Most, if not all, wars have had religion as the basis for the start of them. Religions teach that their group is the one that is anointed of the creator and subsequently if you are not for us you must against us. Their holy books also spell out that anyone that is not part of their belief system is the enemy of "God" and consequently are ordered to go to war with the pagans, infidels, or goyim in what are believed to be holy wars with the goal of ridding the earth of evil people. The Golden Rule on the other hand does not work or operate like religions do, in fact if the Golden Rule were to be practiced no war could or would ever start because most people do not want to kill or destroy themselves along with their families. No prophet, saint, pope, bishop, imam, or savior that promoted war could ever get a following by simply comparing what is being taught to the Golden Rule, in fact anyone promoting conflict would simply be ignored and felt sorry for.
