Daniel Messcher, MD, graduated from Northeastern University in Massachu-setts, majoring in Chemistry and Math-ematics. After working as a research chemist for fi ve years he attended the University of Massachusetts Medical School. Dr. Messcher completed his residency at the Eastern New Mex-ico Family Practice in Roswell, New Mexico. Dr. Messcher is board certi-fi ed in Family Medicine and serves as the medical director for both Primary Center of Live Oak and Primary Care Center of Jasper. He lives near the Su-wannee River in Live Oak with his wife and three children.

Pete Roe, Director of the Cath Lab accepted “heart scarves” from a few of the members of H2U’s Flying Needles group. The scarves will be given to patients at the Cath Lab. It’s a simple way of giving patients a little extra comfort while they undergo tests or procedures. It also will hopefully re-mind them that someone cares about them and wishes them a rapid recovery. The original thought behind Flying Needles was to give H2U members who enjoy crocheting, knitting and sewing the opportunity to get together while they worked on personal projects. However, they quickly decided to take on some group projects. So far they have made hundreds of shawls for a hospice ministry, numerous incubator blankets & baby things for Newborns in Need, helmet liners for our military serving overseas plus loads of handmade toys for the Christ-mas Dream Machine. They fi nd a great deal of joy in giving!
