The lodge was opened in due and ancient form on the Master Mason Degree by Worshipful Brother George A. Olsen at 10:00 am followed by the Pledge of Allegiance to the Flag of our Country. He welcomed everyone and introduced the following brothers: RW Robert L. Miller, DGM, RW Daniel M. Wilson, SGW, RW Donald L. Pelington, GH, RW Douglas R. Policastro, GO, Right Worshipfuls, followed by all in attendance introducing themselves. Minutes: The minutes of the regular meeting held on May 11, 2002 were read and approved. Bills: Bills were read discussed and approved for payment.

Treasurer’s Report: A balance $1,890.90 was reported in the checking account. The treasurer advised of some problems with over billing for the checks and a stated that it was being corrected.

Old Business: The Worshipful Master advised that the bylaws and constitution called for the appointment of numerous committees. He listed the committees and asked for volunteers to give their names to the secretary; a list of committees and those who volunteered is attached to these minutes. / There was a discussion on previously recommended Lapel pins and several options were discussed. It was decided to order 100 7/8 inch pins at a cost of $2.00 per pin. They will be square in shape and consist of the Square, Compasses and The Lamp of Learning. All members were to receive one with their application fee and those wishing to purchase additional pins would be charged $5.00. A motion was made seconded and passed to purchase the pins.

Brother Miller spoke on the intent of the Grand Lodge to turn the responsibility and care of the library over to The NJ Lodge of Masonic Research & Education and that it was imperative that we appoint our committee as soon as possible, as they had already started the move from the old library to our location in Trenton. The Worshipful Master circulated several pocket badges for the member’s consideration. After some discussion it was decided that no titles would be associated with the members names and the badges

would be gold in color. The Approximate cost to be around $8.00. The Worshipful Master ordered the purchase of the badges.

New Business: Brother Korang, SD advised that he had established a website for the NJ Lodge of Masonic Research & Education. He circulated copies of the sight for review. There were some discussions and several brothers volunteered to assist on a committee. A motion was made seconded and passed to go ahead with the project striving for the best possible sight possible. Bro. Korang requested the secretary e-male all information possible to complete the sight. Including applications forms, by-laws, criteria forms and officers information.

The Secretary requested clarification on the $25.00 yearly dues collected this year. They are to be applied to the year 2003 as per the executive committee.

A question was approached with regard to putting our publications on CD-ROM,. After a short discussion the members were of the opinion that we should. A motion was made seconded and passed to pursue the project. At this point new business was suspended.

Education Committee: Brother Caputo, Chairman of the Education Committee spoke on The Instructors Program. He gave statistics as to number of instructors needed and number of volunteers so far. The Mentors Program, History, Leadership and Management, and time commitment need by instructors.

Presentation: “REDEMPTION AT GETTYSBURG” - A Study in Masonic Duty By Bro. Howard Z. Kanowitz, Mizpah Hadden Heights Lodge # 191 (21 min)

Refreshment: The worshipful master placed the lodge on refreshment for lunch at 11:43 AM. Called on again at 12:36 PM.

Presentation: “CATECHISM AS RITUAL” - An examination of the ritual of the Candidate Proficiency Question and Answer Catechisms. By Bro. Bernard W. Hoff, JW Highland Park Lodge # 240 (38 min)

Enlightenment: The Worshipful Master addressed the brethren on the subject of how to write a research project, Methods of research, and getting started.

New Business Cont.: Bro. Thornton, SW addressed the brethren with a request for information as follows. History of lodges, Noted Masons from lodges, List of books presently in lodge libraries, Old Masonic locations, List of Organists and Etc. This information to be made available to members of the craft.

Discussion on the exchange of writings and ideas with other research lodges resulted in a motion made, seconded and carried to exchange.

Discussion on submitting presentations and writings to the N.J Freemason for publication. The Worshipful Master stated he saw no problem with the idea; this generated a discussion on publishing them on the web site as well. After some discussion a motion was made by the SW and seconded by the

JW to allow the writings to be forwarded to both, providing that the writings have been read in the NJLORE first and that the publications state that the writings had been presented at our lodge.

Questions were raised as to copyright laws and after a short discussion everyone was comfortable that there should be no problems however the matter would be explored further.

A suggestion was made that the NJLORE explore the idea of maintaining a list of speakers and programs to be made available to the lodges in the state. This generated some concern for the authors of the articles and time constraints. It was suggested that other members of the lodge could present the writings with permission of the author as an ambassador from the NJLRE.

Brother Hoff made a motion that presentation also be made available on line. The motion was seconded and after some discussion passed.

