Procedures Subject: Trailer Parking Procedures Purpose: Keeping brakes from freezing on portable trailer units. Potential Hazards: Equipment sliding or rolling Air pressure Trailer unable to move when required Cracked brake drums Action: Information: 1. Spot Equipment. 1. Make sure there is good visual as well as good communication with the driver. 2. Apply brakes to truck and trailer unit. 2. So truck will be able to pull away. 3. Block trailer tires, lower legs onto planking, pull fifth wheel pin. 4. Pull truck away from trailer (approx. 1 foot). 5. Supply trailer with air so that brakes are released. 6. Close ½ " ball valve on air line to keep brakes released. 7. Detach air lines from truck to trailer and pull truck out of the way. 8. Once the brakes have cooled off or dried off 8. Hold air lines away from self (approx. 4-6 hours), open ½ " ball valve to release and SLOWLY open ½ " valve air from lines reapplying brakes to trailer. This will release pressure to brakes.

Subject: Trailer Parking Procedures

Action: Information:
