Who Can I Interview?Directions: Brainstorm at least three adults you can think of that would be good interviewees. Remember, your task is to interview (preferably) someone who has immigrated into the United States. If you do not know an immigrant, you could interview a direct descendent who knows a lot about family member who immigrated. If you still can’t think of a person like this, you can interview someone who has made a decision to make a big move within America.

Once you’ve thought of someone, note where they moved from, why they’re a good person to interview and how you plan on interviewing them (phone, in person, Skype, etc.)

Interviewee’s Name

Home Country (or state)

This person is a good choice because… I will interview them by…

After thinking about who the best candidate is, highlight the row that matches the person you’ve chosen to interview. Explain who your final choice is and why you picked them.

How Do People Become Part of Our Country?R E F L E C T I O N O F L E A R N I N G

You have spent a great deal of time learning about why and how people immigrate to the United States. You have learned that immigrants have to compare benefits and drawbacks of immigrating and you’ve learned how to evaluate these costs and benefits. You made this knowledge come alive through your interview of an immigrant. To wrap everything up, you taught your classmates about this special person and their immigration journey.

Directions: Reflect on your learning through this unit. Write at least one paragraph explaining what you learned. What do you think the most important idea from this unit was? Does anything still confuse you? What was your favorite part of this unit?
