oGIIP (scf) = 43560 x A x h x GC x N/G x phi x Sg x Bgi Where, o STOIIP [stock tank barrels] o GIIP [standard cubic feet] o 7758 = Conversion factor (acre-ft * 7758 = barrels) o 43560 = Conversion factor (acre-ft * 43560 = scf) o A = Area [acres] o h = Gross pay thickness (feet) o GC = Geometric Correction Factor (decimal) o N/G = Net Reservoir Pay to Gross Reservoir Pay thickness proportion (decimal) o phi = Porosity of net reservoir rock (decimal) o So = Oil saturation , oil-filled portion of this porosity (decimal) o Sg = Gas saturation , gas-filled portion of this porosity (decimal) o 1/Boi = Oil Formation Volume Factor (decimal). Expresses the change in oil volume between reservoir and
standard conditions at surface (unit in reservoir barrels / stock tank barrels) o Bgi = Gas Formation Volume Factor (decimal). Expresses the change in gas volume between reservoir and standard
conditions at surface (unit in standard cubic feet / reservoir cubic feet)
• If the metric system is being used, a conversion factor of 6.289808 can be used to convert cubic metres to stock tank barrels.
• 1 cubic metre container would hold 6.289808 barrels of oil. • For gas, 1 cubic metre container would hold 35.315 cubic feet of gas.

• Exercise #A (40 mins): You will each receive an A4 size Base Map, observe the information on the map. You are also provided a Seismic Marker Horizon TWT Isochron Map of the same scale, and a
Seismic Stacking Velocity Data, tabulation & x-y plot. Using the above information, generate a Horizon Marker Depth Structure Map and draw these
depth contours onto an A4 tracing paper with a carbon pencil. Label the Depth Contours appropriately.
• Exercise #B (5 mins): How would you describe this trap style? What is the crestal depth value? What is the possible spill-points and its values? What is the Structural Relief of the trap?
• Exercise #C (15 mins):
This trap is undrilled, what is the Prospective Resource (STOIIP) volume in this trap? You may elect to do either a Minimum Case, Most Like Case or Maximum Case.
o Area = Measure your choice of Trap Closure, use the horizontal map scale. o Gross pay thickness = Assume a thickness range of 25 – 75 m tvt (true vertical thickness) o Estimate of Geometric Correction factor = 0.6 – 0.9 o Net Reservoir to Gross Reservoir proportion = 50 - 90% o Porosity of net reservoir rock = 15 - 25% o Water Saturation = 35 – 65% o Oil Formation Volume Factor , 1/Boi = 0.72 stb/rb
