Mrs. Sanders’ Room 16 News Note IMPORTANT MATH FACTS: 9+6=15 9+7=16 9+8=17 6+5=11 7+4=11 Tuesday, 12/11, is TOWNSHIP TUESDAY! Please have your child wear red to school on Tuesday. Our lesson will be on being good listeners. On Fun Friday the children made another Native American stick game. It uses dried beans for keeping score. I warned the class to keep the game away from babies and small children because little ones think beans are to eat, put in their ears or noses. Each game has a scoring card with it. Have fun tossing the sticks and using the dried beans to keep score! Important Reminders to Parents Sometimes the blower in room 16

makes the room chilly. It would be helpful if your child brought in a sweatshirt or sweater to keep in the coat area.Remember to initial your child’s homework sheet or assignment book daily and to empty his/her folder.Remember to label all your child’s belongings with his/her name!

MASCOT NEWS!When Seabiscuit comes to stay with your child, please take good care of him. Remember to return Seabiscuit and his bag on Monday (or the next school day), so your child can share their adventures with the class. Help your child draw and write about their weekend adventures in the journal. In class, your child will get to read and show the illustration to the class. The class enjoys asking questions about the mascot’s visit. If you take a picture of your child and the mascot, feel free to add it to your child’s journal page.

BOOK ENVELOPES The book envelopes are going home every day. Be sure to initial each day that your read together. Your child should be reading the book(s) in the envelope and his/her library book each day. You may enter the library book title on the sheet and check it as a “Read to Me” on the sheet. On Thursdays, students select a book that was read aloud to the class. Please read that book to your child. Reading together each day is an important part of learning to read! Thank you for your help. Remember to fill in the Book It! Calendar and a bone each day!.
