WEATHERThe end of September/October is one of the most pleasant times to travel in Japan as the weather remains warm, but is no longer hot and humid.

Temperatures can reach an average high of 30 degrees. Autumn brings swirls of changing leaves with unbelievable colour that paints the hills and mountainsides of the country.

Japan has a fascinating and multifaceted culture. The country is steeped in traditions

that date back thousands of years with symbols representing these traditions situated

everywhere you turn. In stark contrast, the continual shift in fads and fashion represent

opportunity to loose yourself in modern day Japanese culture. Technology and ingenuity

formulate a society that is in a state of constant flux. Its an unbelievable experience to

be drawn in by the neon skylines of the big city to then walk only a couple of minutes

and to find yourself surrounded by tranquillity, staring at a hidden shrine where time

appears to stand still. Japans culture will take you on a journey that pushes you out of

HISTORY

Japans long recorded history as well as its profound artisitc accomplishments are

copiously detailed on display in its many museums. The pinnacle of these museums

is Tokyo national museum situated in Ueno park. This museum will give you a

comprehensive overview of Japans history as well as exposure to its world renowned

art. A trip to Japan isnt complete without visiting Hiroshima – a city with a tragic past

but a vibrant present. Today it stands as a symbol of post war pacifism and will indeed

provoke some thinking, providing a balanced perspective to your time in Japan.

with many of us already familiar with a number of traditional Japanese dishes.

However, this only represents the beginning of your culinary journey. Whether you

are after Michelin star restaurants (Tokyo boasts the most in the world) or looking for

a more authentic local dish, eating in Japan is an experience to be enjoyed and one

you will no doubt tell your friends about when back home! We recommend testing

out some of the local cuisine including; Sushi, Ramen, Tempura, Sashimi, Yakitori,

Soba and Udon

of tradition collide with ever moving elements of urban culture meaning Tokyo is

a city that is constantly on the move. This city prides itself on constant renewal

YOKOHAMA The international influences of Yokohama have created a truly unique and enjoyable city.

HOST CITIES

KOBE Perched on a hillside sloping down to the sea, Kobe is one of Japan’s most attractive and cosmopolitan cities. Also Home to the world famous Kobe Beef!

OSAKA Osaka is Japan’s second largest metropolitan area after Tokyo. The confident, stylish city is a shopping hub, with fabulous restaurants and nightlife.

OITA The vast volcanic area that occupies a greater portion of the prefectural territory boasts the abundance of natural hot springs.

AICHI Aichi is situated in the centre of Japan and is roughly divided into a mountainous, hilly area and a plain. Here you will find the city of Nagoya where Inuyama castle is located.

KUMAGAYA Labelled Japanese rugby’s ‘hallowed ground of the east’, Kumagaya has received particular recognition for the sport and is host to the spring all-Japan high school.
