SUNDAY, OCTOBEr 12, 2014 7MANILA: The biggest fight that the worldwants to see might happen next year.

Floyd Mayweather Sr. told Fighthype.comon Wednesday (Thursday Manila time) thathis son might have Filipino boxing iconManny Pacquiao as his 49th opponent in thepro ranks.

“Man, I’m pretty sure that if nothing elsehappen, he’s gonna get Pacquiao...it’s gonnahappen. That fight’s gonna happen. Trustme,” Mayweather, Sr. told Fighthype.com’sBen Thompson.

“You mark my words and we’ll see. And itneeds to happen. Just like Ali and Joe Frazier,or Ali and George Foreman, something likethat, man, it’s one of those fights like that,”he added.

With two fights left in his Showtime con-tract, Floyd Jr. has yet to announce his nextopponent after disposing Marcos Maidanafor the second time.

Mayweather, Jr, who currently holds a 47-0-record with 26 knockouts is expected tofight in May 2015. His father believes allsigns are pointing to a Pacquiao fight after

that provided that the eight-division worldchampion takes care of his business.

The rumored mega fight was all the morefanned by the news of Top rank andShowtime in negotiation to stage pay-per-view fights together.

Pacquiao, who is under Bob Arum’s Toprank promotions, is set to fight Americanchallenger Chris Algieri on Nov. 22 in Macau. If he wins, Pacquiao might finally end up tak-ing a megabuck bout against the unbeatenMayweather, Jr.

“Well, it might be number 49. Floyd’sgonna kick his little ass,” added the elderMayweather, who maintained that his sonwould pick Pacquiao apart. The outspokentrainer thinks Pacquiao does not stand achance to give his son his first loss.

“He’s tailor-made to eat the right hand allday long. You gotta remember, Pacquiao is asouthpaw. He’s a southpaw and Floyd isright-handed, so he’ll eat right hands andleft hooks all night, and more than likely, hewill be going to sleep again. Believe me,”Mayweather, Sr. said. —The Philippine Star
