    II. GENERAL INFORMATION

    1. Description

1.1. HELIOS infrared heaters are dark gas-fired infra-red heaters intended for ecological heating of halls. Categories of the appliances - II2H3P, II2H3B/P, version B22, C12, C32.

NOX3 emission (according to EN 416-1/A1).

Normal operating fuel for the infrared heaters of HELIOS:

    Natural gas - ZP (G20) Propane - P (G31) Propane-butane - PB (G31/G30).

1.2. HELIOS infrared heaters in the standard version are designed for installation in an environment protected against the weather effects. HELIOS infrared heaters, as a closed appliance in version C, can be installed in normal areas as well as in the areas which are intended for parking and maintenance of vehicles. The second option should be done after appropriate assessment. The infrared heaters must not be installed in individual, row and collective garages (in parking spaces and internal communications for vehicles) or in the garages for motor vehicles intended for transporting flammable liquids and finally in the areas of petrol filling stations which are fitted with stands for filling petrol to vehicles. The infrared heaters must not be installed in areas with potential risk of fire or explosion or in the areas with high content of combustible dust

1.3. Description of the HELIOS infrared heater function

1.3.1. Operation of the infrared heater is controlled by the automatic device located in the burner box. If the burner box includes a mounted differential pressure switch (gas manostat) that monitors the operating pressure of gas within the distribution, power is conducted through the switch. If the required gas pressure in the distribution is not present, the infrared heater does not work.

1.3.2. If the heater is equipped with gas manostat and if gas pressure in the distribution is in order, there should be an automatic check-out of the air manostat start position performed after connecting to the mains. Then the outlet ventilator should be started.

1.3.3. After starting the ventilator and subsequent evoking of the vacuum in the burners chamber, the differential air manostat shout be turn on, i.e. the manostat which senses the pressure difference of air caused by the outlet ventilator.

1.3.4. With activating the manostat, the ventilation time begins to run (about 40 sec), i.e. the time which is used to vent outlet exhaust pipe and own heating tube.

1.3.5. After finishing the period of ventilation, the electromagnetic double valve is opened and gas enters to the burner. Simultaneously, the ignition device is automatically put into operation

1.3.6. Ignition of the gas mixture in the burner is registered by ionization electrode.

1.3.7. If the escaping gas mixture in the burner is not ignited within 5 seconds, the device is put into a fault condition - light of FAILURE goes on and the inlet valve closes down.

1.3.8. Restarting is possible only after unlocking the condition of FAILURE, according to the automatic device used, either by disconnection and reconnection to the mains, or by pressing the RESET button on the control box.

1.3.9. After putting the burner into operation and igniting the gas mixture, the light of Operation goes up.

1.4. If is not noticed other way, all dimensions and weight are in meters and kilograms.

    2. Design

2.1. The infrared heaters are available in one variant according to the type of burner box: - 10,20,30,40,50 - separate burner and exhaust boxes

2.2. Infrared heaters of the performance series of 10, 20, 30, 40, 50. They are available in several design configurations which vary in performance and design of

the burner box, construction of the reflector and shape of heating pipe.

2.2.1. According to the burner box

infrared heaters of single-stage U,I or two stage UD, ID. There is one-stage or two-stage controlling of the atmospheric burner available. Infrared

heater with a single-stage burner operates in the on-off regime, the infrared heater with two-stage burner operates in the mode of off-reduced power- full power.

The main advantages of a two-stage burner control include reducing the frequency of switching the burner during the heating season, more uniform final temperature of the heated area and lower power consumption.

Open or closed gas appliance Basic version of the burner box - open gas appliance - inflow of combustion air from the

heated area through the hole in upper casing of the burner box. Special design of the burner box fitted with a neck for suction of the combustion air - closed

gas appliance - intake of the combustion air from outside. Special design of the burner box is made with a socket at the top of the burner box. This socket is used to connect the air-duct.

2.2.2. According to the design of reflector

not insulated: Ceiling installed infrared heaters - marking U, UD, I, ID wall installedinfrared heaters - marking U/15, UD/15, I/15, ID/15

    insulated: ceiling installed infrared heaters - marking U+, UD+, I+, ID+ wall installed infrared heaters - marking U/15+, UD/15+, I/15+, ID/15+.

