Other Terms Easy Document Management, Registry keys Reason and Prerequisites Relevant only for SAP Easy Document Management 7.0 and above Solution In easyDMS 7.0, the registry entries have been classified in two groups: - Centrally controlled (set in HKLM section by Admin during installation process) and - User controlled (set by user). Also, Admin has a flexibility to allow user to set a registry entry in user area thus moving it from centrally controlled (HKLM) section to make it user specific. 1. Functional Keys: 1.1 Centrally Controlled Registry Values: The following entries are controlled centrally. The administrator can give users control by setting the <entry name>_AllowUser value to 1. - AllowSavePassword (DWORD): If set to 0, then the user can not save password.If set to 1, then it works as standard that is user is allowed to save password. Default value is 1. - CheckBeforeLogoff (DWORD): If it is set to 1, a dialog box will appear showing all the checked out files before logging off from easyDMS. Default value is 0. - CheckFrontEnd (DWORD): If set to 1, easyDMS will check the backend customization to get the correct Frontend type to open an original. Default value is 0. - DateSearchPick (DWORD; 1=active): Activates Date Picker in search dialog under Classification tab for date fields. (This registry has some restrictions please refer to note: 990018 for more information). Default value is 1. - DeleteLocalFile (DWORD; 1=active): This setting will ignore the local file deletion settings in standard easyDMS setting Tab and will delete the local copy of the file every ten seconds. This registry setting will only work when "Lifetime of Copies in File Buffer" is a non-zero value. Default value is 0. - DisableAutoCheckin (DWORD): If its value is set to 1 then files will not be checked in automatically anymore. EasyDMS checks in files when there is no lock on the files. Applications like notepad and mspaint doesn't keep lock on the file so autocheckin behaves differently with different applications. Default value is 0. - DisableThumbnails (DWORD): If set to 1, this registry entry will disable the creation of thumbnails from EasyDMS interface. Default value is 0. - FolderAlwaysWithFolderIcon (DWORD; 1 = active): Specifies if the system should also display folders with the folder icon if the document info record contains an original. If you specify value 0, the file icon is displayed. User should logoff and close the explorer before changing this registry entry. Default value is 0. If 'Show Thumbnails' option is enabled in the Layout then that would be given preference over this registry entry. - MaintainSuperiorDocument (DWORD): If set to 1, shows superior documents details in technical details tab. Default value is 0. - MoveToRecycleBin (DWORD): If Set to 1 after deleting from buffer all the files will be moved to Recycle bin.If (value 0) then files will be deleted permanently. Solution 

In easyDMS 7.0, the registry entries have been classified in two groups:- Centrally controlled (set in HKLM section by Admin during installation process) and- User controlled (set by user).

Also, Admin has a flexibility to allow user to set a registry entry in user area thus moving it fromcentrally controlled (HKLM) section to make it user specific.

1. Functional Keys: 

1.1 Centrally Controlled Registry Values: The following entries are controlled centrally. The administrator can give users control by settingthe <entry name>_AllowUser value to 1.

- AllowSavePassword (DWORD): If set to 0, then the user can not save password.If set to 1, then itworks as standard that is user is allowed to save password. Default value is 1. 

- CheckBeforeLogoff (DWORD): If it is set to 1, a dialog box will appear showing all the checkedout files before logging off from easyDMS. Default value is 0.

- CheckFrontEnd (DWORD): If set to 1, easyDMS will check the backend customization to get thecorrect Frontend type to open an original. Default value is 0.

characteristic value assignments (see Note 1444113). Default value is 0.

- ShowSynchErrMsg (DWORD): If set to 1, the error messages during synchronization willappear.Default value is 0 so that error message are suppressed by default during synchronization.

- SortDocTypeDescription (DWORD): Specifies whether the document types are to be sorted after theabbreviation (value 1) or after the short text (value 0; this is the default). Default value is 0.

- StopPropExchangeToR3(DWORD): If set to 1, updating the document data from file properties isstopped and allows only updating of file properties from document data. Default value is 0.

- EditWithPropertiesDialogOnly (DWORD): If set to 1 and when 'Edit Original' is disabled using theregistry entry , 'DisableContextMenuItems', then this registry will allow user to edit originalattached to document info recorrd only through SAP Properties Dialog. Default value is 0. Thisregistry entry is valid from the next available patch/SP of SAP Easy Document Management 7.0 SP09and SP02 Patch1 of SAP Easy Document Management 7.1.

1.2 Centrally Controlled Registry Values (Only from HKLM Registry Values): The administrator cannot give users control by setting the <entry name>_AllowUser value to 1.

- DisableRFCTimeOut: To enable/disable the option to set the RFC time out. Default value is 0.

- DisableLifeTime: To enable/disable the option 'Lifetime (in minutes) of copies in the filebuffer'. Default value is 0.

- DisableContextMenuItems (REG_SZ): Standard easyDMS context menu options can be hidden using thisentry. Any number of the entries can be entered to hide options from standard EasyDMS ContextMenu. Refer to note 983648 for more information. 

- DisableWorkDir: To enable/disable the option to choose the Work directory. Default value is 0. 

- HelpFilePath: This registry is used to open the help documentation. Enter the path of the document

in this registry value. If no value is entered, the help documentation is opened from theinstallation folder.

- DisableSysDestination (DWORD): To enable/disable the SAP Destinations button on the logon dialog.Default value is 0.

- CacheOriginalExtns (REG_SZ): Caching of originals based on file extensions is maintained in thisregistry entry. If set to '*' no originals will be cached.If set to empty(Default) all originals

will be cached. Originals stamped/watermarked with backend exits during download may have toconsider setting this registry key.

