Every EPC students are usually worry about how to do the Final Year Project (FYP) next year, because no one had faced to do a big project like this. Also the FYP will affect our careers in the future. In order to help our students to face the FYP in the next year, we have invited the group of “re:spect” member, Leo, to answer our doubt and fear of the FYP.

L:Leo S: Samuel

About the FYP

S: Hello Leo, How’s your FYP? Is it finish?L: Our FYP was officially finished in December, it was successfully finished.

S: What is the topic of your FYP?L: Our topic is “Show me respect.” re:spect is the name of the magazine “re:spect”, and show me is “Show the respect”.

S: Why would you choose this topic?L: We have chose a magazine to co-operate with, its name is “re:spect”, also show me is “show the respect” to everyone.

S: What is your role in this topic?L: Our role is seems like a kind of middleman, we found the students who are interested to be an intern-ship in the talk show , then arrange the students intern to have the interview tour, and then observed those students how they communicate with the guest in the interview. We need them to do the cover page after the interview, the best cover page will be the cover page of next vol.“re:spect”.

S; When was the talk show hold?L: 28th Nov at CityU Leacture 4

S: Who is the target audince?L: The students in school, especially for those who are mainly study in media and writing student.

S: Who is the guests of the talk show?L: There were 3 guests in the talk show, they all are employers from re:spect, They are Gary Chan, Sean Chan and Jesper Chan

S: What is your project’s sponsorship?L: E-print

S: Where did you find the sponsorship? Is it hard to find the sponsorship?L: We found the sponsorship in the internet. We have contact some other companies to sponsor us. At last it was only e-print is willing to sponsor us. It is not to difficult to find the sponsorship, it only cause time to phone or email to the companies to request for sponsor-ship. And we have also found Bonaqua and Vitasoy to sponsor us, but they were refused to sponsor us, because the talk show’s proportion is not big, they are not willing to sponsor a small talk show.

S; what is the hard time when you are doing the project?L: Not too much hard time when we were doing the project, because our topic is not big as other group, other groups may invite guest to have a talk in school, they need to arrange the place, time and budget. We only need to print almost 100 poster and some questionnaire. There is only one thing it makes us feel difficult, the staff of “re;spect”, they are a bit lazy, when we need the information or materials from them, they will answer us, “We will send to use”, afterwards, we need to remind them to give the information us. I think they are a bit lazy.

Meet the MentorsQ: Hi, how are you holding up? Are you free of work now after the FYP?L: Hello, I’m good. After the FYP, I feel like I can finally do revision regularly. I realized that I’m not the type of person that can do multi-task. I was pretty much distracted in classes before the FYP is done. So I am glad that I can focus on my studies again.

Q: Do you think that the last academic year tough?L: Yes, because the FYP is a big project that holds throughout a year, not just a period of time. At the same time, we have to manage to keep other subjects which are also important in high grades. Besides, group work that lasts for a year requires much more effort to cooperate with groupmates, which makes it harder.

Q: Is being a mentor voluntary? Or is it

chosen by lecturers?L: Mentors volunteered to participate in the programme.

Q: Do you find it happy to be a mentor?L: Yes. As I always get lost when I was a

freshman in the university, so I am grateful to help others.

Q: You have an amazing performance in the U Music Revolution! What actually is it?L: It is a show to promote group music culture which encourages people to cooperate and performtogether. So, we gathered

students from different universities to sing together so as to demonstrate the idea.

Q: Did you enjoy the concert?L: The concert was crossing universities, I sang with performers from other universities. I enjoyed it lots.

Q: Why would you choose AAEPC pro-gramme?C: I want to improve English. It will be useful for my future careen. Besides, it is great to talk to foreigners if you can speak fluent English.

Q: What do you expect to get from this programme?C: I want to improve my communicational skills, both verbally and non-verbally. For verbal skill, I hope that I can be confident during any presentation. For non verbal, I hope that I can write, such as business letter, with professional wordings.

Q: Do you think that it is tough in your last year study?C: Not at all when you compare with year 2. In year 2, you need to tackle with final year project.

Q: How are you holding up? How did you overcome the problems?C: There are different kinds of people you meet during the process of Final Year Project. Some of their attitudes may not be so good and have a

poor temper. You need to keep calm and stay positive. If your EQ is high, you can also tackle problems happily.

“You need to

keep calm &
