All the brass is on the outside and is not comely (Isaiah 53:2b).

Isaiah 53:2b KJV

2b He hath no form nor comeliness; and when we shall see Him, there is no beauty that we should desire Him.

Page 33: 08 August 25, 2013, John 1;19-36, The Gospel Of John

However, after you enter into the tabernacle you see gold and beauty – the inside of Christ is beautiful!

Page 34: 08 August 25, 2013, John 1;19-36, The Gospel Of John

Even the materials of the tabernacle speak of Christ.

The wood speaks of His humanity and the gold, His divinity.

Page 35: 08 August 25, 2013, John 1;19-36, The Gospel Of John

White is purity, blue is promise/prophecy, purple is royalty, and red is blood. There is no black in the tabernacle because black denotes sin and judgment.

Page 36: 08 August 25, 2013, John 1;19-36, The Gospel Of John

There is much more that can be said and explored. Consider studying 1 Corinthians 10:1-11, and Hebrews 8-10 to see how the Holy Spirit develops typology and prophecy.

Page 37: 08 August 25, 2013, John 1;19-36, The Gospel Of John

Christ the Word became flesh, and dwelt among us, is not only proclaimed in the NT, but also foreshadowed in the OT, not only in direct prophecies, but also in many types and figures.

John 1:18 NASB 18 No one has seen God at any time; the only begotten God Who is in the bosom of the Father, He has explained Him.

Page 61: 08 August 25, 2013, John 1;19-36, The Gospel Of John

God, Who cannot be known unless He reveals Himself, became most fully known because Jesus explained Him. Jesus is the explanation of God.

Page 62: 08 August 25, 2013, John 1;19-36, The Gospel Of John

He is the answer to the question, “What is God like?”

In John 14:7-9, Jesus declared that truth to His disciples:

Page 63: 08 August 25, 2013, John 1;19-36, The Gospel Of John

“If you had known Me, you would have known My Father also; from now on you know Him, and have seen Him.” Philip said to Him, “Lord, show us the Father, and it is

Page 64: 08 August 25, 2013, John 1;19-36, The Gospel Of John

enough for us.” Jesus said to him, “Have I been so long with you, and yet you have not come to know Me, Philip? He who has seen Me has seen the Father; how can you say, ‘Show us the Father’?” John 14:7-9

Page 65: 08 August 25, 2013, John 1;19-36, The Gospel Of John

Explained translates a form of the verb exegeomai, from which the English word “exegesis” (the method or practice of interpreting Scripture) derives.

Page 66: 08 August 25, 2013, John 1;19-36, The Gospel Of John

Jesus is the only One qualified to exegete or interpret God to man, since “no one knows the Son except the Father; nor does anyone know the Father except the Son, and

Page 67: 08 August 25, 2013, John 1;19-36, The Gospel Of John

anyone to whom the Son wills to reveal Him” (Matthew 11:27).

Page 68: 08 August 25, 2013, John 1;19-36, The Gospel Of John

The prologue presents an introductory synopsis of John's entire gospel. It introduces themes that will be expanded throughout the rest of the book.

Page 69: 08 August 25, 2013, John 1;19-36, The Gospel Of John

None are more important than this: Jesus, Who existed in intimate fellowship with the Father from all eternity (v. 1), became flesh (v. 14), brought the full

Page 70: 08 August 25, 2013, John 1;19-36, The Gospel Of John

expression of grace and truth to mankind (v. 17), and revealed (exegeted) God to man (v. 18). How He did so will be seen in the remainder of John's gospel.

Page 71: 08 August 25, 2013, John 1;19-36, The Gospel Of John

John clearly defined the purpose in writing his gospel in John 20:31—that his readers “may believe that Jesus is the Christ, the Son of God; and that believing they may have life in His name.”

Page 72: 08 August 25, 2013, John 1;19-36, The Gospel Of John

John 1:19-36 KJV

19 And this is the record of John, when the Jews sent priests and Levites from Jerusalem to ask him, Who art thou?

Page 73: 08 August 25, 2013, John 1;19-36, The Gospel Of John

20 And he confessed, and denied not; but confessed, I am not the Christ.21 And they asked him, What then? Art thou Elias? And he saith, I am not.

Page 74: 08 August 25, 2013, John 1;19-36, The Gospel Of John

Art thou that prophet? And he answered, No.22 Then said they unto him, Who art thou? that we may give an answer to them that sent us. What sayest thou of thyself?

Page 75: 08 August 25, 2013, John 1;19-36, The Gospel Of John

23 He said, I am the voice of one crying in the wilderness, Make straight the way of the Lord, as said the prophet Esaias. 24 And they which were sent were of the Pharisees.

Page 76: 08 August 25, 2013, John 1;19-36, The Gospel Of John

25 And they asked him, and said unto him, Why baptizest thou then, if thou be not that Christ, nor Elias, neither that prophet?

Page 77: 08 August 25, 2013, John 1;19-36, The Gospel Of John

26 John answered them, saying, I baptize with water: but there standeth one among you, whom ye know not;

Page 78: 08 August 25, 2013, John 1;19-36, The Gospel Of John

27 He it is, who coming after me is preferred before me, whose shoe's latchet I am not worthy to unloose.

28 These things were done in Bethabara beyond Jordan, where John was baptizing.

29 The next day John seeth Jesus coming unto him, and saith, Behold the Lamb of God, which taketh away the sin of the world.