Closing: Following general comments and congratulations to the presenters. The Worshipful Master relinquished the gavel to RW Bro. Robert S. Sheridan, JGW who closed this meeting of the New Jersey Lodge of Masonic Research & Education in short form by dispensation at 2:15 PM

WM placed Lodge on Refreshment at 10:05 a.m. WM resumed labor at 10:15 a.m. WM welcomed and thanked everyone for attending the day’s meeting.

An alarm came from the outer door at 10:19 a.m.

The RW Grand Marshall was admitted and announced that the Grand Master was prepared to enter.

At 10:20 a.m. Grand Master Larry S. Plaskett entered the lodge room. RW Deputy Grand Master Robert Miller, RW Senior Grand Warden Daniel M. Wilson, RW Junior Grand Warden Robert Sheridan, and MW David A. Chase, PGM accompanied him. Also accompanying the GM was the GM of Prince Hall Masons for the State of New Jersey, MW John M. Bettis. His Grand Marshal, RW Walter D. Staten, Jr, accompanied him.

The WM received MW Larry S. Plaskett in the East and presented him to the brethren. The Grand Honors was give to the GM taking time from the Grand Marshall.

The WM then received MW John M. Bettis in the East and presented him to the Brethren. The Grand Honors was accorded to MW Bettis taking time from his Grand Marshall. After a blundered attempt, the Grand Marshall exemplified the Prince Hall Grand Honors and the Brethren accorded the proper Grand Honors to MW Bettis.

MW GM Plaskett gave some opening comments of welcome to MWB Bettis. Both GMs exchanged gifts in honor of the event.

At 10:33 a.m., MWB Plaskett retired from the Lodge room to attend to a previously schedule commitment.

At 10:35 a.m., the WM introduced MW John M. Bettis. MWB Bettis gave a presentation on the history of Prince Hall Masonry in North America and New Jersey. He also spoke on the Appendant Bodies and Youth organizations. He then answered questions from the brethren. (2 hrs)At 12:35 p.m., the WM presented MWB Bettis with the first official pin of the NJ LORE. He also presented the GM with a check as a gift from the Lodge to be put toward a charity of MWB Bettis’

choice. MWB Bettis informed the WM that the check would be going to the Knights of Pythagoras, which is a PH youth group for young men.

At 12:40 p.m., the WM placed the lodge on Refreshment for the purpose of retiring to the Main Hall for Lunch.

WM called the Craft to labor again at 1:40 p.m.

WM introduced Bro. Bernard Hoff who presented his paper titled, “The Symbolic Lodge”. Bro. Hoff spoke for 23 minutes and then answered questions.

Regular Business

The WM ordered a reading of the minutes. At the request of a brother the minutes were appended to remove all Masonic titles of NJ LORE lodge members from the minutes. The WM approved the minutes as appended.

At 2:25 p.m. the WM ordered a moment of silence in memory of the late RWB Steven B. Speirs, NJ LORE’s first secretary.

The communications were read at 2:26 p.m. None required action.

Treasurer gave his report. $2453.01 in the checking account.

Old Business: WM reported that the brother in charge of creating Lapel Pins and Badges was not present at the meeting. WM would contact him and inquire about their status. He also ordered a list be created for any brothers present who wish to have a badge.

New Business: WM requested that the Secretary introduce any new members in attendance. Bro. Richard E. Schultz was introduced and accorded a round of applause. The Secretary also mentioned that Bro. Neal A. McCarthy also joined, but that he had left the meeting earlier. WM informed the brethren that Bro. McCarthy had to attend a Kilties event.

A question was raised concerning affiliation with Prince Hall Masons especially as it concerns the NJ LORE. The WM informed the Lodge that he was looking into this with the GM.

A motion was made and seconded that the Treasurer and Secretary be allowed to handle any bills and money affairs that need attending between meetings of NJ LORE. The motion passed.

A motion was made and seconded to set aside a page in the minutes in memory of RWB Steven Speirs. The motion passed. A suggestion was made to include a mention of his passing in memoriam on the Lodge’s website. The Secretary offered to take care of that detail.

Closing: At 2:35 p.m. The Worshipful Master relinquished the gavel to MWB David A. Chase, PGM who closed the meeting in short form by dispensation at 2:35 p.m.

Old Business

WM reported that Name Badges and Pins had been received. Also that Dues cards are in the possession of the Secretary. If anyone wishes to have a name badge made up, they should see the Secretary.

WM discussed having a table at the GL Communication the end of April. Brother Castley will reserve a table for NJ LORE next to his two tables. WM asked for volunteers to assist with the table.

WM discussed committees. He made several assignments and request to fill the positions. Committees are attached to the minutes.

WM discussed Prince Hall Affiliation with the NJ LORE. WM reported that he discussed the issue with MW Larry Plaskett, GM, and was told, “Let’s move along slowly” indicating that the Lodge should not push the issue and allow the recognition process move along at its own pace.

