Blog Glossary

Audioblog (Podcast): A blog that consists of mostly voice recordings.

Blogger: A person who writes a blog.

Blogging platform: Software that is used to create the blog. Common sites include Wordpres and

Blogger (Blogspot).

Categories: A collection of topic-specific posts. Use tags to help readers find your blog more easily.

Comments: A section (usually at the end of the blog) that allows readers to leave their remarks about

your post.

Dashboard: This is the homepage for your blog. It shows all the administrative functions for posting,

editing and other tools.

Podcast: A combination of the words “iPod” and “broadcasting,” but is not limited to iPods. A podcast

can consist of voice and video recordings.

Post: A blog entry or article that has been published. Be sure to add links to other sites, photos,

categories and tags to your posts, making them more interactive.

Reader: This section keeps track of the blogs you follow, recommends blogs to follow and shows which

social media connections have their own blogs. You can also explore general topics to find more blogs to

follow.

Subscribe (Follow): Allows readers to receive notifications when new entries have been published. You

can find all the blogs you follow in your Reader.

Tags: A label or keyword helps readers identify the main topics of individual blog postings.
