    59% Pakistanis say there is a very high chance that they will vote

    on Election Day. GILANI POLL/GALLUP PAKISTANIslamabad, May 06, 2013

    According to a Gilani Research Foundation Survey carried out by Gallup Pakistan, 59% Pakistanis say

    there is a very high chance that they will vote on Election Day.

    A nationally representative sample of adult men and women (18 years or 18+) from across the fourprovinces was asked What are the chances that you will go to vote on Election Day? Responding to this, 59%said very high chance, 28% said somewhat chance and 12% said no chance at all. However, 1% did notgive a response.

    Comparing between urban and rural respondents, more rural respondents said there is a very high chance

    they would vote on Election Day (64%) than urban respondents (49%). This is consistent with turnout rates inPakistans previous 9 elections where turnout in rural areas was higher than turnout in urban areas.

    The study was released by Gilani foundation and carried out by Gallup Pakistan, the Pakistani affiliate ofGallup International. The recent survey was carried out among a sample of 2641 men and women in rural andurban areas of all four provinces of the country, during April 15, 2013 April 21, 2013. Error margin isestimated to be approximately 2-3 per cent at 95% confidence level.
