Thank you for choosing a SimpliFun PrintIt! PartiKit for your celebration.

There are step-by-step printing instructions throughout this party kit within yellow ‘stickies’

which can be moved with your mouse if they are in the way for you. The will not print IF you

don’t print the comments. If you have printing problems you may find solutions here:

http://www.SimpliFun.com/themes/PrintIt!files.html#print

To go to the next or previous page, use the arrows at the bottom of Acrobat. To go to a

specific page, choose the menu option View/Go to. Use the rotate page option within View menu

option if you need to rotate the pages sideways to read them.

You do not have to print the party all at once. It is stored on your computer and you can come

back to the file anytime.

Before you print you should have on hand: (you do not have to print everything at once)

1. White bond paper (regular printing paper)

2. Optionally, white card stock for the thank you cards and perhaps some of the activity

materials.

Card stock is also called index stock or 110-pound paper. The designs are not setup to use

perforated greeting card stock. Single sheets of card stock may be available at print shops

like http://www.kinkos.com/locations/index.php Call first to confirm stock on hand.

The invitations can be personalized before you print them. Follow the instructions on the

invitation page. After printing, they are folded in 1/4. If the graphic centers do not line up

with folding, your printer may need more margin space than my design, and hence the shifted

printing. To fix this, fold for correct graphic locations and then trim the edge.

To make each of the script booklets, find the center of the pages by folding the first page in ½.

Cut all other pages down the center. Staple these ½ sheets together to form your booklet. Use

the folded cover page for the outside of the booklet.

PROFILES OF ADULT CHARACTERS

Active Characters in GameDAME SARAH ELIZABETH DAWES-SMYTHE - matriarch of the Smythe family - 97 years old .

Dame Sarah has decided, because of her advancing years, to finally pass along her diamond heirloom

antique ring and necklace to her great-granddaughters, Samantha and Barbara. This set has been passed

down through generations to the first female born in each generation. It originated with the Duchess of

Nottingham, England, who is said to have received the ring from a duke in Barcelona, Spain when she was

14 years old.

MARTY, the cook and all around “handy” person - 40 years old.

Marty has been with Dame Sarah Elizabeth for 20 years as of last Tuesday. Marty is an excellent cook

and prepares Dame Sarah’s favorite dishes. Since Dame Sarah and Marty are the only occupants of the

“big house”, not much heavy cleaning is required on a daily basis and Marty is considered to have a “cushy”

job. Marty also doubles as ‘butler’ when Moreland is away.

Characters in AbsentiaCHAUNCEY, the chauffeur - 25 years old.

Chauncey has been driving for Dame Sarah for five years, having replaced James who died in a mysterious,

tragic accident involving a hit and run, never found. Chauncey has no known traffic violations, and came to

work for Dame Sarah with several very good references.

MORELAND, the butler - 70 years old.

Moreland has been with Dame Sarah for 50 years next May. He’s been a faithful servant, though, for the

past six months, he’s been asking for more and more time off - saying he’s visiting a sick niece in a nearby

town. Moreland lives in half of a duplex cottage at the southwest corner of the estate.

HENRY, the gardener - 60 years old

Henry lives at home on the other side of town with his wife of 40 years. He works at the Dawes-Smythe

estate on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays, and has been on medical retirement from Dinkus Aircraft

for 20 years. He has worked for Dame Sarah since his retirement. He uses a riding mower and electric

hedge trimmer, so as not to do anything strenuous, he says, so he will not endanger his medical retirement

benefits. He has informed Dame Sarah he would like to retire from the gardening job in two years. By

the way, Henry also works on Mary Jane Stanford’s adjoining estate, Tuesday, Thursdays and Saturdays.

He has also mentioned to Ms. Stanford that he would like to retire in two years.

MARY JANE STANFORD, known as MJ - 97 years old

Ms. Stanford is Dame Sarah’s lifelong friend and partner in the Greentree Jewelry Company. The company

is for sale and the partners hope that it will sell this year so they can retire. Ms Stanford never married

- giving her whole life to the Greentree Jewelry Company. She lives on the adjoining estate. MJ’s hobby

is architectural drawing and she rather fancies herself to be an amateur architect.

SCENE 1 - IN THE DINING ROOM

SAM: Oh, how awful! Poor Great-Grandmother!I wonder where she keeps the ring?

ALLIE: I wonder when she saw it last?

ANNIE: Well, she is rather ancient. She probablyhid it and doesn't remember where she hidit. You know how old people forget things.

BARBIE: Well, Sam says her great-grandmother ismore alert and smarter than all of us mostof the time, even though she is 97 yearsold!

GEE: I think we ought to find out the answers toSam and Allie's questions. Perhaps thatwill help. We need to go at this morescientifically. Need a coke, be right back.(Go to fridge and bring coke back)

GOLDIE: Gee, you always think we need to bescientific - how can we find a missing ringscientifically?

MARTY, COME INTO DINING ROOM AND HAND SAMTHE ENVELOPE YOU HAVE IN YOUR POCKET.

This has your name on it, Miss Samantha.

SAM: (take envelope from Marty)What is it? Shall I open it?

ALL: Sure

SAM: It appears to be a clue. I’ll read it to you.

BUBBLE: There’s your answer, Goldie. We canfigure out who would have access to Great-Grandmother’s bedroom.

GOLDIE: Do we even know she kept the ring in herbedroom?

DAME SARAH, COME INTO THE DINING ROOM

SAM: Here's Great-Grandmother now. We've gotlots of questions. We're so glad you'rehere. Is Bubble’s necklace missing, too?

DAME SARAH:No, it’s safe and sound, Samantha. But, you all know I wanted to give my heirloomring and necklace, which were passeddown through several generations, to mydear great-granddaughters, Samantha andBarbara, tonight after supper. I am beside

BUBBLE: Don’t be upset, Great-Grandmother, we’llfind it. Didn’t the ring once belong to aduchess? Please tell us about it.

TEDDY: A duchess? Really? Duchess of what?

GINGER: Where was the duchess from?

COOKIE: Where did she get it? How MANYgenerations ago?

GEE: Well, you know Cookie, probably somehandsome prince gave it to her!

DAME SARAH:Ladies, let’s move into the drawing roomand I’ll tell you what I know about theorigins of my ring.

SCENE 2 - SEATED IN THE DRAWING ROOM

DAME SARAH:It seems, according to a sketchy familyhistory, that a very young and handsomeduke from Barcelona, Spain, while with hisfather in Nottingham, England, was outriding on the estate of his host’s. Heaccidentally ventured onto an adjoiningestate. He saw a young lady riding herhorse and was captivated by her beauty. Itwas like he was enchanted! She was my,and of course, Sam’s ancestor. The dukeimmediately apologized for venturing ontoanother’s property. The young andbeautiful woman told him it was okay andasked him to ride with her the rest of themorning. They secretly rode together a fewmore times while he was visiting.

On the evening before he was to return toSpain, he gave the young lady a ring. Heexplained it had belonged to his mother andhad been in his family for manygenerations. She had given it to him justbefore she had died and instructed him togive it to the woman he falls in love with. Itwas very special to him and the beauty ofthe ring reminded him of the beauty of hisnew love. He told our great-great-great-grandmother that the twinkle of thejewel was the same as the sparkle in hereyes. She told HIM he should give the ringto the one he fell in love with. He just

smiled and insisted that she keep it toremember him by.

GOLDIE: Didn’t they ever see each other again,Dame Sarah?

DAME SARAH:No, the duke eventually married a younglady his family arranged for him to marry.

ALLIE: His family told him whom he should marry? How awful!

ANNIE: Yeah! They used to do that - arrangemarriages I mean. Sometimes when theywere only babies their marriage would bedecided, they were forced to marry whenthey came of age, and their futures werealready known.

