    HARDWARE ORIENTATION

The purpose of this exercise is to get familiar with the physical position ofsome hardware units in the exchange, Magazines, Devices etc.

Study the simplified figure (page 2) of the AXE system and answer thefollowing questions.

    1. Print out the state of the Central Processors.Command: DPWSP:State of CPU-A?...................State of CPU-B?...................

    2. What is the state of the Regional Processor RP=34.Command: EXRPP:Status RP34.........................Which RP is the twin RP to RP34?..........................

    3. What type of device is connected to RP 36?Command: EXEMP:Device Type:......................Magazine type:...................

    4. A new Central Processor (CP-A) has been installed into the exchange.Study the command description for the commands

EXPOI, EXPOP and EXPOE and initiate the CP to the system.

The following parameters shall be used:

    -./0

    > @

The command can be written in 8 different ways.

    Let f=1, g=2, h=3 and i=4,5,6,7,10,11,12,13

Note: Include all the i-values in one command.

Please write down the different combinations.

The command is not a real AXE command, but it has been included in thisexercise to train the work with command formats.

    4.

    a) Check the built in calendar with commandCACAP.

    b) Specify the right day category for ChristmasDay and remove old dates for last year. Call this

year 19XX and last year 19YY. Use commands

    CACAS and CACAR.

    - To which EM does this device belong ?

    - To which RP pair is this EM connected ?

    2) Define a new RP-pair. Suppose the hardware of the RPs is fully connectedand power is switched on. The type of RP is RPM6A.

    3) Load the software units for the RP pair. Use the loadable software unitsfrom the RP pair you found in 1).4) Print the state of the RP pair.5) Deblock the RP pair. Which state does it have afterwards ?6) Block the RP pair again.

    EXERCISE 3 FOR CHAPTER 3

    Route and Device Data

    Exercise on Trainings Exchange

Suppose exchange A is your home exchange.

    A B

    R=ABO&ABI

    R=ABXO&ABXI

In exchange A the direct routes ABO and ABI are defined for the trafficbetween the exchanges A and B. The routes ABXO and ABXI shall be addedin the exchange data in exchange A for direct traffic between A and B.

    1. Print the data and the states of the routes ABO and ABI and the statesand connections of the corresponding devices. Use the commandsEXROP, STRDP, STDEP and EXDEP. Record this data in a logfile.

    2. Disconnect one traffic device from the routes ABO and ABI.

    3. Introduce the new routes ABXO and ABXI in exchange A. These newroutes shall have the same data as the routes ABO and ABI.

    4. Reconnect the traffic device , which you disconnected before, to the newroute pair. Check the state and connections of this device again (STDEP,EXDEP).

    5. Show the result to the teacher.

The following Operational Instructions (OPIs) can be used with DynaText forthis exercise:

    FILE TRANSFER

Objectives: Become familiar with the transfer of files to destinations, usingthe FPU function.

    Tools: COD, POD, Student Text

OPI: File Process Utility, File and Destination, Define

A Toll Ticketing file, TTFILE0x, will be transferred via an already existing lowspeed data link to a charging centre. The subfiles will be transferredautomatically using the FPU function to the destination called TTLINK.

    VOL: CALLVOLUMERLENGTH: 2048SIZE: 0EXP: 500TYPE: SEQFCLASS: CMP

    NSUB: 5MAXSIZE: 2MAXTIME: 2

Note: Subfiles will only be reported when reached status CLOSE.

    1. Give the relevant commands to define and deblock the file. The file mustbe defined as Infinite.

Commands: INFII , INFIP, IOIFI , IOIFP, CHOFI, CHOBE, CHOFP

    2. Define the file to FPU

    Commands: INFDI, INFDP

    3. Check if subfile is already in status CLOSED

    Command: IOIFP, INFSP

    5. Block the file again.

    Commands: CHOBI, CHOFP

    6. Remove the file from FPU.

    SYSTEM BACKUP

Objectives: Become familiar with the loading and backup functions in AXE.Tools: COD, Student Text

    1. How often should an automatic large dump be made in a local office?

    2. Write the command for setting the dumping times for one large dump at2am every day and one small dump every four hours.

    3. What is dumped in a small dump? Which subfiles are used?

    4. What is dumped in a large dump? What subfiles are used?

    5. Subfile R5 in the backup file is not affected by automatic dumpingoperations. What does R5 contain?

    6. What is the procedure for dumping this information on the hard disk?

    7. In AXE system security is very important, therefore we have bothhardware and software redundancy for the system backup.

    What comprises HW redundancy?

    What comprises SW redundancy?

    9. What subfiles are loaded into the system during a reload operation?

    10. After a reload the logged commands must be executed. Which commandshows the relation between reload-files and associated command logfiles?

    11. Should all commands in a log file always be executed?

    12. Is it possible to dump the information in Main Store directly to an opticaldisk?

    CP BACKUP HANDLING

Objectives: Get familiar with the CP backup handling.Tools: COD, POD Student Text

OPI: SPG, File on Harddisk, DefineSystem Backup Copy Files, InitiateSystem Backup Copy Output

    1. Check what CP backup files are stored on the hard disk. Create the fileRELFSWx, where x represents a non existing reload-file.

Use the same parameters as for RELFSW0.

Check that the new file exists.

    2. Make a manual dump to RELFSWx.

Verify the changes in the backup files by giving the correct printcommands.

    3. Rotate the backup files so that the file where the manual dump was madeto, becomes the newest version, i.e. RELFSW0.

OPI: System Backup Copy from Hard Disk to Removable Media,ConvertSystem Backup Copy from Removable Media to Hard Disk,ConvertSPG, File on Harddisk, DefineRemovable Media, Optical Disk, MountRemovable Media, Optical Disk, Dismount

    1. Check if there is any backup information in the file RELFSW0.

    2. The Optical Disk should be formatted with APN format.

    Use ODsideA as volumename.

Filename on the Optical Disk should be Relf02.

    3. After successful conversion convert the file from the Optical Disc backinto the file RELFSW99 and compare with RELFSW2.
