SEE AND BE SEEN. Flanking the bold crosshair grille of its sculpted snout are

Caliber’s large wraparound headlamps. Seamlessly stretching from the front grille to

the fenders, they gleam with pronounced crystalline appearance.

ON THE EDGE. Caliber’s tail lamps continue the style established up front with the

Herculean headlamps. Big enough to all but melt the paint off cars that pull up behind

ANTI-LOCK BRAKE SYSTEM. New state-of-the-art electronics allow Caliber’s available Anti-lock Brake System (ABS) to provide faster response times than previous systems. ABS, which is standard on Caliber R/T and Caliber models equipped with the CVT2 (available on all models), helps prevent wheel lock, increasing the driver’s ability to maintain directional control when braking on slippery surfaces.

ALL-WHEEL DRIVE. When was the last time you had an electronically controlled coupling? A first for any Chrysler Group Passenger Car, Caliber R/T with available AWD takes control with an electronically controlled all-wheel-drive system with variable torque output. ADVANCED MULTISTAGE AIR BAGS*. Multistage driver and front passenger air bags, with the front passenger Occupant Classification System (OCS)** for controlled air bag deployment, are standard on all Caliber models. Same goes for a driver’s inflatable knee blocker. Side-curtain air bags* are also standard across all trim levels, extending added protection and peace of mind to both rows of outboard passengers.

IT’S A CASE OF MORE USING LESS. More world-

class engineering, that is. Caliber’s second

generation Continuously Variable Transaxle

(CVT2) allows the engine to always run at the

optimum rpm with the electronically controlled

throttle body opening adjusting accordingly (think computer-controlled

car wash spray gun nozzle, then add gas). The result – ideal engine

speeds and the best fuel economy for every power requirement. The

CVT2 also allows the fuel injection to remain off as the transaxle works its

way down to what would be the lowest ratio, saving gas in yet another way

that’s totally imperceptible to everyone onboard.

IT’S MOVIN’, IT’S GROOVIN’. The CVT2’s pulleys have V-shaped

grooves that seat the steel-spined connecting belt. When actuated

by hydraulic pressure, one side of the pulley moves, increasing or

decreasing the distance between the two sides, thereby changing

the ride height of the belt on the pulley walls

to select the perfect “gear” ratio for your driving

speed. Translation: cutting-edge engineering

that delivers smooth performance and fuel

efficiency your wallet will really appreciate.

LIFE ISN’T THE ONLY THING FULL OF VARIABLES.Sure, you might not get excited about varying the working diameters of pulleys in a transaxle, but that doesn’t prevent the gearheads at the Chrysler
