Meade School District 46-1 “To build knowledge and skills for success today and tomorrow” Kindergarten through Third Grade Physical Education COURSE PLANNER Course Description: Physical Education, Grades K-3 Students will be instructed in Movement activities, Games, Loco-motor activities, Cardiovascular/ fitness activities, Manipulative Activities. Instructional Philosophy: Students will be expected to learn the different types of loco-motor movement, and participate in the Physical Best Program. Students will be expected to successfully make problem- solving decisions. They will be expected to practice good sportsmanship while involved in any activity. Students will learn through demonstration, guided practice and self- discovery skills involving motor skills. Students will work independently, with partners, and in teams. Students will be evaluated through individual participation, written tests, and instructor observation. Community involvement includes parent resources, community specialists, and speakers. Course Goals: Students will: Gain an awareness of their strengths and weaknesses as they progress in their various physical activities. Maintain a good level of physical activity in their daily lives. Practice good sportsmanship/character in all levels of their daily activities. Enhance their motor skills. Master the social skills needed in a classroom environment. Enhance understanding of health and health concepts. Instructional health units as deemed appropriate.

Instructional Delivery Plan: Instruction and example in every unit will be necessary. Students will have the time in every class period to practice the skills needed to complete the project.

The instructor will provide direction, demonstration, and outline the necessary skills needed for completion of the lesson. Evaluation and grading will be outlined at the beginning of each unit.

The instructor will evaluate the skills necessary to complete the unit. Students will need to provide the understanding of rules and concepts necessary to complete the skills. All this will be accomplished through student performance in practicing the skill and also in class discussions.
