2. Living the gospel

3. Proclaiming the gospel

4. Defending the gospel

Apologetics

Apologetics is the discipline that deals with a rational defense of Christian faith.

It comes from a Greek word apologia which means to give a reason or defense.

Courtroom Gavel

Apologetics

… always be ready to give a defense to everyone who asks you a reason for the hope that is in you…

Best defense starts with understanding and living the gospel!

Apologetics

Know what you believe and why you believe it!

Questions you should be able to answer:

Why believe that God exist?

Why believe that the Bible is the

Word of God?

Questions to Ask Yourself

Would I be able to explain the gospel?

Do I live like I really believe the gospel?

Would I be able to explain why I believe the gospel?

What Does the Word “Gospel” Mean?

Meaning of Gospel in Jesus’ Day

Meaning of Gospel in Jesus’ Day

The Greek word in the New Testament for gospel is euangelion and it means good news or good message.

At the time of Jesus it was not used in a religious context, but rather in the context of kings and war.

Most often it was a proclamation by a messenger to announce good news on behalf of a king.

Augustine
