• Authors are important co-teachers of writing inside our classrooms. Let’s take a peek at two different ways that teachers use authors to mentor students’ writing through whole-group mini-lessons and individual student conferences.

• Share your intriguing internet tidbits, newspaper snippets, or pithy magazine morsels. Discuss the connections (self, text, world) that you made. As you examine one another’s trash, consider the writing curriculum that can be dredged from the process.