BUBBLE: Yes, it’s true, I read the same books Anniereads. They were so into arrangingmarriages back then.

BARBIE: (Run your fingers thru’ your hair whiletalking).Whatever happened to your great-great-great-grandmother? Who did she marry?

GEE: She was probably promised to someone, too.

DAME SARAH:Yes Gee, my ancestor married two years

Adult Guide for 10 players twin theme 6

later, when she was sixteen to a duke fromLondon, they had four sons and only onedaughter. Here, I’ll show you their portraits.

ESCORT THE GROUP TO THE PORTRAITS YOUPRINTED AND DISPLAYED IN YOUR PARTY AREA.USE THE PORTRAIT EXPLANATION GUIDE.

SAM: And Daphne was married at only sixteen?

DAME SARAH:Yes, young ladies married very early backthen. In fact, sometimes if they weren’tmarried by the ripe old age of twenty-fivethey were considered to be “Old Maids”!

Daphne had only one daughter, named Ivy,so she decided she would pass the ring toher daughter instead of her eldest son,Chesterton. Chesterton was rather a wildone and she was afraid the wrong womanwould eventually get the ring or he mightlose it in a gambling bet.

Daphne began the tradition of giving thetreasured ring to the first born girl in eachgeneration. Samantha is the first girl in thefamily since I was born 97 years ago.

TEDDY: Girls, we have GOT to find that ring!

GINGER: If we don’t find it - the TRADITION will end.

COOKIE: Let’s go over the facts one more time and

see if we can figure anything out.

GEE: Yeah - let’s be scientific about it. This isVERY important!

DAME SARAH:Okay, at about 4:50, I checked when I wentup for my nap, the ring was in its hidingplace. I usually keep it in a safety depositbox at the bank, but I brought it homeyesterday. I only told two people where Iwas going to put it. I know I’m getting alittle forgetful and didn’t want to take ANYchances that I would misplace it. Now, itseems I might have done just that. Or,could anyone else have found out? It wasgone at 5:50, when I went to get it.

SAM: Well, we know it was there at 4:50 andgone at 5:50.

ALLIE: It disappeared in an hour.

ANNIE: Yes, while Dame Sarah was napping.

BARBIE: How convenient for someone.

GEE: I wonder who else besides us knew youwere napping, Dame Sarah? Or, ....do younap every day at the same time?

DAME SARAH:

Oh, how really bright you all are. Yes, my

dears, I do take a nap every day for an hour

Adult Guide for 10 players twin theme 8

- but usually an hour EARLIER than this.

I've just been so busy helping Marty with the

cooking in the kitchen that I never got

around to it until after you arrived. I thought

the perfect opportunity to rest would be

while you were all playing games in the

library before supper.

ALLIE: (pick up an envelope from the table in the

Hey, this has my name on it. Guess I

probably can open it, huh?

SCENE 3 - STILL IN THE DRAWING ROOM

BUBBLE: Well looks like Marty knew she didn't take

her nap at the regular time, because they

were together in the kitchen until 4:45.

TEDDY: And...Chauncey, your chauffeur, saw you

when he dropped us off, and Moreland,

your butler, left shortly before supper.

SAM: So, Marty knew what time great-

grandmother took her nap because Marty

was in the library with us until Marty

escorted us into the dining room at 6:00

PM. We went into the library about 4:45

and Great- Grandmother went up to her

suite at 4:50.

GOLDIE: And Chauncey left right after he dropped us

off at 4:25. We haven’t seen him since.

BUBBLE: No, we haven’t.

GINGER: Well, I wonder where Henry, the gardener,

was during that hour?

COOKIE: I saw him clipping hedges on the west side

of the house toward the kitchen, when I

looked out the library window.

Adult Guide for 10 players twin theme 10

GEE: So, no one saw Chauncey since we

arrived? I need a coke - be right back.

(Get coke from refrigerator and return)

GOLDIE: No - he just disappeared after he dropped

us off and said hello to Dame Sarah.

BUBBLE: Right!

ANNIE: (find envelope in back of your guest guide).

I also have an envelope. Gosh, are we all

going to get one? May I read this, too?

ALL: Sure, Annie, go for it!

READ ALOUD CLUE #3 - ANNIE

For the past 6 months, Moreland has been asking for

more and more time off - saying he’s visiting a sick

niece in a nearby town.

BUBBLE: So, Moreland’s been visiting his sick niece.

What does that have to do with anything?

ANNIE: Yeah, let’s get back to the problem at hand.

Maybe something about Moreland’s niece

will come up later.

BUBBLE: Yeah, right now, it’s so not useful

information.

Page 29: 00145 Mystery Party Game for Twin Girls - Case of the Missing Ring Mystery Party Game and Kit for 10 girls ages 9 to 12 and 2 adults or older teens. Theme can be an overnight or one

Adult Guide for 10 players twin theme 11

SAM: Well, it is certainly obvious that no one saw

Chauncey after he dropped us off. He left

and put the limo in the garage, then went to

the duplex and no one has seen him since.

ALLIE: Was Marty in the library with us the whole

time?

GINGER: I believe so.

ANNIE: Well, it is obvious that the gardener, Henry

had the opportunity to sneak up the stairs to

Dame Sarah's dressing room while he was at

the south end of the house clipping hedges.

The timing is right and look at the drawing of

the mansion. (Go to the blueprint drawing on

the wall). See ... the outside steps up to the

second floor lead from the balcony right into

Dame Sarah's sitting room and access to her

whole suite.

GOLDIE: Henry’s probably the one most likely to have

access to Dame Sarah’s suite 24/7 - besides

Marty, of course.

GINGER: May we go up and have a look, Dame

Sarah?

DAME SARAH:

Of course. I’ll go with you. Bring the drawing

with you, OK?

Adult Guide for 10 players twin theme 12

SCENE 4 - IN DAME SARAH’S BEDROOM SUITE

BARBIE: Anyone would have the opportunity

normally, to sneak up the stairs to the

balcony and into the sitting room, but NOT

while Henry was clipping hedges. He

would see them.

GEE: Let’s ask him...no, maybe not yet. Is Henry

our leading suspect? Cool! Let's see - he

wants to retire in two years. Why would he

want the ring?

COOKIE: Well, duh, WHY would he want the ring?

He could leave the area and then sell the

ring and retire in STYLE!

DAME SARAH:

You know - he works for MJ Stanford, my

partner, on Tues., Thurs. and Saturday.

But, not for a minute would I think Henry

has taken my ring. No one in my employ

would do such a thing. Nope, it is an

“outside job”, as they say. Or, a case of

forgetfulness on my part. Most likely the

latter.

LOOK ALL AROUND DAME SARAH’S SITTING

ROOM, BEDROOM, AND BALCONY.

SAM: Doesn’t seem to be anything here. I know

you don’t want anyone to know where you

hid the ring when you brought it home,

Great-Grandmother, but it might help us if

we knew.

BARBIE: (notice an envelope on Dame Sarah’s floor

by the balcony door and pick it up)

What’s this on the floor, Dame Sarah? Did

you drop this?

DAME SARAH:

Let me see...why, Barbie, it has your name

on it. You’d better open it.

Chauncey and Dame Sarah’s partner, MJ Stanford, are

known to each other, but don’t be fooled by the obvious!

Dame Sarah did more at the bank than just get the ring.

DISCUSSION OF ALL KNOWN FACTS AND CLUES

ALLIE: And who are the 2 people who know where

you put it?

DAME SARAH:

Ok, you’ve convinced me. I’ll tell you who

knows, but that doesn’t mean anything. I

mentioned to Jon Blackstone, my attorney

and to MJ, my partner that I hid the ring

Adult Guide for 10 players twin theme 14

temporarily, the moment I arrived home

from the bank, ... just in case I forgot. I

truly hate to admit that I’m becoming a little

forgetful.

