    ALLSCRIPTS MY WAY DEMONSTRATION

There are consistent themes/messages we want to weave throughout the presentation:1. Allscripts MyWay is COMPLETE2. Allscripts MyWay is SIMPLE3. Allscripts MyWay provides me MY WAY of doing things

    BACKGROUND

The attached list of topics to be covered should be delivered in such a manner that the viewer hears a story of the patient visit experience. We want to take the physician from patient registration and check-in through the patient encounter and documentation to check out. In this process we should show Gene being checked in, thealert of his arrival to the staff, his routing to the MA/nurse and then to the physician. We will point out keyworkflow queues such as the adaptive learning of the FNC tool as well as the PHM alerts that should be woveninto the visit experience you present. As Gene is checked out, the integrated and complete MyWay tool presentsthe check out clerk the necessary information right at his/her fingertips to complete the visit for Gene andschedule any defined follow-up.

    THE SCENARIO

Gene is your patient for todays demonstration. He called in to your office yesterday for an appointment. Youwill be shown the scheduling of that appointment for Gene and we will discuss the customizability of thescheduling template(s). The ability to customize templates for scheduling provides your office the capability todefine schedule and/or resource preferences. This enables you to have your schedule set up in such a way that

you maximize your productivity each day and do so in a way that best fits your preferred workflow (i.e. startthe day with a follow up, then have a new patient, followed by an annual and then 2 follow-ups; or whatever schema you may define). There is even a waitlist functionality that maximizes your ability to be 100%

productive and generate more revenue. Furthermore, at the time of scheduling Genes appointment your staff isalerted of the Health Maintenance information specific to Gene as the patient. Gene suffers from diabetes andhypertension, thus the scheduler may also schedule Gene for his past due services when setting up for tomorrows appointment with you, or may make these a remark for his upcoming appointment. Gene tells your appointment clerk that he is requesting the appointment for tomorrow as a result of a continuation of recentabdominal pain and she updates that into the remarks for Genes appointment. All of the information collected

by the appointment clerk will present to your medical assistant/nurse when Gene presents. This means you are

able to eliminate duplication of efforts and even improve the overall quality of care provided to Gene. (e.g. bystreamlining the alert of the Health maintenance rules)

Our next demonstration portion will focus on the day of Genes appointment. We will show how Gene ischecked in and how his registration information may be updated/completed. The ability to scan in the driverslicense and have the demographic information automatically populate Genes demographics is another examplewhere your office gains efficiencies and eliminates errors.

His check in will update the Clinical staff that Gene has arrived. Then your Medical Assistant or Nurse willreview Genes One Page Summary and Health Maintenance information, will retrieve Gene and assign him toan exam room. The MA/nurse will follow your protocol for FollowUps and will utilize the note from Genesmost recent visit with Abdominal Pain. Various options for documentation (like the pulling forward of follow

up notes) are ways that you can determine your preferred methods to see patients your way and at the same timemaximize efficiency as well as reduce risk . Your nurse will gather preliminary information from Gene, including his vitals, and will review with him the current status of the abdominal pain to enable her to make anynecessary adjustments to his history information. Upon completion of the initial interview with Gene, the nursewill turn Gene over to you for evaluation. When you begin your encounter with Gene you will review GenesOne Page Summary with your viewing options defining the One Page Summary presented, and then will openthe note started by your nurse today. (Another example of your ability to use My Way, your way)

As you progress through your note there will be several examples to demonstrate Allscripts My Wayssimplicity and Adaptive Learning techniques; the patients list of diagnoses, your list of Diagnoses, the PEoptions by disease, the customization of picklists on the fly, etc. You will determine that Genes abdominal pain

is actually GERD and will prescribe Nexium. Allscripts MyWay will perform a DUR ensuring that themedication prescribed for Gene will not interfere with any other medications he is already taking or conditionshe may have. Drug utilization review is a fundamental component of any EMRs ability to reduce the risk of

practicing medicine. MyWay delivers several checks with examples including drug to drug, drug to allergy, drug to disease and pediatric checks. In a live setting you would also probably choose to e-prescribe thismedication for Gene via Allscripts MyWays e-prescribing capabilities which include SureScripts certification.

Upon completion of the note you may want to utilize the EM evaluator to confirm the level of service for

todays visit and then you will choose some Pt Education materials to share with Gene and will ask Gene to planto return in 2 weeks for a check on the status of the medications effectiveness. You will then submit Genesnote for checkout and direct Gene to the exit.

When Gene presents at checkout, the clerk is able to see that Genes status is visible as Ready to Dischargeand will choose the Complete Visit option. The clerk will be presented with a prompt confirming any co-payalready collected (or that may possibly require collection after the visit) as well as any forms (visit note, Rx, pted) to share with Gene. This is an extraordinary example of the efficiencies and quality gained with theintegrated MyWay application . The My Way single login provides this integrated workflow . From thecheckout screen, there is a link to schedule the 2 week recheck as directed by you. Through the simpleworkflow provided by MyWay the clerk selects this hyperlink and is able to schedule Genes next appointment.Your clerk thanks Gene for his visit today and sends him on his way.