2.2.3. According to the shape of the heating tube

    - with a reversing heating tube - marking U, UD - single-tube (linear) - marking I, ID.

Heating tubes of the gas infrared heaters are either U-shaped, when the temperature distribution along the heaters length is almost uniform, or I-shaped when it is necessary to consider the temperature decrease along the length.

    4. Installation

4.1 General instruction The infrared heaters should be installed in accordance with applicable standards and

regulations. When being in heavy and dusty operations, it is advised to install the air intake duct for combustion from outside environment.

Installing the infrared heater in areas with potential risk of explosion (e.g. storage of petrol, solvents, places with chlorine vapours or compounds containing chlorine, or places with high content of combustible dust, sawdust, etc.) must be assessed by the competent authorities according to existing regulations. Using the heaters in a corrosive environment is prohibited! Installation of the appliance must be performed by qualified personnel who is eligible to such installation, according to the manufacturers instructions and applicable standards .

The manufacturer is not responsible for damage caused by improper installation.

4.2. Policy for installation: a) Conditions for connecting the infrared heaters to the gas distribution and electricity network

are given in Chapter 9.1. and 9.2. b) Design and installation of flue line must conform to applicable standards. Examples of the

type installations are listed in Chapter 9.3. The amount of combustion air for the infrared heaters must meet applicable standards.

    c) The height of suspension of the heaters is specified according to calculation program of Hefaistos of Mandk Company, a.s.

    d) The minimum space for installation of the infrared heater: Installation of the heater must be carried out in such way so that an adequate space for

servicing and adjustment is maintained. e) Specification of a safe distance of the heaters and the duct system from surfaces of building

materials must comply with standards and regulations of the manufacturer.4.3. The minimum safe distances of the infrared heaters from walls, ceilings and flammable objects:

The surface temperature of the radiant tube, according to the type of the infrared heater, reaches the level of about 500 C. The temperature of flue gases at the ventilator outlet reaches

  • TPM 049/05-IR

    10

the level of even 200 C, according to the type.

4.4. Special cases of installation When installing the heater over the crane runway, it is necessary to count with the protection

of electrical installation of the crane from excessive radiating. If the heater is installed in gyms, we recommend installation of safety nets - it can be ordered in the company of Mandk, a.s. If the heater is stored on pallets, it is necessary to ensure observance of safe distances from flammable objects. When installing the outer suction intake, it is necessary to ensure that the inlet opening is not placed in a position where it could be blocked or in a position where the polluted air could be sucked in (combustion, explosive dust, flammable gases, etc.).

4.5. Ways of suspension The infrared heaters shall be hanging on a suitably sized construction on chains and carbines or

string or threaded rods. According to the figure, it is necessary to secure the infrared heater (on at least two suspension points) in an appropriate manner, so that the heater cannot experience its turning. Due to thermal expansion, the heater must not be installed as fixed on supporting structure.

    9.1. Gas connection

9.1.1 Connecting of the infrared heaters is performed in accordance with current standard for gas supply - gas ducts in buildings - operational requirements.

9.1.2 There must be stable and unwavering gas pressure (ZP, P-PB), according to Table 1, guaranteed in the pipe system during the operation of the infrared heaters.

9.1.3 According to existing regulations, the pipe system must be ended by a gas ball valve near the place of the infrared heater connection of cca 0.5 m (Figure 29, Figure 30). The connection itself of the infrared heater to the gas pipeline is done by using a flexible gas hose. The inlet pipe for the gas connection is terminated by outer thread:

    -1/2 infrared heaters of the performance class of 10, 20, 30, 40 and 50

9.1.4 Since the hose withstands the temperatures of max. 100 C, it is necessary to avoid any contact of the hose with the appliance outside the hose connection point. The conduct lines must be led in such manner so that any contact with direct flame or radiant heat is avoided.

9.1.5 Connecting the infrared heater must be performed only by the organizations which has the appropriate permission. The gas hose is subject to periodic revisions like the gas distribution devices. It is necessary to protect the hoses from mechanical stresses and aggressive substances. The hose must not be subjected to excessive tension.