MARTY, BEFORE SCENE 5, PLEASE DOUBLE

CHECK THAT GEE’S CLUE #5 IS ON TOP OF THE

COKE CANS IN THE REFRIGERATOR IN THE

KITCHEN.

Adult Guide for 10 players twin theme 15

SCENE 5 - STILL IN DAME SARAH’S SUITE

ANNIE: Well, I guess we can eliminate Mr.

Blackstone and MJ as our suspects since

they haven’t been here since Dame Sarah

brought the ring home from the bank

yesterday.

GOLDIE: Gosh - this sure is getting complicated.

Chauncey your chauffeur, and MJ your

partner, know each other? I wonder what

the relationship is?

TEDDY: Could they be related in some way? Or if

not - could they have been introduced by

Henry, your gardener?

GINGER: But, why would Chauncey and MJ be seen

together? He's a chauffeur and she's a

wealthy gemologist.

SAM: Now - here’s a thought... MJ knew where

the ring was hidden and MJ knows

Chauncey and Chauncey has not been

seen since he brought us to the mansion.

COOKIE: And then there’s Henry. Could he be

involved? He's really the only one with

opportunity, besides Marty. And we know

he’s been here because I saw him clipping

Adult Guide for 10 players twin theme 16

hedges when we were in the library.

GEE: There must be another explanation we

aren’t thinking about. I need a coke - be

right back. (Get coke and stay in kitchen

until called)

BUBBLE: Well, it seems pretty obvious to me.

ANNIE: What does?

BUBBLE: Well, just think about it. MJ knew the hiding

place. Chauncey knows MJ. She could

have mentioned it to Chauncey. Chauncey

is not around. Henry had the opportunity

24/7. So, it is either Chauncey or Henry.

ALLIE: Too cut and dried!

DAME SARAH:

And you all forget...I trust everyone in my

home and I trust MJ explicitly. She would

have no reason whatsoever to tell

Chauncey. No, I must be forgetting about

something I did with the ring.

BUBBLE: Could have been a slip of the tongue.

COOKIE: But Dame Sarah says she trusts Chauncey

and Henry and everyone else in her

household. So, it wouldn’t have really

mattered.

Gee, you OK in there?

GEE: (Returning from kitchen, holding envelope

in the air and waving it around)

Well, I found one, too!

GOLDIE: Found one what, Gee?

GEE: An envelope. It was, guess where...on top

of the coke cans in the fridge.

ALLIE: Yeah, see, right here (point to sketch).

Maybe this will come in handy.

DAME SARAH:

Well, darlings, I’m sorry you’re spending

your entire evening looking for Samantha’s

ring, I feel so bad - I've not found the ring -

only fresh towels in my bathroom, replaced

by my faithful Marty. Do you have some

SCENE 6 - STILL IN DAME SARAH’S SUITE

SAM: We all think Henry had the opportunity.

Cookie saw him trimming hedges around

the house while we were in the library

playing games.

ALLIE: We hadn't seen Chauncey since 4:45 and

Moreland left shortly before supper and

wasn’t seen returning.

BARBIE: Some strange goings-on between

Chauncey and MJ. They know each other.

ANNIE: Wonder where you put the ring, Dame

Sarah? Didn’t Chauncey know you brought

it home?

DAME SARAH:

Actually, everyone in the house knew I

brought it home and was giving it to

Samantha today. Everyone except for

Henry, that is.

GEE: Henry didn’t know? Why is that?

DAME SARAH:

Well, I haven’t had the chance to tell him

yet. He’s been extremely busy pruning

bushes and planting roses.

Adult Guide for 10 players twin theme 20

GEE: But, I remember you telling us Henry works

for MJ also. He may have found out from

her.

ALLIE: So, MJ could have mentioned it to both

Henry and Chauncey. What is the

relationship between MJ and Chauncey,

Dame Sarah?

DAME SARAH:

Chauncey has driven for MJ in the past,

when her own chauffeur has been on

vacation. In fact, we used to share

Chauncey and Moreland quite a bit, before

she hired her own chauffeur and butler.

BUBBLE: So, that’s the relationship. We were

wondering. It is just not getting any easier

to come up with a suspect.

SAM: Marty came to your room while you were

sleeping to change your towels. Could

Marty have found it and taken it? But, I

have to ask, why?

DAME SARAH:

Marty didn’t know where I put it. Marty’d

never find it in a million years. But I’ll go

talk to Marty right now. I’ll see you in a few

minutes, but I still have complete faith and

Found another one!!!

ALL: Oh, wow!

GINGER: I’ll look in her closet. That’s where the

and right out again) Nothing in here!

TEDDY: I’d better read this clue. May tell us

something important.

SCENE 7 - BACK IN THE DRAWING ROOM

DAME SARAH:

RETURN TO THE DRAWING ROOM

OK, ladies, here’s what I found out from

Marty. Marty, indeed, gave me fresh towels

while I was napping. Marty also cleaned

out the mini-refrigerator in my sitting room

and threw all the empty cans I saved into

the laundry chute so Marty could retrieve

them down below.

GEE: I need a coke. It keeps me going. Be right

back. (Start to the kitchen and stop)

SAM: YUK, another coke. She’s nuts!

She’ll rot her stomach!

DAME SARAH:

Please bring me one, too, would you Gee?

You see, I’ve become quite fond of the stuff

myself, and always have quite a collection

of empty cans around my sitting room.

GEE: (Now you can go get the cokes)

SAM: Oops! I didn’t mean it would rot your

stomach, Great-Grandmother. Gee’s been

at it a whole lot longer.

Adult Guide for 10 players twin theme 24

DAME SARAH:

That’s OK, Samantha. Well, anyway,

here’s the stupid part. I’d hidden the ring in

an empty coke can in the fridge. So,

naturally, Marty took out that empty can and

with all the other ones, threw it down the

laundry chute to put in the trash later.

ALLIE: Dame Sarah, can we check the laundry

chute at the other end?

DAME SARAH:

Well, Marty said all the cans were put out

for recycling. I’m afraid the ring may already

be with a million cans at the recycling

center.

BUBBLE: You’re sure Marty didn’t find the ring and

take it out of the can?

DAME SARAH:

Marty says not.

GEE: (coming back into the drawing room)

Dame Sarah, while I was getting our cokes

from the kitchen, I happened to notice a

strange person going through the recycling

and bagging the cans. I’m fairly certain this

person saw me but kept right on bagging

the cans. What could I do? Run out and

it came from a nice shirt or blouse. That’s all

there is here on the ground, though. All the

cans are gone. (Slip button in your pocket)

ALLIE: Someone must have dropped it here. Hey,

wait...maybe the person that Gee saw

bagging the cans dropped it.

BARBIE: How was the stranger dressed, Gee?

GEE: Actually, not like anyone should look who

rummages around in garbage. But, I didn’t

get a real good look at what the person was

wearing - some long-sleeved shirt, I guess.

DAME SARAH:

It looks like the ring is long gone. Let’s go

SCENE 9A - WHAT’S THE STORY?

TEDDY: Marty, you are missing a button from your

sleeve. See, look at your left sleeve. I

believe Annie found it out on the ground by

the recycling bins today.

MARTY: You did, Annie? Oh, thanks. I wondered

what happened to it.

GINGER: Why did we find it there?

GEE: Well, while you, Cookie and Annie left the

conclusion that Marty was the person I saw

out back when I was in the kitchen.

ANNIE: Was that you, Marty?

MARTY: Yes and maybe I can explain.

DAME SARAH:

Explain what? What’s going on?

MARTY: I wanted to collect all the cans before the

recycling truck came today.

ALLIE: Why did you want to do that, Marty?

