Although the Christmas season is surrounded with festivity, lights, decorations and parties, there are many of you who dread this time of year because it is so sad. As many of you know, I lost my daddy to cancer when I was fourteen years old. He died one week after Christmas, on December 31, 1999. In the years that followed, our family muddled through many sad Christmases, so I can relate to the painful reminder of someone’s absence that this season often brings. But in spite of all that, I have personally experienced God birth beauty from pain, and bring healing out of brokenness. He is faithful, and He has once again restored joy to our family over the years. Christmas is beautiful because it is the greatest reminder of God’s faithfulness. After centuries gone by awaiting the promised Hope from Heaven, the Savior came. On the night Jesus was born, I imagine the angels peeling back the f loor of Heaven, bending down over Earth to watch, longing to witness the incredible moment that God Almighty, the Creator of everything, is born as a tiny, human baby. I pray these songs fill your heart with the wonder and awe of that mind-boggling event that forever changed history, and as a result, is continually changing us. I dedicate this album in loving memory to my daddy, Jerry Edwards, who left us far too soon, but who always made Christmas so beautiful.
