You need to use your exercise book and the information below to revise for your assessment.Jewish beliefs about God
The Torch, the Cockerel and the Donkey
Nobody in the village would let Rabbi Akiva stay with them. He said ‘Whatever is God’s will is for the best.’ He slept in the field with his torch, donkey and cockerel. During the night a lion killed the donkey, a fox ate the cockerel and the wind blew out the torch. When he awoke, he found that the village had been attacked in the night and all the villagers had been killed.
Jonah and the Whale
Jonah did not obey God when he was asked to go to Nineveh to teach the people to be sorry for being wicked. Jonah tried to escape on a ship but was thrown overboard during a terrible storm and got swallowed by a whale. After praying to God he was thrown up on land and followed God’s commands.