MARTY: For extra money, Allie. Fannie is

Moreland’s niece. He says she has been

very ill and she has had extremely large

housing bills this winter. It was so very cold

in Canada, as Dame Sarah well knows.

Fanny has no extra money for these high

bills, and also to buy her food, so I’m just

trying to help all I can. Moreland visits her

as often as he can, but that’s all he can do.

BUBBLE: We sure can understand that. How can we

help?

GOLDIE: Yeah, wish we could do something.

COOKIE: Well, I guess that collecting cans is a good

way to earn extra money, but certainly not

a lot.

MARTY: No, not by any means. Anyway, that is the

story.

ANNIE: (hand button to Marty)

Here’s the button, Marty.

MARTY: Thanks, I’ll sew it on later.

TEDDY: If I may ask, Marty, did you sell the cans

MARTY: Why, no, not yet. I thought I’d do that

tomorrow. Moreland helped bag them and

he’ll take them to town.

ALLIE: Girls, maybe the ring is still around!

GEE: Marty, did you by chance find a ring in one

of the cans while you were collecting them?

MARTY: No again, but you don’t think the “treasured

ring” could be in with the cans, do you?

SAM: Yeah, weird, huh?

BARBIE: (running fingers thru’ hair)

Well, we’re right back where we started.

ANNIE: Well, I say we need to go through those

cans anyway before Moreland takes them

away tomorrow.

BARBIE: Let’s do it right now. Marty, will you show

MARTY: I’m okay now. I was just so flabbergasted,

I couldn’t catch my breath.

DAME SARAH:

Where were you? What happened? What

upset you so?

MARTY: Well, just a few minutes ago, actually after

I left you all, my banker called me - he

never calls me ‘cause I have such a very

small account at his bank and he’d never

have any cause to call me.

DAME SARAH:

Slow down. Why did your banker call?

MARTY: I wondered that myself! But, he said there

is a lot of money in my account. When I

told him that he’d made a big mistake, it

must be someone else’s account, he said

that, no, it was my account. Money, a lot of

money, was wired to my account today, and

the only thing he would tell me over the

phone was that it is from the sale of some

company. If I’d come into the bank early

tomorrow morning with you, Dame Sarah,

he’d tell me more. I still think it’s a mistake.

DAME SARAH:

Well, it is all clear, to me. Let me explain.

Everything seems to happen at once,

doesn’t it?

COOKIE: The clue,....my clue - it said the “Greentree

Jewelry Co.” has been sold to someone in

New York City.

DAME SARAH:

Right you are, Cookie. You see, when MJ

and I decided to sell the company, I told Mr.

Blackstone that when it finally sold, to wire

a portion of my share of the profits to the

accounts of my dear faithful, trusted

servants, $75,000 apiece. You have

served me faithfully all these years.

ALL: GASP!! WOW!! COOL!!

TEDDY: Dame Sarah, you are awesome!

MARTY: You mean that all that money in my

account is mine?

Adult Guide for 10 players twin theme 42

DAME SARAH:

And money in Moreland’s and Chauncey’s

and Henry’s accounts as well, belongs to

them. Moreland won’t have to sell the cans

tomorrow.

MARTY: Oh, thank you, Dame Sarah, now he can

pay all Fanny’s housing and food bills and

find her a good doctor, too. Fanny won’t

have a thing to worry about. Aren’t we

fortunate that we are healthy and don’t

have large food bills also.

DAME SARAH:

Where is Moreland, Marty?

MARTY: I don’t have a clue, Dame Sarah. I haven’t

seen him all day. I’ll check his apartment

and give him the great news!

ANNIE: Uh, I just thought of something that none of

right!

TEDDY: You are so right!

BUBBLE: Wish Marty would get back.

SAM: (Open envelope) Okay, I’ll read it. It says:

“Dear Miss Samantha. I found your ring!”

ANNIE: What? He found the ring? How long ago?

ALLIE: Well, where is it? And where is Moreland?

BARBIE: Yeah, if he has the ring and he ran away,

why would he confess to finding it?

GEE: Wait, let Sam finish reading the note.

Adult Guide for 10 players twin theme 48

SAM: Thank you. He writes, “When I learned

from my banker that Dame Sarah had left

me so much money, I didn’t have the heart

to keep the ring, even though my family in

Spain says it rightfully belongs to my niece.

TEDDY: To his niece? Fannie? What’s he talking

about?

GOLDIE: Wait! Could it be that he and his niece,

Fannie are...

GINGER: Related to Daphne?

COOKIE: No, not Daphne—there were certainly no

other boys in the family, remember? So,

Moreland couldn’t be one of her true

descendants.

BUBBLE: Then, who?

SAM: Chesterton! Let me read some more.

He says, “My ancestor is Chesterton, the

eldest son of the Duke of Barcelona. I’m a

direct descendant. Some people in

Barcelona found a family tree and six

months ago wrote me about the family and

the ring.

They had traced the location of the ring

through Daphne’s family and by luck I

happen to be working for Dame Sarah, who

has the ring in her possession. The family

asked me to retrieve it for them.”

ALLIE: This is so not real! What a coincidence!

ANNIE: It sure is! It’s just crazy!

BARBIE: But, where is the ring?

GEE: Maybe he tells us.

TEDDY: Go on, Sam, read some more.

SAM: Okay, it gets weird. “Fannie is my niece,

and she does live in Canada. I was taking

time off to visit her and she’s a demanding

little woman who threatened to have me

killed if I didn’t bring the ring to her. She

and the family claim it rightfully belonged to

Chesterton, not Daphne.” That’s all it says.

He signed his name.

GOLDIE: But, he didn’t say where the ring is.

GINGER: Did he take it with him?

Adult Guide for 10 players twin theme 50

COOKIE: No, he said he “didn’t have the heart to

keep the ring.”

BUBBLE: But, I wonder where it is!

MARTY: I don’t know—unless he left it in his

apartment.

DAME SARAH:

Well, there is nothing else to do but to look

for it in his apartment. Let’s go. (TAKE

THEM TO A ROOM WHICH IS SET ASIDE

ALL: FOLLOW DAME SARAH TO MORELAND’S

APARTMENT

MARTY, TAG ALONG WITH THEM.

SAM: Okay, here we are! Where do we start

looking?

BUBBLE: My clue—remember my clue? It said

something about a plain white envelope

revealing something.

ANNIE: But, we thought that meant Sam’s envelope

with the check in it from Dame Sarah...

Adult Guide for 10 players twin theme 51

ALLIE: Maybe not. It was the last clue.

BARBIE: So, perhaps...

GEE: Let’s look around.

GINGER: My clue said something about a relative

and something missing.

COOKIE: But we thought that was the pearl button off

Marty’s shirt.

TEDDY: Well, it could be something else. What else

is missing? We now know the relationship

between Moreland and Chesterton.

SAM: What’s missing? Gosh, I can’t think

straight. The ring’s missing!!!

TEDDY: Yeah, and think about my clue for a minute.

GINGER: You mean the one about “the unexpected

and the unknown are about to surface...?”

COOKIE: And, “be careful not to travel the wrong

path”???

TEDDY: Yeah, that one!

Adult Guide for 10 players twin theme 52

GOLDIE: Well, what could it mean and do you think

there’s a connection here?

BUBBLE: Maybe...

SAM: Well, we know the ring’s missing. That

must be the answer to Ginger’s clue...

ANNIE: But, now, what about Teddy’s clue?

ALLIE: The first part we know. “The unexpected

and unknown” are the connection between

Moreland and Chesterton and Fannie.

BARBIE: Must be. Now we just need to know

enough to not “travel the wrong path.”

GEE: Path to where? Path to where? Let’s think

scientifically about this for a moment.

SAM: A path?