E.g. If CacheOriginalExtns is maintained as 'pdf;tif' , then the originals which havethese extensions will not be cached.

- DisableChangeOffline: To enable/disable the field 'Allow changes in offline mode' on thepreferences dialog. Default value is 0.

- DisableEmptyUsergroups: If set to 1, the user groups with empty names and descriptions will be

hidden on User group dialog. Default value is 0. This registry entry is valid from SP08 of EasyDocument Management 7.0 and SP01 of Easy Document Management 7.1. 

- DisableLongTextButton: If set to 1, the Long text button on the SAP Properties dialog will bedisabled. Default value is 0. This registry entry is valid only for SAP Easy Document Management 7.1from the next available Patch/SP of SP02 Patch 5.

1.3 HKCU Registry Values: The following entries can be controlled by the user:

- AutoInheritedAuth (DWORD): If set to 1, User becomes Admin by default and authorizations of parentfolder will be inherited. Default value is 0.

- CreateDocsWithManyOriginals (DWORD): When you import multiple files (using Drag&Drop orCut/Copy/Paste), this specifies if the system creates one document with multiple originals (value1),or a separate document for each original (value 0).If you enter value 2, the system issues a

query. Default value is 0.- CreateDocsWithoutDlg (DWORD): When you import multiple files (using Drag&Drop or Cut/Copy/Paste),this specifies if the system creates the documents without dialog (value 1) or with dialog (value0). If you enter value 2, the system issues a query. If the creation without dialog is unsuccessful,the dialog is displayed (for example, to enter missing data). Default value is 1.

- DisableCharacterHierarchy (DWORD): If set to 1, Performance during the navigation of documenttypes during creation will increase. But we can not maintain the characteristic values for multilevel and multi value hierarchy. Default value is 1.How ever if the value of registryentry 'CreateDocsWithManyOriginals' is set to 1 then user will be always propmted with Createdialog.

- Doc.Create.Dokar.(REG_SZ): Is set automatically with document type for any DIR that is created.Can be set by the user prior to document creation so that, this document type will be choosen as thedefault for the next document creation.

- FileBuffer.LifeTime(DWORD): Is Set automatically when entry 'LifeTime (in Minutes) of Copies inFile Buffer' is set in settings. Default value is 10.

- Folder.Create.Dokar.(REG_SZ): Is set automatically with document type of the folder that iscreated in EasyDMS. Can be set by the user as Default for the subsequent creation of Folder with agiven document type.

- NoLoad (KEY): You can enter program names that should not load the enhancement as String(REG_SZ) values for the following registry key. The name is the program file name in this case (thusfor example,"winword.exe" for Microsoft Word), the value remains empty.

- RFC.Timeout(DWORD): Is set automatically when entry 'Minutes before RFC connection will beterminated automatically' is set in the settings. Default value is 0.

- ShellView.DblClickAction(REG_SZ):Is Set automatically when entry 'Action on Double-click in theExplorer View' is set in the settings. Default value is 'view'.

- TempFileNameMasks (REG_SZ): Configures which files should be treated as "temporary" (see Note790434).

- Workdirectory(REG_SZ): Is set automatically with value that is set in the settings for entry'Work Directory'.

- Ask.UndoCheckout(DWORD): If set to 1, and on selection of 'Exit Edit mode' option from contextmenu, a message box will be poped up for confirmation. Default value is 0. 

- DisableSyncOnLogin (DWORD): If set to 1, this registry key disables automatic synchronization ofoffline folders at login. Default value is 0. 

- PlainSearch (DWORD): If set to 1, search will behave in a similar way as in CV04N transaction,that is no authorization check will be performed during search (this will increase the search ,performance).If set to 0, the search behavior remains unchanged. Default value is 0.

- DisableMultiSelect (DWORD): If set to 1, the user can select only first column in SAP EasyDocument Management.This entry improves Drag and Drop, Copy and Paste, and folder browsing in SAPEasy Document Management. Default value is 0.

- UniqueUserGroup (DWORD): If set to 1, From Easy DMS application user can not create user groupswith same name. (Note 1279294 needs to be implemented for this registry key to be effective).Default value is 0.

- UploadWithNoCallBack (DWORD): If set to 1, the upload of documents into the content server isdone without using the sapftp.dll and saphttp.dll (present in the installation folder). Instead itis done through sapftp.exe and saphttp.exe in a similar manner as, it is done in R3. Default value

is 0.

- Doc.ChangeAllowedOffline(DWORD): Is set automatically if entry 'Allow changes in offline mode'is checked in the settings. Default value is 1. 

2. Keys related to Tracing: The following entries can be controlled by the user (HKCU Registry values) :

- ActivateObjectTrace (DWORD; 1 = active): activates the trace entries when you create and releaseobjects (such as CShellFolder, CEasyDocument, CSapRfcFunction and so on)- ActivateParsingMessage (DWORD; 1 = active): Activates the output of performance measurement whilereading the document structure.

- ActivateProfiling (DWORD; 1 = active): Starts logging optionally; gives a list of all loggedfunctions with the number of calls and the time taken in file "C":"C:\\EasyDocMgmt_Profile.txt";Only works if the trace is activated overall ("ActivateTrace").

- ActivatePropTrace (DWORD; 1 = active): Activates the trace of the file properties; before eachcheck in and check out of files, you can save the current file properties (internal name and value)to a text file using a dialog box. 

- ActivateTimeoutTrace (DWORD; 1 = active): Activates the trace for the automatic logoff; a"TimeoutTraceDir" (string value) must also be entered for this.

- ActivateTrace (DWORD; 1 = active): Activate the "extended trace" (see Note 661600).
