Te University of North exas Distinguished Lecture Series was created in2007 with the primaryobjective of providing the university and Denton community with a variety ofdistinguished lectures and speakers in an effort to bring interest visibility, andadded prestige to the university.

Te UN Distinguished Lecture Series is managed by six students who areselected by the UN Student Government Association, three faculty repre-sentatives chosen by the Faculty Senate, three staff representatives appointedby the UN Staff Council and one permanent ex official faculty and/or staffmember is designated by the Student Affairs Vice President to serve as anadministrative assistant to the committee. Students are given the opportunity to vote for the category that they would

most like to hear a lecture on. Tese categories include range of topics fromthe arts (film, V, music, dance, etc.), social issues, technology, business, sci-ence, and more. Te committee then uses this information to select speakerswithin these categories whom reflect a wide public reflection and appeal. Inpast years, the Series has brought popular public figures like Robert F. Ken-nedy, singer John Legend, Bill Nye, Condoleezza Rice, Steve Wozniak andGeorge W. Bush.

Our proposal is intended to increase the amount of student participation for

all of the speaking events. By the end of our campaign we hope to gain at leastone permeant sponsor for the Distinguished Lecture Series in order to in-crease funding and to bring more and higher profiles speakers to campus.

Our vision is to create an exciting and fun brand image of the DistinguishedLecture Series so students will be more willing to participate in speakingevents. Our strategies and tactics will focus heavily on increasing student in-volvement in all areas of the series.

Te students, especially incoming freshman, are the target audience. Gettingstudents involved with the Series especially when they first arrive will help usincrease student participation.