GEE: Yeah, a path—a wrong path! Maybe,

looking for the ring in the obvious place,

Moreland’s apartment, is the wrong path.

TEDDY: Well, what could possibly be the right path?

Adult Guide for 10 players twin theme 53

GINGER: Where was it hidden to begin with?

COOKIE: Dame Sarah hid it in an empty coke can.

GOLDIE: But, we looked in Dame Sarah’s suite, we

looked in all the recycling before and after

it was bagged. We looked at the bottom of

the laundry chute. Where else would it be?

Is there another place an empty can could

be?

BUBBLE: Let’s go back to the kitchen. Gee thinks

better there. We need her to think about

this.

EVERYONE, HEAD BACK TO THE KITCHEN.

GEE: Thanks, guys! Thanks for unloading the

burden on me!

SAM: Gee, where would you look if you thought

about Teddy’s clue?

GEE: I’ll have to think about that awhile. A coke

will help me think better. (Go to fridge and

pull out empty coke can). Look, an empty

coke can! No full ones in here! And, I’m

thirsty!

Adult Guide for 10 players twin theme 54

TEDDY: Give me that. (Shake can) I think we’ve

found it.

GINGER: Well, empty it—let’s see!

TEDDY: (Shake ring out on counter top)

GEE: I knew it all along! Why do you think I went

to the fridge to get a coke? Takes a

scientific brain, that’s all.

ALL: Yeah, you knew it!!! Ha!!!

SAM: Wow, it is a ring! Could this be my ring?

DAME SARAH:

Let me see it. Yes, Sam, that’s your ring.

ALL: Wow! It’s beautiful!

ALLIE: But, how did Moreland know about the ring

in an empty coke can?

MARTY: I mentioned it as we were bagging the

ANNIE: And, he found the right can and hid it from

you. And the only place he could put it

where we’d find it would be in the fridge.

He knew Gee would find it.

DAME SARAH:

Well, ladies, you’ve done it again! I can’t

thank you enough for all you did to find the

ring.

GEE: I think Moreland had this planned six

months ago. Before he knew we were

coming.

SAM: Yeah, trying to find it, maybe. It was just

luck that Marty told him the ring was in an

empty can.

TEDDY: Then, when he found out about the money,

he found his conscience.

GINGER: Good thing! Do you realize how close Sam

came to losing the ring forever?

COOKIE: And, the tradition?

SAM: Yes, especially the TRADITION!

ANNIE: Look here, guys! A nice pearl-like button,

like it came from a nice shirt or blouse.

That’s all there is here on the ground,

though. All the cans are gone. (Slip button

in your pocket)

ALLIE: Someone must have dropped it here. Hey,

wait...maybe the person that Gee saw

bagging the cans, dropped it.

BARBIE: How was the stranger dressed, Gee?

GEE: Actually, not like anyone should look,

rummaging around in garbage. But, I didn’t

get a real good look at what the person was

wearing - some long-sleeved shirt, I guess.

DAME SARAH:

It looks like the ring is long-gone. Let’s go

back inside. Marty will fix you a bedtime

snack and bring it to the drawing room

while you wind down. Then, I think you all

need to go to bed. I’m going right now.

Adult Guide for 10 players twin theme 26

GEE: Yeah, our brains need to be refreshed - so

we can find this missing ring. I always think

more clearly in the morning anyway.

ALL: Me, too!

DAME SARAH:

Good night, ladies.

ALL: Good night, Dame Sarah.

EVERYONE, RETIRE FOR THE EVENING TO THE

GINGER: Hey, there’s an envelope at my place.

wrong? You all look so sad.

DAME SARAH:

Well, Marty, we lost my treasured ring for

sure.

Adult Guide for 10 players twin theme 28

MARTY: Not the one you were giving to Samantha

yesterday! You haven’t found it?

DAME SARAH:

Afraid not. It’s such a long, sad story.

MARTY, MAKE SURE THE LEFT SLEEVE ON YOUR

SHIRT THAT IS MISSING THE BUTTON IS VISIBLE

TO COOKIE. HOLD IT WHERE SHE CAN SEE IT.

COOKIE: (hit Ginger under the table and whisper to

her loudly)

Hey look, Ginger, Marty’s left sleeve button

is missing.

GINGER: (whisper to Cookie)

The right sleeve button kinda looks like the

one Annie found yesterday. I think Annie

still has it.

GEE: I think I saw you out back yesterday. Was

that you I saw?

MARTY: And, I think I saw you looking out the

kitchen window, so yes, it must have been

me.

SCENE 9 - WHAT’S THE STORY?

TEDDY: Marty, you are missing a button from your

sleeve. See, look at your left sleeve. I

believe Annie found it out on the ground by

the recycling bins yesterday.

MARTY: You did, Annie? Oh, thanks. I wondered

what happened to it.

GINGER: Why did we find it there?

GEE: Well, while you, Cookie and Annie left the

room for a minute, we came to the

conclusion that Marty was the person I saw

out back yesterday when I was in the

kitchen.

ANNIE: Was that you, Marty?

MARTY: Yes, it was and maybe I can explain.

DAME SARAH:

Explain what? What’s going on?

MARTY: I wanted to collect all the cans before the

recycling truck came yesterday.

Adult Guide for 10 players twin theme 32

ALLIE: Why did you want to do that, Marty ?

MARTY: For extra money, Allie. Fannie is

Moreland’s niece. Moreland says she has

been very ill and she has had extremely

large housing bills this winter. It was so

very cold in Canada, as Dame Sarah well

knows. Fanny has no extra money for

these high bills, and also to buy her food,

so I’m just trying to help all I can. Moreland

visits her as often as he can, but that’s all

he can do.

BUBBLE: We sure can understand that. How can we

help?

GOLDIE: Yeah, wish we could do something.

COOKIE: Well, I guess that collecting cans is a good

way to earn extra money, but certainly not

a lot.

MARTY: No, by any means. Anyway, that is the

story.

ANNIE: (hand button to Marty), Here’s the button,

Marty.

MARTY: Thanks, I’ll sew it on later.

TEDDY: If I may ask, Marty, did you sell the cans

yet?

MARTY: Why, no, not yet. I thought I’d do that this

morning.

ANNIE: Well, I say we need to go through those

cans anyway before Moreland takes them

away.

BARBIE: Let’s do it right now. Marty, will you show

us where they are?

Adult Guide for 10 players twin theme 34

SAM: Is it okay, Great-Grandmother?

DAME SARAH:

Sure, go ahead, if you want to. I don’t hold

out much hope, though.

MARTY: Okay, I’d be happy to take you where they

are. Come on, it’s a walk down to the

know.

GEE: Good idea! Gotta be THERE! Nowhere

Adult Guide for 10 players twin theme 36

GINGER: No, it wasn’t with the cans, so...it must be

with the clothes.

COOKIE: Must be, if it came down the chute.

GOLDIE: Yeah, must have fallen out of the can and

into the clothes as everything was coming

down the chute.

BUBBLE: Marty just must have missed it. Hope Marty

hasn’t done the laundry yet.

ALLIE: Quit talking about it, let’s go see if it’s there.

LADIES, TAKE YOUR GUIDES, GO TO THE BOTTOM

SAM: Marty, slow down. What are you trying to

say?

MARTY: I’m okay now. I was just so flabbergasted,

I couldn’t catch my breath.

DAME SARAH:

Where were you? What happened? What

upset you so?

MARTY: Well, just a few minutes ago, actually after I

left you all, my banker called me - he never

calls me ‘cause I have such a very small

account at his bank and he’d never have

any cause to call me.

DAME SARAH:

Slow down. Why did your banker call?

