Prefabricated steel framed buildings

Uniframe Group

The Uniframe Group consists of Unison, Blue Star Steel and Magboard Corporation.

From various manufacturing facilities supervised by Uniframe, we can provide low cost, prefabricated,

fast-track multi-story solutions that can be built in days and weeks instead of months.

The Uniframe Group has been formed to supply a unique engineered building system that is specifically

designed for each client’s project and provides the client with:

• Prefabricated load bearing wall units

• Prefabricated floor systems using floor trusses

• Prefabricated roof systems

• Fire proof magnesium oxide wall board for walls, floors and roof

• Designed for seismic and wind loads.

All delivered to the project site ready for installation.

Uniframe provides turnkey design and installation drawings for all components of the building.

Unison’s steel frames buildings have two methods of delivery and installation: Volumetric modular

(prefinished) units; and prefabricated (kit set) units. The type used is determined by the clients

requirements and in country conditions.

Page 8: 07000 uni-015-50-0013 unison capability profile - prefabricated building solutions (gmena)

Prefabricated steel framed buildings

Volumetric modular (prefinished) units

Prefinished units are complete and are transported as one unit – they are

“plug and play”.

They can also be supplied complete with all furniture and fittings.

The units can be stacked vertically and horizontally.

Prefabricated (kit set) units

Uniframe has developed and engineered a unique trussed design

construction method using light gauge steel and magnesium

oxide board that allowing us to build from single story up to

six storeys or more without the need for any structural steel,

concrete or block while achieving superior seismic and wind load

ratings.

Our systems are designed to be built with minimal skilled labour

and easy to follow installation drawings demonstrating the correct

method for connection/erection methods.

MagWall Structural Insulated Panels

• Structural Insulated Panels (SIPs) have been used worldwide since

the 1950’s:

− Lower lifetime and energy costs

− High speed of site construction

− Lower total installation cost.

• Compared to tradition SIP systems, MagWall has:

− A lower finished cost

− No need fire, water, mold protection (inherent fire rating)

− No need to drywall the interior

− Ability to directly apply external and internal finishes.

• Significant structural and assembly testing.

Page 13: 07000 uni-015-50-0013 unison capability profile - prefabricated building solutions (gmena)

Energy efficient and environmentally friendly

• Our housing designs create an insulated “thermal block”

− So, minimal cooling (or heating) are required to maintain a desired

temperature

− Substantial reduction in energy consumption costs from heating and cooling

• Wall and ceiling panels are extremely well insulated

− True R 19 insulation coefficient

− Fewer thermal bridges

− Less air infiltration

− Better interior environment

• Entire homes can be 9 star green energy rated buildings which are world leading in

energy efficiency

• Highly durable with a very long product life

− Structurally very strong

− Resists hurricanes, earthquakes, floods

− Impact resistant

− Straight, plumb, air-tight walls

− No rot or mould in panels

− Longer lasting houses

− Lower life time costs due to lower maintenance

• Magboard has a low carbon footprint

− Less materials

− Dramatically reduced construction waste

Page 14: 07000 uni-015-50-0013 unison capability profile - prefabricated building solutions (gmena)

Cost competitive and affordable housing

• Many design options:

− Single storey to medium rise residential

− Commercial and industrial buildings

− Full flexibility in interior layout

− World class energy performance .

• Installed cost very competitive in volume projects:

− Cost equivalence to any local manufacture

− [Note: This system is cost competitive in China against the local market!]

− Competitive materials costs.

• Manufacturing plants can be set up quickly and cheaply anywhere in the world

for the production of the light gauge steel, MagBoard and MagWall:

− High speed of manufacture / High volume output

− Scalable production

− Low capital costs for setup

− Adds to local economy.

• Faster construction cycle:

− Minimal labour skills needed / Lower labour costs

− Direct application of paints finishes

− Rapid construction cycle

− Consistent quality

− Lower finishing costs with better results

− Less construction waste.

MagBoard (MgO) technical details

Magnesium Oxide Board (MgO Board) is a versatile material commonly used throughout Asia for

residential and commercial construction. It is a structurally rated sheathing material that looks like

drywall, although a great deal harder, and is installed much like OSB, drywall or cement board with no

special requirements. It can be used for exterior and interior wall sheathing, roof and floor decking and

wet walls and readily accepts direct application of traditional finishing materials such as paint, stucco or

drywall texture. As a silicate free material, Magboard has numerous physical properties very important

to builders and their customers.

Magboard has significantly improved the structural strength of common MgO board to create a

product that can be used as a structural sheathing like Plywood or OSB.

Rated as a non combustible material (ASTM E 136) with zero flame spread and zero smoke

generation (ASTM E 84) in various assemblies with up to a 2 hour fire rating.

No rot, no mould, no termites, non-combustible: Hard to achieve with common materials and

practices.

A hospital grade material approved as underlayment and tile backer board.

It has undergone almost three years of rigorous testing that certifies its structural and physical

properties (to ASTM standards by the world leading testing services such as Intertek NTA, Inc. and

The National Tile Council).

Builders can eliminate many sub-assemblies designed to protect OSB or other sheathing materials.

The use of one product to replace many saves time, lowers cost and helps the environment.

Magnesium Oxide is among the most abundant minerals on the planet. Magboard is completely

recyclable and there are no special requirements for waste disposal.

Because it is cured at room temperatures during manufacturing, its carbon footprint is lower than

cement board or drywall.

The life cycle performance of Magboard, the reduction in construction materials, and leaving forests

intact make Magboard good for the builder, good for the customer and good for the environment.
