, nowadays fondly known as Tkalča. The street was buz-zing with small workshops, taverns and brothels. Nowa-days, the street has a relaxed atmosphere, and in summer is filled with music and fun.
During the Thirty Years War in the 17th century, the Cro-atian Light Cavalry, known for its exceptional heroism, joined the French Army. The martial skills and original appearance of the Croatian soldiers were confirmed with the founding of the Croatian