New Business

The WM changed the date of the September Regular Communication from the fourth Saturday to the third Saturday in observance of Rosh Hashanah. Secretary will attempt to secure the Building for the changed date and inform the brethren via the Trestleboard.

WM discussed the new NJ LORE Brochure. Secretary gave details of printing services and costs to the Lodge. Motion was made and seconded to purchase 1000 brochures.

WM discussed the procedure for presentation of Papers to the Lodge. Instead of printing out copies of the actual paper to be presented, the author should prepare a 500-700-word abstract of the paper for distribution. Secretary added that the abstract could be used in the Trestleboard. The WM asked for

volunteers to serve on a committee to review the use of an abstract and step necessary such as changing of by-laws and criteria. Brother Thorton and Bro. Hoff volunteered.

WM discussed the Honors Paper. The Secretary read article 4.6 of the By-Laws which states that an honors paper needs to be selected by the membership at the March Meeting. This paper would receive an award. A motion was made by Bro. Korang and seconded by Bro. Hashagen to change the by-law to read that the selection would be made in May instead of March. After much discussion, the motion was withdrawn and the WM decided to review the entire issue in the near future.

The WM then asked for discussion on the Annual Transactions report. The Secretary reviewed his findings on the costs of having an outside source provide recorded labeled CD-ROMs for the Lodge. The cost would be approximately $300 for 100 CD-ROMS. Bro. Mark offered to do the duplication of the CDs himself. Bro. Poeter recommended that a suitable paper copy still be produce for those brothers that do not own or have access to a computer. WM charged the Transactions Committee to look into the subject further.

Treasurer’s Report

The Treasurer reported that there was $2091.01 in the checking account.

Presentations

The WM asked the Senior Warden to introduce today’s presenters.

Brother SW presented Bro. Hoff who presented his paper “Lodge Opening Ceremonies – History and Comparison”. After his presentation, Brother Hoff answered questions (Total 40 minutes).

WM placed the lodge on refreshment at 11:20 a.m.

WM called the lodge to labor again at 11:27 a.m.

Brother SW introduced Bro . Howard Kanowitz who presented his paper “1Enlightenment, Light and Locke”. After his presentation, Bro. Kanowitz answered questions (Total 38 minutes).

WM requested the Senior Warden to speak on future projects. SW spoke about various projects to be forth coming including an update of the “History of New Jersey Freemasonry” bluebook.

Wm request any communications to be read by the Secretary.

WM requested RWB James Taylor, GC to close the lodge. Bro. Taylor closed the Lodge in short form by dispensation at 12:15 a.m.

The brethren retired to the dining hall for refreshment.

Old Business

WM requested the Secretary to speak on the Brochure. Secretary reported that the brochure was received too late for distribution at GL. Secretary requested the brethren to take copies of the Brochure for there home lodges.

New Business

Brother Thorton reported on the NJ LORE booth at Grand Lodge in Atlantic City.

WM reported that the NJ LORE Charter was received at the GL Communication but that it was mislabeled “The Grand Lodge of Research”. WM made the GL aware of the problem and we are awaiting a new Charter.

WM discussed the rising cost of refreshments at the NJ LORE meetings. He will place a donation basket at the table for refreshments prior to the meeting and prior to lunch. He hope this will offset the increasing burden to the Lodge funds.

The Honors Paper was again discussed. It was decided to change the By-Laws to allow the Lodge to select an Honors Paper at the Annual Communication in May instead of March. The WM charged the By-Laws committee to begin the process of changing the By-Laws. It was decided to vote for an honors paper at this meeting using the five papers already presented as a selection for the award.

Presentations

The WM asked the Senior Warden to introduce today’s presentations.

Bro. SW spoke about the Bluebook – History of NJ Freemasonry. He requested copies of the NJ Freemason from 1980 on.

Brother SW introduced Bro. Jay Hochberg who presented a paper written by RWB Lew Birt, PGH titled “NJ Lodge Under Dispensation In California”. Bro. Hochberg answered any questions he could. Bro. Hochberg ensured the Lodge that the paper would be added to the NJ LORE archives. (30 minutes)

Brother SW presented a paper concerning the history of Pleyel’s Hymm. He answered any questions he could. Bro. SW told the lodge that he would try to obtain permission to add this document to the NJ LORE website for information purposes. (25 minutes)

Other Business

Bro. Castley spoke on Women in Freemasonry. He said he has a paper he may present to the Lodge at a later date.

WM spoke to the lodge on a current DDGM question concerning the fact that there is no “official” Past DDGM jewel for NJ. He suggested that this would be a good subject for a future paper and possible recommendation of NJ LORE to the Grand Lodge.

WM placed the lodge on refreshment at 12:00 p.m.

WM called the lodge to labor again at 12:45 p.m.

