BIG BANG DATA SINGAPORE
LAW OF THE LAND: HIGHLIGHTS OF SINGAPORE’S
CONSTITUTIONAL DOCUMENTS SINGAPORE
Singapore is Big Bang Data’s latest stop in its
multi-city tour across three continents. Hailing
from Centre de Cultura Contemporània de
Barcelona (CCCB) and Fundación Telefónica
in Spain, the thought-provoking exhibition
explored the phenomenon of data explosion
and transformation in the digital age through
large-scale immersive installations, historical
artefacts and contemporary artworks.
Together with the exhibition’s co-curators,
Olga Subiros and Jose Luis de Vicente,
ArtScience Museum specially curated a section
of the exhibition to tell the story of Singapore’s
unique relationship with data. Kingsmen
explored methods such as the fabrication of
large vinyl-cut wall murals instead of direct
print to form the canvas for the exhibition,
resulting in compliments from visitors.
Housed within the National Gallery Singapore,
Law of the Land: Highlights of Singapore’s Constitutional Documents introduces the
rich history of the republic’s constitutional
development from its founding as a British
settlement in 1819 to its emergence as a
sovereign republic in 1965. Visitors to the
exhibition will discover rare constitutional
documents from the library and national
archives, each capturing a significant moment
in Singapore’s legal history and journey to
independence.
What is Not Visible is Not Invisible broadly

through selected artworks from the French
Regional Collections of Contemporary Art.
The title and design of this exhibition takes
inspiration from the artwork of the same
title by French artist Julien Discrit. The
visual paradox initiated in this modest yet
profound work sets the premise for the deep-
seeded themes that resonate throughout the
exhibition. The recreation of environments in
unassuming spaces creates new perspectives
and transports visitors into a new state of mind.