MARTY: I wondered that myself! But, he said there

is a lot of money in my account. When I told

him that he’d made a big mistake, it must be

someone else’s account, he said that, no, it

was my account. Money, a lot of money,

was wired to my account today, and the only

thing he would tell me over the phone was

Adult Guide for 10 players twin theme 40

that it is from the sale of some company. If

I’d come into the bank early tomorrow

morning with you, Dame Sarah, he’d tell me

more. I still think it’s a mistake.

DAME SARAH:

Well, it is all clear, to me. Let me explain.

Everything seems to happen at once,

doesn’t it?

COOKIE: The clue,....my clue - it said the “Greentree

Jewelry Co.” has been sold to someone in

New York City.

DAME SARAH:

Right you are, Cookie, You see, when MJ

and I decided to sell the company, I told Mr.

Blackstone that when it finally sold, to wire

a portion of my share of the profits to the

accounts of my dear faithful, trusted

servants, $75,000 apiece. You have served

me faithfully all these years.

ALL: GASP!! WOW!! COOL!!

TEDDY: Dame Sarah, you are awesome!

MARTY: You mean that all that money in my account

is mine?

DAME SARAH:

And money in Moreland’s and Chauncey’s

and Henry’s accounts as well, belongs to

them. Moreland won’t have to sell the cans.

MARTY: Oh, thank you, Dame Sarah, now he can

pay all Fanny’s housing and food bills and

find her a good doctor, too. Fanny won’t

have a thing to worry about. And, aren’t we

fortunate that we are healthy and don’t have

large food bills also.

DAME SARAH:

Where is Moreland, Marty?

MARTY: I don’t have a clue, Dame Sarah. I haven’t

seen him all day. I’ll check his apartment

and give him the great news!

MARTY, ON YOUR WAY, PUT RING IN EMPTY COKE

DAME SARAH:

Well, now I have another little something to

tell you. As long as everyone knows about

the sale of the company, now is the time for

this surprise to become known.

SAM: What surprise?

DAME SARAH:

This surprise is for you, Samantha and for

you, Barbara.

SAM: But, the ring is enough. I sure wasn’t

expecting anything else. I’m just so sad and

disappointed we couldn’t find it.

that!

ALL: LAUGHTER

SAM: (Open envelope and pull out a piece of

paper) A check!!!

ALL: A check??? Wow!!! Let’s see!!!

will you bring it in, please??

GEE: I’m SO ready for something to eat.

DAME SARAH:

It was wonderful having you all visit. I want

to thank you all so much for looking so hard

SAM: Thank you also, Great-Grandmother. We

had a wonderful time, and again, thank you

from the bottom of my heart for my college

went to find Moreland.

ALLIE: What a neat surprise!

ANNIE: Uh, I just thought of something that none of

us thought of before.

Adult Guide for 10 players twin theme 46

BARBIE: What’s that, Annie?

ANNIE: Moreland—Moreland helped Marty bag the

cans. We don’t know—maybe he found the

ring?

GEE: Gads, I never thought of that—but, you’re

right!

TEDDY: You are so right!

GOLDIE: Why didn’t we think about it before?

GINGER: Well, duh, we just found out that he helped

bag the cans!

COOKIE: Yeah, she’s right!

BUBBLE: Wish Marty would get back.

MARTY, BURST IN BREATHLESSLY

Moreland’s gone! He left a message...

SAM: Thank you. He writes, “When I learned from

my banker that Dame Sarah had left me so

much money, I didn’t have the heart to keep

the ring, even though my family in Spain

says it rightfully belongs to my niece.

TEDDY: To his niece? Fannie? What’s he talking

about?

GOLDIE: Wait! Could it be that he and his niece,

Fannie are...

GINGER: Related to Daphne?

COOKIE: No, not Daphne—there were certainly no

other boys in the family, remember? So,

Moreland couldn’t be one of her true

descendants.

Adult Guide for 10 players twin theme 48

BUBBLE: Then, who?

SAM: Chesterton! Let me read some more. He

says, “My ancestor is Chesterton, the eldest

son of the Duke of Barcelona. I’m a direct

descendant. Some people in Barcelona

found a family tree and six months ago

wrote me about the family and the ring.

He signed his name.

GOLDIE: But, he didn’t say where the ring it.

GINGER: Did he take it with him?

COOKIE: No, he said he “didn’t have the heart to keep

the ring.”

BUBBLE: But, I wonder where it is!

MARTY: I don’t know—unless he left it in his

MARTY, TAG ALONG WITH THEM.

SAM: Okay, here we are! Where do we start

looking?

BUBBLE: My clue—remember my clue? It said

something about a plain white envelope

revealing something.

ANNIE: But, we thought that meant Sam’s envelope

with the check in it from Same Sarah...

ALLIE: Maybe not. It was the last clue.

BARBIE: So, perhaps...

GEE: Let’s look around.

GINGER: My clue said something about a relative and

something missing.

COOKIE: But we thought that was the pearl button off

Marty’s shirt.

TEDDY: Well, it could be something else. What else

is missing? We now know the relationship

between Moreland and Chesterton.

SAM: What’s missing? Gosh, I can’t think straight.

GOLDIE: Well, what could it mean and do you think

there’s a connection here?

BUBBLE: Maybe...

SAM: Well, we know the ring’s missing. That must

be the answer to Ginger’s clue...

ANNIE: But, now, what about Teddy’s clue?

ALLIE: The first part we know. “The unexpected

and unknown” are the connection between

Moreland and Chesterton and Fannie.

Adult Guide for 10 players twin theme 52

BARBIE: Must be. Now we just need to know enough

to not “travel the wrong path.”

GINGER: Where was it hidden to begin with?

COOKIE: Dame Sarah hid it in an empty coke can.

GOLDIE: But, we looked in Dame Sarah’s suite, we

looked in all the recycling before and after it

was bagged. We looked at the bottom of

the laundry chute. Where else would it be?

Is there another place an empty can could

be?

BUBBLE: Let’s go back to the kitchen. Gee thinks

better there. We need her to think about

this.

EVERYONE, HEAD BACK TO THE KITCHEN.

GEE: Thanks, buys! Thanks for unloading the

burden on me!

SAM: Gee, where would you look if you thought

about Teddy’s clue?

GEE: I’ll have to think about that while. A coke

will help me think better. (Go to fridge and

pull out empty coke can). Look, an empty

coke can. No full ones in here. And, I’m

thirsty!

TEDDY: Give me that. (Shake can) I think we’ve

found it.

GINGER: Well, empty it—let’s see!

TEDDY: (Shake ring out on counter top)

GEE: I knew it all along! Why do you think I went

to the fridge to get a coke? Takes a

scientific brain, that’s all.

Adult Guide for 10 players twin theme 54

ALL: Yea, you knew it!!! Ha!!!

SAM: Wow, it is a ring! Could this be my ring?

DAME SARAH:

Let me see it. Yes, Sam, that’s your ring.

ALL: Wow! It’s beautiful!

ALLIE: But, how did Moreland know about the ring

in an empty coke can?

MARTY: I mentioned it as we were bagging the cans.

That’s how he knew.

ANNIE: Ane, he found the right can and hid it from

you. And the only place he could put it

where we’d find it would be in the fridge. He

knew Gee would find it.

DAME SARAH:

Well, ladies, you’ve done it again! I can’t

thank you enough for all you did to find the

ring.

SCENE 1 - IN THE DINING ROOM

SAM: Oh, how awful! Poor Great-Grandmother!

I wonder where she keeps the ring?

ALLIE: I wonder when she saw it last?

ANNIE: Well, she is rather ancient. She probably hid

it and doesn't remember where she hid it.

You know how old people forget things.

BARBIE: Well, Sam says her great-grandmother is

more alert and smarter than all of us most of

the time, even though she is 97 years old!

