New Enrollment Requirements for Tricare Prime Beneficiaries

Newborns will have the 120 days “grace period” healthcare coverage in Tricare.

Once the newborn is registered in DEERS the “grace period" ends and the 90 day period for the Qualifying Life Event (QLE) starts. This QLE allows the beneficiary to enroll or change their enrollment.

The newborn will then show as TRICARE Select starting with the date of birth in DEERS.

From the day of the DEERS entry the sponsor has 90 days to enroll the newborn in Tricare Overseas Programs (TOP)‐ Prime or Prime Remote.

STEP 1:Register your newborn or adopted child in the Defense Enrollment Eligibility Reporting System (DEERS). You must enroll in DEERS for TRICARE coverage.You don't need a Social Security number to register your child in DEERS.

STEP 2 (within 90 days):Report to your TRICARE office and enroll your child into Tricare Overseas Programs (TOP)‐ Prime or Prime Remote.

What if I register my child in DEERS, but isn’t enrolled into a plan?Your child can only get care and pharmacy services at a military hospital or clinic on a space‐available basis.

• In-processing needs to be addressed for new GS employees coming to Europe.Can reps from CPAC, DRM, and DPW provide briefings on how to completedocuments (i.e. SF1190)? Provide instruction on housing options, utilities, etc.Possible windshield tour for civilians?

• Can Soldiers / Community Members use the running track at Vilseck HighSchool on Rose Barracks?

• Why did they turn the traffic light back on at gate 9? Traffic flowed much betterwith only stop signs.

• Can baby changing tables be installed in the library on Rose Barracks? (MWR)• It is very difficult to get a work order submitted by telephone. Hardly anyone

ever answers and the capability to leave a message never works. (DPW)• What is being done about the trash left in the recycling areas in Netzaberg?
