Alloy Chain Slings Grade T(80) & Grade V(100)Bullivants has been assembling and supplying chain slings for over 100 years with an outstanding record for safety. Chain slings are manufactured in accordance with Australian Standard AS3775 and AS3776 using quality lifting grade components. All slings are supplied with a WLL tag fitted.Chain slings can be made to any configuration. Variations include the number of legs, the length of the legs and the fittings attached to the master links and chain legs. The useful life of alloy chain slings is considerable, but it can easily be extended by observing the following:Care • Store chain slings on A-frames or wall racks in a clean dry place. • Lightly oil chains before prolonged storage. • Never heat treat alloy chain or fittings.Use • Always visually inspect that a chain sling is free from damage or wear before use. • Ensure the weight of the load is known and is evenly distributed on the sling legs. • Ensure that the chain is free of twists and is protected from any sharp corners on the load. • Commence the lift slowly, taking up the slack gradually. Avoid shock loads. • When lowering, avoid the possibility of crushing the chain by ensuring the load does not land on it. Use packing, timber or similar.InspectionIt is important to inspect chain slings regularly and to keep a record for each sling. • Clean the chain thoroughly. • Lay the chain out on a clean surface or hang it up in a well lit area. • Every chain link should be individually inspected for any signs of wear, twisting, stretching, nicks, or gouging and any worn link measured to determine degree of wear using Vernier Calipers. • Master links and hooks should be inspected for any sign of wear at their load bearing points and for any signs of distortion, such as widening of hook throat opening. • Coupling links should be inspected for any signs of wear at their load bearing points, for excessive play of the load pin within the body halves and for impaired rotation of the body halves around the load pin. • Chain links or fittings having any defects should be clearly marked to indicate rejection and the chain sling should be withdrawn from service until properly repaired and retested prior to returning to service. • Slings that have damaged fittings may be repaired on-site by replacing the fittings (note: when reassembling coupling links it is recommended that a new pin and stud assembly be used), but must be proof tested after any modifications other than replacing safety latches that are not an integral part of a hook in accordance with AS3775.2.Remember - Every link must be examined.Chain Slings should be inspected periodically by a competent person, in accordance with AS3775.

Notes:1. Some shortening devices, such as grab hooks, derate the WLL for the sling by 25%. Other shortening devices such as shortening hooks and grab hooks with cradle confi guration, may not derate the WLL for the sling. Advice regarding the appropriate deration should be sought by the manufacturer.2. The determination of the angle of the multi-leg sling is the largest included angle at the apex of the confi guration.3. Reeved slings and basket slings, in a two leg confi guration have a maximum angle for use of 60°.4. To ensure that an appropriately rated master link is used for the 2 leg basket sling, the master link to be used shall be a master link of an appropriate WLL and with intermediate links. This ensures that the factor of 2.25 can be accommodated and that there is no overcrowding with back hooking.

Gunnebo GrabiQ Chain SlingsThe Gunnebo GrabiQ sling system is designed to improve and make your lifting as quick and easy as possible.GrabiQ Means: • 25% additional strength in the new grade 10 material. • All top assemblies consist of no more than three components. • Shortening function of chain legs is integral with no extra components. One of the main merits of the GrabiQ system is that the work involved in connecting, adjusting and checking the lift takes less time and can be carried out more easily. The already included shortening function means that a four leg chain sling previously required up to thirteen different top components now needs only three using the GrabiQ system. All GrabiQ components are uniformly marked with the equivalent chain size, grade, traceability code, manufacturers name and designation, for positive identification.GrabiQ For SafetyIn lifting applications not all the legs of slings are used for lifting a load. The remaining legs are often hanging idle which can cause snagging or a potential injury to users with the GrabiQ range you can easily remove idle legs.GrabiQ Making It EasyWith the use of the GrabiQ WLL tags the correct information is provided on the sling tag no matter which sling leg combination is used. The correct WLL information is available for the user.GrabiQ For WHSThe weight of a multi-leg chain sling is considerable and in some cases can require more than one person to assist with connection. The GrabiQ sling range provides for easier handling through the reduction of components required and the option to remove idle sling legs easily.GrabiQ For VersatilityEvery GrabiQ sling has a shortening function built in to enable you to safely adjust headroom and ensure load is balanced.Working Load Limits (tonnes) - Grade V(100) GrabiQ Slings

GrabiQ Flexileg SlingsGrabiQ FlexiLeg is a flexible range of chain sling solutions with instant leg interchange, where one single master link and a combination of five legs replaces four slings, which is equal to ten legs with the traditional system (a 50% reduction!). By using unique features of the GrabiQ range, we have increased the flexibility of lifting with chain slings even further.