GEE: I think we ought to find out the answers to

Sam and Allie's questions. Perhaps that will

help. We need to go at this more

scientifically. Need a coke, be right back.

(Go to fridge and bring coke back)

GOLDIE: Gee, you always think we need to be

scientific - how can we find a missing ring

scientifically?

MARTY:

SAM: (take envelope from Marty)

What is it? Shall I open it?

ALL: Sure

SAM: It appears to be a clue. I’ll read it to you.

BUBBLE: There’s your answer, Goldie. We can figure

out who would have access to Great-

Grandmother’s bedroom.

GOLDIE: Do we even know she kept the ring in her

bedroom?

DAME SARAH ARRIVES

SAM: Here's Great-Grandmother now. We've got

lots of questions. We're so glad you're here.

Is Bubble’s necklace missing, too?

DAME SARAH:

BUBBLE: Don’t be upset, Great-Grandmother, we’ll

find it. Didn’t the ring once belong to a

duchess? Please tell us about it.

TEDDY: A duchess? Really? Duchess of what?

Page 70: 00145 Mystery Party Game for Twin Girls - Case of the Missing Ring Mystery Party Game and Kit for 10 girls ages 9 to 12 and 2 adults or older teens. Theme can be an overnight or one

GINGER: Where was the duchess from?

COOKIE: Where did she get it? How MANY

generations ago?

GEE: Well, you know Cookie, probably some

handsome prince gave it to her!

SCENE 2 - SEATED IN THE DRAWING ROOM

DAME SARAH:

GOLDIE: Didn’t they ever see each other again, Dame

Sarah?

DAME SARAH:

ALLIE: His family told him whom he should marry?

How awful!

ANNIE: Yeah! They used to do that - arrange

marriages I mean. Sometimes when they

were only babies their marriage would be

decided, they were forced to marry when

they came of age, and their futures were

already known.

BUBBLE: Yes, it’s true, I read the same books Annie

reads. They were so into arranging

marriages back then.

BARBIE: (Run your fingers thru’ your hair while

talking).

Whatever happened to your great-great-

great-grandmother? Who did she marry?

Page 71: 00145 Mystery Party Game for Twin Girls - Case of the Missing Ring Mystery Party Game and Kit for 10 girls ages 9 to 12 and 2 adults or older teens. Theme can be an overnight or one

GEE: She was probably promised to someone too.

DAME SARAH:

SAM: And Daphne was married at only sixteen?

DAME SARAH:

TEDDY: Girls, we have GOT to find that ring!

GINGER: If we don’t find it - the TRADITION will end.

COOKIE: Let’s go over the facts one more time and

see if we can figure anything out.

GEE: Yeah - let’s be scientific about it. This is

VERY important!

DAME SARAH:

SAM: Well, we know it was there at 4:50 and gone

at 5:50.

ALLIE: It disappeared in an hour.

ANNIE: Yes, while Dame Sarah was napping.

BARBIE: How convenient for someone.

Guest Guide for 10 players twin theme 6

GEE: I wonder who else besides us knew you

were napping, Dame Sarah? Or, ....do you

nap every day at the same time?

DAME SARAH:

ALLIE: (pick up an envelope from the table in the

drawing room) Hey, this has my name on it.

Guess I probably can open it, huh?

ALL: Sure!

SCENE 3 - STILL IN THE DRAWING ROOM

BUBBLE: Well, looks like Marty knew she didn't take

her nap at the regular time, because they

were together in the kitchen until 4: 45.

TEDDY: And...Chauncey, your chauffeur, saw you

when he dropped us off, and Moreland, your

butler, left shortly before supper.

SAM: So, Marty knew what time great-

grandmother took her nap because Marty

was in the library with us until Marty

escorted us into the dining room at 6:00 PM.

We went into the library about 4:45 and

Great- Grandmother went up to her suite at

4:50.

Guest Guide for 10 players twin theme 8

looked out the library window.

GEE: So, no one saw Chauncey since we arrived?

I need a coke - be right back.

(Get coke from refrigerator and return)

GOLDIE: No - he just disappeared after he dropped us

off and said hello to Dame Sarah.

BUBBLE: Right!

ANNIE: (find envelope in back of your guest guide).

I also have an envelope. Gosh, are we all

going to get one? May I read this, too?

ALL: Sure, Annie, go for it!

READ ALOUD CLUE #3 - ANNIE

BUBBLE: So, Moreland’s been visiting his sick niece.

What does that have to do with anything?

ANNIE: Yeah, let’s get back to the problem at hand.

Maybe something about Moreland’s niece

will come up later in our investigation.

BUBBLE: Yeah, right now, it’s so not useful

information.

Page 73: 00145 Mystery Party Game for Twin Girls - Case of the Missing Ring Mystery Party Game and Kit for 10 girls ages 9 to 12 and 2 adults or older teens. Theme can be an overnight or one

Guest Guide for 10 players twin theme 9

SAM: Well, it is certainly obvious that no one saw

Chauncey after he dropped us off. He left

and put the limo in the garage, then went to

the duplex and no one has seen him since.

ALLIE: Was Marty in the library with us the whole

time?

GINGER: I believe so.

ANNIE: Well, it is obvious that the gardener, Henry

had the opportunity to sneak up the stairs to

Dame Sarah's dressing room while he was

at the south end of the house clipping

hedges. The timing is right and look at the

drawing of the mansion. (Go to the blueprint

drawing on the wall). See ... the outside

steps up to the second floor lead from the

balcony right into Dame Sarah's sitting room

and access to her whole suite.

GOLDIE: Henry’s probably the one most likely to have

access to Dame Sarah’s suite 24/7 - besides

Marty, of course.

GINGER: May we go up and have a look, Dame

Sarah?

SCENE 4 - IN DAME SARAH’S BEDROOM SUITE

BARBIE: Anyone would have the opportunity

normally, to sneak up the stairs to the

balcony and into the sitting room, but NOT

while Henry was clipping hedges. He would

see them.

GEE: Let’s ask him...no, maybe not yet. Is Henry

our leading suspect? Cool! Let's see - he

wants to retire in two years. Why would he

want the ring?

COOKIE: Well, duh, WHY would he want the ring? He

could leave the area and then sell the ring

and retire in STYLE!

DAME SARAH:

LOOK ALL AROUND DAME SARAH’S SITTING

ROOM, BEDROOM, AND BALCONY.

SAM: Doesn’t seem to be anything here. I know

you don’t want anyone to know where you

hid the ring when you brought it home,

Great-Grandmother, but it might help us if

we knew.

SCENE 5 - STILL IN DAME SARAH’S SUITE

ANNIE: Well, I guess we can eliminate Mr.

Blackstone and MJ as our suspects since

they haven’t been here since Dame Sarah

brought the ring home from the bank

yesterday.

GOLDIE: Gosh - this sure is getting complicated.

Chauncey your chauffeur, and MJ your

partner, know each other? I wonder what

the relationship is?

TEDDY: Could they be related in some way? Or if

not - could they have been introduced by

Henry, your gardener?

GINGER: But, why would Chauncey and MJ be seen

together? He's a chauffeur and she's a

wealthy gemologist.

SAM: Now - here’s a thought... MJ knew where the

ring was hidden and MJ knows Chauncey

and Chauncey has not been seen since he

brought us to the mansion.

COOKIE: And then there’s Henry. Could he be

involved? He's really the only one with

Guest Guide for 10 players twin theme 14

opportunity, besides Marty. And we know

he’s been here because I saw him clipping

hedges when we were in the library.

GEE: There must be another explanation we aren’t

thinking about. I need a coke - be right

back. (Get coke and stay in kitchen until

called)

BUBBLE: Well, it seems pretty obvious to me.

ANNIE: What does?

