DIVISION 1 - GENERAL REQUIREMENTS

SECTION 01400 - QUALITY CONTROL

PART 1 - GENERAL

1.01 DESCRIPTIONThis Section covers providing all WORK as per SAUDI ARAMCO Standard, SAES-M-100and SAUDI ARAMCO Engineering Procedure, SAEP-1023 and all other applicableEngineering material Standards, CONTRACTORs QA/QC requirements.

A. Related WORK: CONTRACTOR shall be responsible for establishing andexecuting a quality control program.

B. WORK Specified In This Section:

1. Testing and Inspection shall be include, but not be limited to:

a. All sampling, testing of cement, water and aggregates.

b. Design of concrete mixes.

c. Company Representative's inspections and tests.

d. Manufacturer's representatives on-site inspections.

e. Compaction test.

f. Reinforcing steel tests.

g. Systems tests (Roof, Electrical, HVAC, Plumbing, etc.).

h. Asphalt tests.

i. Structural Steel Tests.

j. Precast Concrete Tests.

k. Concrete Strength Tests.

2. Layout and measurements.

C. Testing

All testing, including requests, reports, etc., are the responsibility of theCONTRACTOR, or an approved agency, employed by the CONTRACTOR.Company Representative reserves the right to verify the tests with SAUDI

ARAMCO testing laboratory or independent agency.

1.02 INSPECTION AND INSPECTORS

Company Representative or other persons or firms appointed by SAUDI ARAMCO for this purpose will periodically inspect the WORK and the CONTRACTOR shall providefacilities and access to the WORK at all times as required to facilitate this inspection, asrequired by SAUDI ARAMCO Engineering Procedure SAEP-1023.

1.03 GENERAL REQUIREMENTS

A. Standards: Sampling, preparation of samples and testing shall conform toapplicable ASTM methods, unless otherwise specified.

B. Reports: Two (2) copies shall be furnished to Company Representativesummarizing the results of each test and inspection. Each report shall clearlydistinguish the type of test, location, the material tested and whether an original(first) test or a retest, and other related information.

C. Notification: Company Representative and if applicable, SAUDI ARAMCO testinglaboratory or agency, shall be notified 48 hours in advance of any WORK

requiring testing or inspection.

D. Cooperation: Testing Laboratory shall prepare, cure, store, etc., all job-madesamples.

E. Identification: Materials passing test shall be marked or tagged by the TestingLaboratory and shall thereafter be kept separate and stored so as to facilitateidentification. Any such material not identifiable by Company Representativeshall be rejected and removed from storage location or the Site.

F. Non-conformance: Where a test or inspection reveals non-conformance or failure to meet requirements, Company Representative shall immediately benotified, verbally and subsequently by a written report or letter.

1.05 INSPECTION BY COMPANY REPRESENTATIVE

A. Inspection Notification: In addition to tests and inspections called for in thisSection, CONTRACTOR shall notify Company Representative for inspection andtesting of various parts of the WORK as called for in applicable Sections of the

Specifications. Notify 48 hours in advance to assure inspection prior to coveringup or closing in of the WORK involved.

B. Required Inspection (see applicable Sections of Specifications for details):

1. Layout of Building

2. Foundation excavation before forms are started.

3. Concrete forms and reinforcing steel, prior to concrete placement.

4. All concrete pouring.

5. Asphalt concrete paving.

6. Installation of damp-proofing membranes and vapor barriers.

7. Finish Site grading.

8. Backfill.

9. Steel and wall framing prior to enclosure.

10. Roof surface prior to insulation and roof water proofing WORK.

11. Floor surface prior to tile and carpet WORK.

12. Prior to enclosure of any walls, locations of outlets and fixtures.

13. Any other items specifically requested by Company Representative.

1.06 LAYOUT AND MEASUREMENTS

A. Verify dimensions before layout and request clarification of discrepancies or beresponsible for correction.

B. Verify all measurements prior to ordering of fabricated items.
