According to Remodeling magazine’s annual “Cost vs. Value Report,” the cost recouped in 2008 of several home improvement projects dipped nearly across the board from the cost recouped in 2007. A master suite addition, for example, with an average cost of more than $220,000,

brought in just 61 percent of its value at resale. That’s less than the same project recouped just a year earlier. This is most likely a product of the sagging economy and the high rates of foreclosure throughout the country, which brought home values down and reversed the market from one benefitting sellers to one more advantageous to buyers. In general, projects that cost less to undertake tended to recoup more

It may have been a nail biter, but the KCS girls’ basketball team won the Section V Class C title defeat- ing Pavilion 68-65 in overtime. It was just another mile- stone in a stellar season for the Lady Indians. Junior Morgan Howe scored 26 points and was named Tour- nament MVP. Catherine Mucha and Alexandrea Flint were named to the All-Tournament team. Coach Pete Piraino led the team to a 15-4 regular season record and was named Coach of the Year for Class C. Congratulations to the team, Coach Piraino and Assistant Coach Brandon Underwood.

KCS Lady Indians Bring Home the Title

Student Kristen Randall, Michaela Hillier and Christine Tallman were selected to the Roberts Wesleyan College Honors Band. The trio performed with other high school students from around the state January 29-31. Kristen lent her talents to the clarinet section, Christine the French horn section and Michaela the saxophone section. The student were recommended by instrumental music teacher Rob DeSantis. They submitted applications and their New York State School Music Association solo scores. A near perfect NYSSMA score is required. Congratulations to Kristen, Michaela and Christine!!

1. We will collect brush and rakings only.

2. Bagged (biodegradable bags). No plastic.

3. Brush should be cut and stacked in 6-foot lengths, parallel to street and not over 5 feet high.

4. Absolutely NO lumber, construction debris or other items.

5. Make sure brush does not interfere with drainage or traffic and place brush where it can be accessed. Must be between the sidewalk and curb.

6. Brush and rakings should be placed on your own property or in cooperation with your neighbors, but NOT on Village Public Property (ie: neighborhood parks.)

7. This service is for Residents ONLY ... no commercial pick up.

8. Pickups will be scheduled. Once your street is picked up, the truck will not return. Anything put out after that, or put out and not picked up will be considered litter and will be subject to warning notices and/or fines.

9. Brush may be placed no earlier than 2 (Two) days prior.

10. Poags Hole dumpsite is open on Saturdays from 7:00am until 3:00pm from June thru November for your convenience.
