Hello everyone, the parent ran fundraiser for this month is flavored meat sticks by County Meats. If you would like to help with this fundraiser or have any ideas for future fundraisers stop in to see Jody.

Summer Program for the School Age students I am excited for the summer with all our school age students in attendance. We are looking forward to lots of fun activities planned for these students. We are going to try a summer program that gives them consistency along with interactive learning. We will be providing them with hands on activity that we hope will further their curiosity and learning. The staff has wonderful things planned for our school age students. Here is what is to come: Arts and Crafts, Science, Nature, Team work, Cooking, and lessons from Pastor on Kenya. We are hoping to run the summers more like camps to keep our students engaged, while still having fun. Please let me know if you have any questions about our summer programs. Jody

FundraiserWe will be selling meat sticks from Country Meats. There is a variety of flavors that you can choose to sell. They are a dollar per stick if you would like to purchase any for yourself or to sell please see Jody or Amber. These are great for hikes, road trips, and everything else in between.

Students of the month…The first student for June is Tucker. Tucker loves to eat Mac and Cheese and his favorite color is red. He likes to watch the movie Alvin and the Chipmunks. Tucker’s favorite thing about coming to Trinity is playing outside with his friends.

The second student of the month is Peyton. Peyton’s favorite thing to eat is spaghetti and she loves the movie Frozen. Her favorite color is pink and she loves coming to Trinity so she can play with all her friends.

Child Care Committee Meeting Report from

May 23, 2017~The Child Care Income is coming closer to covering the employee costs; the committee is monitoring carefully to see if positive trends continue. ~Fundraisers have been a benefit, don’t forget to come and sell our Country Meat Sticks~Preschool children that attend elsewhere and then attend Trinity for after school care will be charged the hourly after school rate.~This summer we are concentrating on a summer program for theschool age students. Despite a long waiting list, we do not plan to open a new room at this time.

Recipe of the monthS'more Pie Pops: serves 12Prep time 20 mins Cook time 20 mins Total time 40 minsIngredients: 2 Frozen Deep Dish 9" Pie Crusts, defrosted1 Hershey's Creamy Milk Chocolate BarMini Marshmallows1 egg, beaten6" Lolly Pop SticksDirections: 1. Preheat the oven to 350F.2. Remove the defrosted pie crusts from the pie plate and roll flat.3. Using a flower shaped cookie cutter, cut out as many shapes from each pie crust as you can. Set aside half of the pieces.4. Arrange half of the shapes on a parchment lined baking sheet, being sure to offset them to leave room for the lolly pop sticks.5. Brush the beaten egg onto each of the shapes to cover completely.6. Gently press the lolly pop stick into each of the shapes, pressing down and embedding it slightly.7. Add a square of chocolate, and some mini marshmallows.8. Take the pieces of cut out pie dough that had been set aside, and place them on top of the chocolate and marshmallows. Pinch the dough with yourfingers to stretch it out if it's not large enough to cover the chocolate and marshmallows.

9. Gently press down the edges of each shape, then use a fork to completely seal the edges.10. Bake at 350F for 20 to 25 minutes until golden brown.

Chapel Lesson….PUTTING DOWN ROOTS

Grace to you, and Peace in Christ Jesus. In Chapel Time we have been talking about Seeds and Growing. Jesus used several “down to earth” parables about Faith and the Kingdom of Heaven to describe how things “work”. For example: Jesus said the Kingdom of Heaven begins, like a mustard seed – VERY SMALL! He taught us how the Gospel (Good News) from God works in us: The Word of God plants a seed in our hearts, and it grows into a strong faith over time. In another, Jesus describes how the growth of faith can be like the growth of plants that seems to happen without our noticing – night and day it is going on – and it is a mystery as to how it actually happens! There are others, too!Some of the seeds we have sown for the summer vegetable garden have already opened up and put down roots, we have been able to see the roots through the clear walls of plastic cups…how long they get (!) searching for water and nutrients! Under the ground, there is often a root system that may be twice as long as the plant we see above, weeding teaches this, doesn’t it! So too, your child’s faith has been “sown” like small seeds, by hearing about God and the Love that God has for the whole world in Jesus. Just like seeds in our garden, those seeds of faith await an awakening (in our Lutheran tradition, the waters of Baptism activate these seeds of faith!) Brothers and sisters in the faith (that includes PARENTS) help to grow a child’s faith by soaking them in love and forgiveness, by teaching them love for God and habits of faith only Parents can teach – in your home! Those seeds of faith “germinate” in their own time – just like the seeds in our garden! And when they germinate, the ROOTS of that seed of faith will naturally seek nourishment and more water! I hope that your family has a place for that nourishment – your Family of Faith – your CHURCH! That nourishment is something we at Trinity Child Care are hoping to provide too, through reading Bible stories, singing songs, spontaneous conversations and helping your child overcome challenges. Deeply ROOTED IN CHRIST is the BEST foundation for faith and an abundant life. Your child is like a sponge – he or she is absorbing everything around them! Let what they absorb teach them to trust God, to go to God in prayer (to thank, seek help and to praise) and seek out more food for faith! Do you have a children’s Bible at home? Read Bible stories often! Your church ought to be able to help you, with Sunday School, Vacation Bible School and worship opportunities. (If you don’t have these resources – you are welcome to look at the resources we have at Trinity!)
