An assassin is an agile champion that specializes in killing or disabling high value

targets. Focused on infiltration, deception, and mobility, assassins are opportunistic

hunters who find favorable moments within a fight before jumping into the fray.

Regardless of the size of the enemy team, assassins specialize in positioning and

artful killing. They strike when the time is right – no sooner, no later.

A marksman is a ranged attacker that sacrifices defensive power and utility to

focus on dealing strong, continuous damage to individual targets. Typically

focused on using their basic attacks more than their abilities, marksmen have the

capability to scale and deal out devastating levels of damage in the late phase of

any game.

Fighters are close range combatants that possess a mix of offensive and defensive

capabilities. While they don't have as much utility as a tank or as much damage as

an assassin, a fighter's damage will add up over time to make it a major threat.

Each fighter has a unique blend of mobility, damage, disruption and durability.

Mages are mostly ranged champions who prioritize powerful abilities over basic

attacks. Typically mages are characterized by some combination of long-range, area-

effect or high-utility spells to get the job done. A skilled mage can have a huge impact

on any team with their versatile skillsets and flexible playstyle.

Supports make plays by enabling their allies through buffs and heals, or by

disrupting enemy lines through crowd control. From laning to late game

teamfights, supports create advantages and opportunities for their teammates to

capitalize on. A skilled support gives their team the edge it needs to claim victory,

and can turn the tide of battle with just one well-timed play.

Tanks are durable, front-line champions that help lock down enemies and start

fights. They're usually found leading the charge, choosing the right times and

situations to initiate aggression. Many tanks can also protect their more fragile

teammates by stunning or pushing around dangerous foes and limiting their

damage potential.

One of the most played games on the planet, and

considered by many to the best MOBA available; exactly

how did League of Legends become the best of the best?

The journey began over 4 years ago in July 2008 as the

newly formed Riot Games announced the acquisition of

$7 million funding from Benchmark Capital and Firstmark

Captial. Describing Riot Games as an "innovative studio"

Brandon Beck, CEO at Riot Games, said that Riot Games

would be focusing on "delivering first-rate experiences to

a targeted online audience". League of Legends

(previously known as League of Legends: Clash of Fates)

is a multiplayer online battle arena (MOBA) genre video

game developed by Riot Games.

Review By: Frénzỳ CriXãlį| IGN: PhreakSonic

A spectacle that attracted 1.6 million viewers for the final

alone, concluded with FnaticMSI etching their names in

history as the first winners of what is currently becoming

the fastest growing competitive market in gaming. 2011

was also the same year that Riot Games released the

famous League of Legends Infographic, an image that

boasted staggering figures for the top MOBA game. 11.5

million players a month, 15 billion Champion kills; 10.5

million hours played everyday and a massive increase to

the Season Two prize pool to $5 million.

Two main protagonists for the popular Warcraft III mod,

Defense of the Ancients: Allstars (commonly abbreviated

as DotA), Steve "Guinsoo" Feak and Steve "Pendragon"

Mescon are involved with Riot Games in the process of

making of League of Legends. Guinsoo created DotA:

Allstars from the original DotA, created by Eul, by adding

his own mix of content, including over 40 heroes,

numerous items, and various gameplay changes. Guinsoo

then passed DotA: Allstars on to its current developer,

Icefrog. Pendragon, who is the Director of Community

Relations for Riot Games, helped create the DotA: Allstars

website along with its forums, and is still currently

working on DotA: Allstars alongside League of Legends.

The core game is FREE TO PLAY

The beginning of League of Legends' development was sparked

at the close of 2005 with the idea of a standalone spiritual

successor to the popular Warcraft III mod, Defense of the

Ancients. League of Legends was born "when a couple of very

active DotA community members believed that the gameplay

was so much fun and so innovative that it represented the

spawning of a new genre and deserved to be its own

professional game with significantly enhanced features and

around-game services. Riot Games was co-founded by Brandon

Beck and Marc Merrill. Together, they partnered with some of

the key creative minds behind the creation of DotA: Allstars,

Steve "Guinsoo" Feak and Steve "Pendragon" Mescon, in

League of Legends' core development.

Riot Games officially opened its office in September 2006. The

company currently has about one hundred staff members

working on League of Legends, "including their robust

technology platform to service and operate the game as well as

a team dedicated to community relations. According to Marc

Merrill, when creating the various champions in the game,

instead of leaving the champion creation to just a few people,

they decided to open up the champion creation process to

everyone in the company based upon a template in which they

could vote on which champions made it into the game.
