WEDNESDAY, MAY 21, 2014SHEEP AND LAMB AUCTION

STATE AND FEDERAL REPORTING Compared to last week: Slaughter lambs mostly steady. Feeder lambs were 5.00 - 6.00 higher on a very thin test. Slaughter ewes were mostly steady. Kid goats traded steady on a very thin test. Nannies/does traded 3.00 – 5.00 higher. Bucks/billies and wethers were too thinly traded for an adequate market trend. Trade activity was moderate on moderate buyer demand. In the sheep supply 16% slaughter lambs and 32% feeder lambs, 44% slaughter ewes and bucks with the balance being replacement ewes. The goat consisted of 62% slaughter kids, 22% slaughter nannies, 16% slaughter billies and wethers. Sheep and lambs sold on a per cwt basis and goats sold on a per head basis unless otherwise noted.

FRIDAY, MAY 23, 2014SLAUGHTER COW AND BULL

AUCTION RESULTSNo market trend this week. First major holiday weekend of the year curtailed any plans for shipping cattle. Many ranchers have plans to brand and

vaccinate during this long weekend. Not enough beef cattle to test the market. Slaughter and feeder bulls were dollars higher and in great demand by buyers in attendance. Holsteins were in short supply.
