Collage is a technique of an art production, primarily used in the visual arts, where the artwork is made from an assemblage of different forms, thus creating a new whole. A collage may sometimes include magazine and newspaper clippings, ribbons, paint, bits of colored or handmade papers, portions of other artwork or texts, photographs and other found objects, glued to a piece of paper or canvas.

Colajul este un procedeu in arta modernă care constă in compunerea unui tablou prin lipirea unor elemente eterogene, ca bucati de ziar, fasii de hartie sau tesaturi colorate,hartie handmade, alte fotografii sau orice alte materiale gasiti, in scopul obținerii unui efect de ansamblu.

THE 70’S

Termenul românesc colaj provine din cuvântul francez collage, cu acelasi ințeles ca si in limba română. La rândul său, acest termen francez este un derivat al cuvântului francez colle: „lipici”, prin intermediul cuvântului coller: „a lipi”.