Synthetic SlingsCare & Use • Never overload equipment • Do not use if WLL tag is removed or illegible. • Inspect sling for damage prior to use. • Do not use if there is any sign of cut webbing, snagging, heat or chemical damage, excessive wear, damaged seams, any other defects or presence of grit, abrasive materials or other harmful matter. • Do not tie knots in sling webbing. • Protect sling webbing from sharp edges. Use protective sleeves. • Do not expose sling to temperatures above 90°C. • Do not allow abrasive or other damaging grit to penetrate fibres. • Consult with manufacturer’s recommendations before immersing a sling in a chemical solution. • Keep away from strong alkalis and phenolic compounds.InspectionSynthetic slings should be inspected for the following prior to use: • One major disadvantage of woven webbing slings is that when used to lift loads such as concrete slabs, grit can penetrate the sling causing internal fibre damage, which is not always obvious. • Internal wear, caused by repeated flexing, particularly where particles of grit have penetrated into the fibres. • Damage to a fixed protective coating or sleeve can allow abrasive grit easy access to the sling fibres.

• Melting or shrinkage of fibres due to exposure to high temperatures. Remember that high temperatures can result from friction as well as from a hot environment. • Prolonged exposure to ultra violet light, generally from sunlight, will weaken synthetic fibres. This may be indicated by powdering of the outer layer. • Chemical attack may also cause fibres to break down and soften. Surface fibres may be plucked or rubbed off and there may be local stiffening of the sling.Operators should refer to the manufacturer’s specification criteria and the appropriate standards. There are two types of Flat Slings available:1. Double and single ply are standard.2. Endless and four ply are also available. • Total sizing flexibility to suit the exact requirement. • Wide, flat load bearing surface. • Sleeving can be wider than sling. • Lifts smooth or fragile objects without risk or damage. • Wide choice of lifting modes. • High strength to weight ratio. • Colour coded for positive identification. • Light and flexible for good access in awkward locations. • Anti-abrasion protection available. • Anti-cutting protection available. • Conforms to Australian Standards AS1353.

Secutex Synthetic Clip-on Sling Protective Sleeves: Unit of Measure - Each

It is recommended that a form of protective sleeving is used in conjunction with synthetic slings when lifting objects with rough surfaces, which are likely to abrade the webbing; sharp or jagged edges, can cut the webbing. Protective sleeving will increase the working life of synthetic lifting slings. To achieve desired performance protective sleeves should: • Be fitted correctly over the sling. Ensure the width of the sleeve is compatible with the synthetic sling to which it is being applied. • Be positioned correctly around the load. • Be selected to suit the application.

Superflex Slings with Steel FerrulesThis is our double swage technology applied to Superflex Slings - the steel ferrule system, following on from original conceptual work done by Raymond McLaren in the 1980’s.Our new system has the following advantages: • The ferrule is 18 percent smaller in diameter than equivalent aluminium ones (Talurit system) • The sling is entirely made of steel. Thus it can be used in maritime and caustic environments such as found in alumina smelters and similar • The tapered end neatly covers the wire ends, eliminating the main hazard in using slings, that is cutting hands on the sharp wire ends protruding from the ferrule • Four inspection holes provide the capability to see the wire ends from any side of the ferrule, as per the requirements of AS1666. • The ferrule is also chamfered at the throat end, thus providing a sling that is easier to use in tight places. • Stainless steel ferrules can be made to the same dimensions when required for special purposes. • The system is scalable, so providing the capability for the manufacture of larger Superflex Slings in future. • The Double Swage Process delivers EXTREME SAFETY as well as a high resultant strength - it is at least as secure as a hand splice, but the mechanical joint generates a higher UTS than a splice can. • It provides a true centreline pull, improving mechanical and aesthetic design resolution.Contact us for more information regarding the new steel ferrule system.Flat Woven Wire Slings • The basic manufacture of these types of slings involves 24 special wire ropes like the superflex strop or twice the amount of wires as that in the single part sling. • The ends (eyes) of the slings are like the superflex cable and opened during the flat section to give the 24 individual cords or wire ropes held apart by a cross weave. • The individual wire ropes would be to AS 3569 with the finished sling coming under the general requirements of “Wire Rope Slings - AS1666.1”. • These slings also are very flexible and have a wider section at the point of load like a websling has.
