DEMOLITION

1. GENERAL

1.1 SECTION INCLUDES

1. Compliance with Sections of Division 1, General and Preliminaries

2. The demolition works to be carried out are briefed under Particular Specifications Volume III Book 1

1.2 SUBMITTALS

1. Before starting work, examine all available information, carry out a survey of the structure, siteand surrounding area, and submit a survey report and method statements to ADCO covering allrelevant matters listed below:

1. The form, condition and demolition methods of the structures;2. The removal methods of all demolished work.

2. Obtain approval from ADCO in respect with disposal of materials.

1.3 SAFETY

1. Prior to starting work, the Contractor shall obtain ADCOs approval as to the manner in which heintends to proceed with the demolitions, excavations and implementation of safety measures.Approval by ADCO shall not absolve the Contractor in any way of his responsibility as indicatedin this Section.

2. EXECUTION

2.1 DEMOLITION WORK GENERALLY

1. Demolish structures in accordance with BS 6187:1982 and Health and Safety rules of ADCO.Site staffs responsible for supervision and control of the work are to be experienced in theassessment of the risks involved and in the method of demolition to be used.

2. Take precautions to prevent fire or explosion caused by gas, vapour, etc.

3. Reduce dust by periodically spraying demolition works with water.

4. Excavate and break out old foundations, slabs, and etc. remove all rubble, stone andcontaminated earth. Backfill as specified in Section 02200.

5. Inform ADCO immediately of any unrecorded voids, tanks chemicals, etc., discovered duringdemolition work and proceed with safe removal, filling, etc., only as directed by ADCO.

6. Before starting work, examine all available information, carryout a survey of structure, site andother surroundings area and submit a survey report and Method of Statement (MOS) covering allrelevant matters, listed below:

1. The form, condition and demolition methods of structures.2. The removal methods of all demolished works.

2.2 RUBBISH

1. Remove rubbish, debris and surplus material regularly and keep the site and works cleanand tidy.

2. Remove all rubbish and residue from voids and cavities before filling or closing in.3. Ensure that unwanted non-hazardous material and rubbish is disposed of at a pit

approved by ADCO.

2.3 COMPLETION

1. Clear away all debris and leave the site in a tidy condition on completion.2. Grade the site to follow the levels of adjacent areas as agreed with ADCO.
