CLEAN WATER.In Iraq, only 86.3% of the population have

access to safe, clean water (WASHWatch, 2015).

The LFCT want to increase this by working with a local

partner to spread water, sanitation and hygiene education

and install a LIFESAVER C2 system to provide needy

communities with safe water at the turn of a tap.

This will save lives and restore health, allow children to attend school free

from sickness and families to maximize their productive time tending to

their livelihoods. The LFCT has identified a site, on the River Euphrates, close

to the Holy Shrines of Imam Hussein a.a. and his brother Hadhrat Abbas a.s.

This is a historic river that served Imam Husseins camp.

Taken for granted across much of world, access to safe, clean water is a daily struggle for many Iraqis. With diarrhea remaining the

second biggest killer of children under five worldwide and half of the hospital beds in developing countries filled with people suffering

from diseases caused by poor water (Wateraid, 2015) there is great need for a simple, immediate and cost effective solution to restore

health once again to vulnerable communities. No person should be forced to drink dirty water.

The LFCT has partnered up with LIFESAVER systems to equip marshlands villagers with LIFESAVER water purification equipment.

Used by OXFAM, Save the Children, The British Red Cross and endorsed by the UK Department for International Development (DFID)

LIFESAVER systems are fantastic products that will bring huge benefit to hundreds of individuals. LIFESAVER technology is the worlds

first all-in-one portable ultra-filtration system that removes all viruses, bacteria, cysts, parasites, fungi and all other microbiological

waterborne pathogens without the need for chemicals, power or UV light. The products are simple and intuitive to use with failsafe

technology that filters out even the smallest harmful pathogens.

Developed in 2012, the C2 is a 750 litre water container and filtration system that will take water straight from the River Euphrates

and filter it at a rate of 12 litres per minute at the turn of a tap. Nearby communities can utilize this intuitive technology that takes just

one hour to install in the knowledge that they have perfectly safe drinking water at their fingertips. There are over 2,500 C2s across the

world help to install one more today, and the first in Iraq.

The Army of Yazid cut off water from the river to the camp and all its inhabitants for three days. This site has further prominence,

as Hadhrat Abbas a.s. was martyred when he went to fetch water for Sayyidah Sukaina (s.a.) from this very river. With your help,

this significant river restore health and provide safe water to nearby communities and passers-by for up to 18 years.
