Serial number requirement

Definition:

Character string that you give to a product (in addition to a product number) todistinguish a single unit from all of the other pieces. The combination of product and

serial number is unique.

Serial number management in very comprehensive and flexible solution. It provides

different possibility of setup at product level depending on the requirement of the business

(serial number requirement)

B Serial Numbers on Warehouse Number Level

C Serial Numbers in Inventory Management

Synchronization of Serial Number and Equipment

Assign a serial number profile to material that is to be serialized.

Individual serial number profile can be assigned to a piece of material per plant.

Serial number of Material master record and Equipment number can be

synchronized at the time of goods receipt. This is done by setting Serialization

Indicator of the material master.

By synchronizing the serial number and equipment number, you can make serial

numbers unique for all materials.

The equipment number is by definition unique at client level.

Serial Numbers in Inventory Management

It is possible to assign serial numbers in the event of goods movements for

individual pieces of material.

All types of stock (for example, unrestricted-use stock, stock in quality

inspection, blocked stock returns, stock in transfer, stock in transit, blocked

stock)

All special stocks (for example, open order quantity, project stock, customer

stock and vendor consignment stock)

Serial numbers can be assigned for goods receipts, goods issues, stocktransfers and stock transport orders.

You use the serial number usage in the serial number profile to control whether:

The serial number must be entered forevery goods movement, or

The serial number cannot be entered forany goods movement

Synchronization of Equipment and Asset

Further, Equipment Master can be synchronized with asset.

Equipment master has to be updated in edit mode to generate a new Asset

number. Following fields are entered to trigger creation of Asset:

Company Code

Object Type

Upon saving the equipment master, a new asset will be created and equipment

will be assigned to the asset

Changes to equipment master can be synchronized with asset by using two methods

Direct Synchronization: Immediate update of asset upon changes to equipment

record

Update Workflow: Upon changes to equipment record a workflow notification is sent

to FAA. FAA has confirms the changes to allow updated to asset master.
