EATING HABIT DIFFERENCE
Sweden vs. Hong Kong http://asiancorrespondent.com/56359/eating-habit-difference/
1.) Sharing habit
In Hong Kong, whenever we hang out with
friends for a meal, usually what we do is order many different dishes and then share it. InSweden, it happened to me in several timesthat when I hang out and eat with Swedishfriends, they more prefer to order their own
food. Being a food freak myself, I usually likeordering different food with my friends, tryingtheir food and letting them try my food. Buthere I almost feel rude to do so…

EATING HABIT DIFFERENCE

2.) The healthy notion Having healthy food is undoubtedly a main trend for
Swedish people. I have told by some of my Swedish
friends that they usually prefer boiling food instead offrying them, and that they seldom went to fast foodrestaurants. Therefore I hardly saw a variety of fastfood restaurants here. In Hong Kong, the fast foodculture is vast ( I have to admit that it’s Americanizedto a certain extent). You can see different kinds ofdeep fried street food basically, and the number of
fast food restaurant is also huge. It’s not that wepeople from Hong Kong like having fast food, it is justsomething good to have once in a while as analternative.

EATING HABIT DIFFERENCE
Sweden vs. Hong Kong http://asiancorrespondent.com/56359/eating-habit-difference/
3.) Popularity of lunch and dinner buffet
One thing I really like is that I found the lunch and
dinner buffets so attractive here, cause youbasically pay the same price as a regular dinner set (maybe a very tiny teeny lil’ bit more) and youcan have as much food as you want. I alwaystook advantage of this buffet thing here as I amalways the last survive whenever I have buffet with
my friends. In Hong Kong, if you want to havebuffet, you usually need to pay a very remarkableprice (compared to the price of a meal set) andthus it’s not as common as it is here.

4.) Spice tolerance This point probably relates to the food
culture… I remember once my Swedishfriends and I made dinner together so I putthe same amount of chilly as usual in thebroccoli I made, I didn’t taste anythingspecial in the broccoli but my friend said thatit was way too spicy, I almost felt guilty aboutthat… It also happened for several times that Iwas tricked by the so called “spicy dishes” inthe restaurants here when those spicy dishesactually tasted nothing spicy at all…
