2.3 Liaises with : Chief of Anesthesia,Anesthesiologist,
Nursing Supervisors and Head
Nurses,and Surgeons, patients family andvisitors.

To provide intensive observation and care of the patient following anoperative procedure for which an anesthetic agent has been

5.0 Duties and Responsibilities:
5.1 Responsible in receiving post operative patients knowing thefollowing:
operation performed, untoward problem that occurred in thesurgical
suite, present condition and complication that might arise and thesigns and symptoms to watch.
5.2 Maintain a patent airway. Asses respiratory status upon receivingand at intervals until discharge.
5.2.1 Administered oxygen as ordered and carry out STATorders immediately. Patient who has received a general orspinal/epidural anesthesia must received supplementaloxygen during the recovery phase.
5.3 Determine level of consciousness to assess the need to reversemedications.
5.4 Monitor blood pressure, temperature, pulse rate and respiratoryrate
every 10 minutes initially until stable and hourly depending on theorder.
5.5 Position patient in recovery position (lateral position). Unlesscontraindicated, the unconscious patient is positioned on his side,
a pillowon his back and with his chin extended upward to minimize any
danger ofaspiration.
5.6 Assess for objective signs of pain, protective guarding behavior,moaning,
crying, restlessness, irritability and facial expression of pain.

5.7 To adhere the implementation of infection control practices as wellas
environmental safety and waste management.
5.8 Observe the principles of safe administration of blood transfusion.
5.9 Prepare and anticipates during emergency Code Blue in PACU.
5.10 Check the Post Anesthesia Care Unit Criteria. Indicator ofrecovery

includes stable blood pressure, adequate respiratory function,adequate oxygen saturation level compared with baseline, andspontaneous movement on command.
5.11 As soon as patient is fully awake, inform him that surgery isfinished and reorient him as to time and place.
5.12 Proper endorsement-the RR/PACU nurse reports the baseline dataabout the patients general condition, review post-operative ordersor therapeutic regimen including medications, diet and activityperforms, dressingchanges and wound care and any other treatments to thereceiving nurse. Patients being discharge directly to home such asDay Case requires verbal and written instructions about follow-upcare.
5.13 Ability to recognize safety hazards and initiates appropriatepreventive and corrective action.
5.14 Comply with the standards laid down by the International andNational Accreditation.
6.0 Educational Qualification and Licensures
6.1 With a Bachelor of Science in Nursing Degree
6.2 Licensed Registered Nurse in Originating Country
