To provide hands on experience and enhance the understanding onthe principles of gas meter calibration using the reference meterconcept. The system used in this experiment is theSOLTEQ/CL /!"!#/$$ Calibration Station.

    2+0 #ntro u*tion

The calibration process as conducted in this experiment follo%s theinternational standards as practiced by the industry. The experienceand exposure gained from doing this experiment %ill enhance theunderstanding of gas meter design and operation.

&n this particular experiment' system stabili(ation is closely lin)ed%ith the time period and steady state process. &n order to reachstabili(ed supply of the compressed air medium' buffering is re*uiredto ensure consistent supply by maintaining constant do%nstreamdemand. &f large fluctuation occurs in the do%nstream demand'stability might not be reached. y ensuring sufficient gas supply andappropriate flo% control' operation accuracy and verification of gasmeter should be achieved.

&t is important to remember that since the supply pressure by theportable gas cylinder is relatively high' pressure regulator must beemployed and appropriate safety precaution exercised. The controlof opening and closing of the isolation valve should be madecarefully.

The second stage regulator is employed to ensure gas supply doesnot exceed the maximum operating pressure of %et type gas meterto about "# + %.c.. Touch, screen -C installed should be operated onlyafter basic operation of the system is thoroughly understood.

lo% control is by means of using the appropriate hand valves. Eachpressure sensing line should be made up to al%ays in the openingposition. The closing and opening of isolation hand valves shouldfollo% the instruction belo%.