BUBBLE: Well, just think about it. MJ knew the hiding

place. Chauncey knows MJ. She could

have mentioned it to Chauncey. Chauncey

is not around. Henry had the opportunity

24/7. So, it is either Chauncey or Henry.

ALLIE: Too cut and dried!

DAME SARAH:

BUBBLE: Could have been a slip of the tongue.

COOKIE: But Dame Sarah says she trusts Chauncey

and Henry and everyone else in her

household. So, it wouldn’t have really

mattered.

Gee, you OK in there?

GEE: (returning from kitchen, holding envelope in

the air and waving it around)

Well, I found one, too!

GEE: An envelope. It was, guess where...on top

of the coke cans in the fridge.

SCENE 6 - STILL IN DAME SARAH’S SUITE

SAM: We all think Henry had the opportunity.

Cookie saw him trimming hedges around the

house while we were in the library playing

games.

ALLIE: We hadn't seen Chauncey since 4:45 and

Moreland left shortly before supper and

wasn’t seen returning.

BARBIE: Some strange goings-on between Chauncey

and MJ. They know each other.

ANNIE: Wonder where you put the ring, Dame

Sarah? Didn’t Chauncey know you brought

it home?

DAME SARAH:

GEE: Henry didn’t know? Why is that?

DAME SARAH:

GEE: But, I remember you telling us Henry works

for MJ also. He may have found out from

her.

ALLIE: So, MJ could have mentioned it to both

Henry and Chauncey. What is the

relationship between MJ and Chauncey,

Dame Sarah?

DAME SARAH:

BUBBLE: So, that’s the relationship. We were

wondering. It is just not getting any easier to

come up with a suspect.

SAM: Marty came to your room while you were

sleeping to change your towels. Could

Marty have found it and taken it? But, I have

to ask, why?

DAME SARAH:

SAM: Well, nothing here. Why don’t we go back to

the drawing room!

TEDDY: Ok, just let me take another look. We didn’t

really look in Dame Sarah’s bathroom, did

we? Isn’t that near where her laundry chute

is located? (Go into bathroom, find

envelope, come back out immediately with

envelope in hand). Found another one!!!

Guest Guide for 10 players twin theme 18

ALL: Oh, wow!

GINGER: I’ll look in her closet. That’s where the

laundry chute is located. (Go into the closet

DAME SARAH:

back. (Start to the kitchen and stop)

SAM: YUK, another coke. She’s nuts!

She’ll rot her stomach!

DAME SARAH:

GEE: (Now you can go get the cokes)

SAM: Oops! I didn’t mean it would rot your

stomach, Great-Grandmother. Gee’s been

at it a whole lot longer.

DAME SARAH:

ALLIE: Dame Sarah, can we check the laundry

chute at the other end?

DAME SARAH:

BUBBLE: You’re sure Marty didn’t find the ring and

take it out of the can?

Guest Guide for 10 players twin theme 20

DAME SARAH:

GEE: (coming back into the drawing room)

Dame Sarah, while I was getting our cokes

from the kitchen, I happened to notice a

strange person going through the recycling

and bagging the cans. I’m fairly certain this

person saw me but kept right on bagging

the cans. What could I do? Run out and

attack a complete stranger?

the ring or another clue.

bagging the cans dropped it.

us thought of before.

my banker that Dame Sarah had left me so

with the check in it from Dame Sarah...

ALLIE: Maybe not. It was the last clue.

BARBIE: So, perhaps...

GEE: Let’s look around.

GINGER: My clue said something about a relative and

something missing.

COOKIE: But, we thought that was the pearl button off

Marty’s shirt.

TEDDY: Well, it could be something else. What else

is missing? We now know the relationship

between Moreland and Chesterton.

SAM: What’s missing? Gosh, I can’t think straight.

The ring’s missing!!!

TEDDY: Yeah, and think about my clue for a minute.

GINGER: You mean the one about “the unexpected

and the unknown are about to surface...?”

COOKIE: And, “be careful not to travel the wrong

path”???

Guest Guide for 10 players twin theme 40

TEDDY: Yeah, that one!

BARBIE: Must be. Now we just need to know enough

to not “travel the wrong path.”

GEE: Path to where? Path to where? Let’s think

scientifically about this for a moment.

SAM: A path?

GEE: Yeah, a path—a wrong path! Maybe,

looking for the ring in the obvious place,

Moreland’s apartment, is the wrong path.

GOLDIE: But, we looked in Dame Sarah’s suite, we

looked in all the recycling before and after it

was bagged. We looked at the bottom of the

laundry chute. Where else would it be? Is

there another place an empty can could be?

BUBBLE: Let’s go back to the kitchen. Gee thinks

better there. We need her to think about

this.

EVERYONE, HEAD BACK TO THE KITCHEN

GEE: Thanks, guys! Thanks for unloading the

burden on me!

SAM: Gee, where would you look if you thought

about Teddy’s clue?

GEE: I’ll have to think about that awhile. A coke

will help me think better. (Go to fridge and

pull out empty coke can). Look an empty

coke can. No full ones in here! And, I’m

TEDDY: Give me that. (Shake can) I think we’ve

found it.

GINGER: Well, empty it—let’s see!

TEDDY: (Shake ring out on counter top)

GEE: I knew it all along! Why do you think I went

to the fridge to get a coke? Takes a

scientific brain, that’s all.

ALL: Yeah, you knew it!!! Ha !!!

SAM: Wow, it is a ring! Could this be my ring?

DAME SARAH:

ALL: Wow! It’s beautiful!

ALLIE: But, how did Moreland know about the ring

in an empty coke can?

MARTY:

ANNIE: And, he found the right can and hid it from

you. And the only place he could put it

where we’d find it would be in the fridge. He

bagging the cans, dropped it.

BARBIE: How was the stranger dressed, Gee?

GEE: Actually, not like anyone should look,

rummaging around in garbage. But, I didn’t

get a real good look at what the person was

wearing - some long-sleeved shirt, I guess.

DAME SARAH:

down the chute.

Hot potatoObject: not to be caught with the ball when the music stops.

Preparations: you’ll need a beach ball and some fast, upbeat music. All players form acircle.

The game: while the music plays toss the ball from player to player around the circle.

When the music stops (you’ll need a person to do this) the player with the ball is out ofthe game. Play until only one player has not been caught with the potato.

Or, have the “out” player go to the center until someone else is caught and they can

trade places and get back into the game. In this case play for as long as the kids arelaughing.

GotchaObject: the person in the center tries to guess who has the button while those in the

circle try to avoid being caught with the button.

Preparation: have two buttons, coins or similar small objects available.

The game: the players sit in a circle, and one child is chosen to be the guesser. Theguesser sits in the center of the circle and closes his eyes, while another child is given

the button. Upon instruction, the players begin to pass the button from hand to handaround the circle. They all keep their hands in constant motion so that it looks as if

they all are passing the button at the same time. The guesser at any time can say“gotcha” and opens her eyes. The players quickly stop passing the button and the

center player tries to guess who has the button. When she guesses correctly bypointing and saying "gotcha" she trades places with that player, who then takes his turn

in the center and the passing and guessing continues.

We can whistleObject: to be the first person to successfully eat their crackers and whistle as soon afterchewing them as possible (but not swallowing).

Preparation: provide a cracker to each player.

The game: to begin the game, have all the players practice whistling. The players are

each given a cracker. When instructed, chew the cracker but don’t swallow it. The firstone to whistle is the winner.

Cut the bottom margin from the top two papers (1 and 2).Cut the right margins from the two left papers (1 and 3).

Line the papers together so the image is lined up correctly at the top and the bottom..Put small pieces of tape to secure the papers, use just enough to be able to turn it overand still have the image stay together.

Attach as much tape as you want to the back of the poster to secure it together.

You may wish to trim the overall margins so they are even.