The WM requested comments concerning the vote for the selection of the honors paper at this meeting. After a short discussion, a motion was made by Bro. Thorton and seconded by Bro. Carroll to suspend the vote until the September meeting due to an insufficient number of brethren present. WM requested the Secretary to make sure the brethren had due notice of the September vote in the next Trestleboard.

WM and SW discussed the status of the GL Library. WM reported that the library was in the hands of the GL Library Committee and that we would only offer our assistance if they required.

WM requested announcements.

The Treasurer reported that there is $1482.38 in the checking account. Treasurer also reported that a $100 check written to the Most Worshipful Prince Hall Grand Lodge of NJ had not been cashed yet. WM charged the Secretary to investigate the situation.

Sickness and Distress

WM reported that Bro Hashagen had his pacemaker removed.

Bro. Dick Cadmus is in the hospital with blood clots in his legs.

Old Business

WM discussed the name badge situation. Anyone wishing a NJ LORE name badge should see the secretary.

WM presented the new Warrant to the Lodge. He reported that he would be carrying the Warrant with him as there was no suitable place to keep it at the Trenton Masonic Hall. He also said he would look into a carrying case.

Bro. Thorton presented a question to the Lodge concerning balloting.

Bro. Thorton discussed a presentation he and Bro. Hoff were working on dealing with Masonic Slides. Bro. Thorton, Bro. Hoff, and Bro. Korang would be working together on a possible publication by NJ LORE.

WM discussed the Proceedings and the possibility of having them published through Staples.

WM requested the SW introduce this meetings Presentations.

Bro. Hochberg presented a paper written by RW Bro. Harold Van Buren Voorhis titled “Freemasonry Among Colored Men in the U.S.A.". Bro. Hochberg answered any questions he could. (58 minutes)

Bro. Ross introduced himself as the newly appointed DDGM of the 15th Masonic District. The WM welcomed him.

WM placed the Lodge on refreshment at 12:00 p.m.

WM called the Lodge to labor at 12:45 p.m.

Bro. Thorton present a Masonic Talk “Simplifying the Overwhelming” concerning Masonic books and his recommendations for Masonic libraries. (61 minutes)

Other Business

WM discussed submitted By-Law change by Bro. Nathan Mark concerning the moving of meeting dates that fall on holiday weekends. The Secretary commented that there are several By-Laws that should be looked into such as the Annual Paper Award and the Proceedings. WM decided to refer the change to the By-Laws committee.

Bro. Thorton announced that with his fifth paper submitted, Bro. Hoff has become NJ LORE’s first Laureate member.

Bro. Berberian announce that his lodge, Harmony No. 8, was selling Memorial Bricks. DDGM Ross made a motion that NJ LORE purchase one of the bricks. Bro. Thornton seconded the motion. Motion passed.

Bro. Hochberg mentioned that Harmony Lodge No. 8 was not the only Harmony Lodge in NJ. Spirited discussion ensued.

WM mentioned a possible LORE trip to Garibaldi Lodge for an EA° on November 3rd. See WM for more details.

Brother Secretary made a recommendation that the Lodge buy a laptop computer for its use. He said he was will to do the research and make the purchase if reimbursed. Brother March made a motion that the Lodge allow a purchase of up to $1000 for the purchase of a laptop for the Secretary’s use. Seconded by Bro. Thorton – Passed.

Brother Secretary spoke on the Transactions of NJ LORE. The rough draft was finished and e-mail to Bro., Ohlandt but nothing was heard back. Wm said he would look into Bro. Ohlandt status.

Brother Secretary mentioned possibly having a future meeting at Grow Hall. He would look into securing the Hall for a future meeting.

WM presented RW Carl Doan, President of the Historic Trenton Temple Board of Trustees, spoke in detail on the status of renovations underway at the Trenton Temple, and the plans of Grand Lodge for future use. The ground floor has been modernized to accommodate dining and entertaining, as a means to attract caterers and other rental clients. Plans for a library and museum are in the conceptual stages, with nothing in the works at this time. Exterior improvements have been made. Work will continue upstairs as funds are raised.

WM presented Junior Warden Ray Thorne delivered Part Two of “Morgan Disappear’d” and promised Part Three would complete the paper at our September Communication, alluding to a historical date the brethren would find timely.

RW Howard Kanowitz presented “Isaiah’s Linguistic Conundrum,” an explanation of a quirk in the Hebrew pronunciation of a word in the Book of Isaiah, and its possible significance to the EA Degree.

Bro. Thomas Winter presented “The Masonic Conservators,” a history of the 19th century movement in American Masonry led by the famous author Rob Morris, to standardize Craft ritual and governance in the United States.

Senior Warden Ben Hoff spoke on “The What, Why and But of Ritual in New Jersey,” which takes on the curious use of the word “but” in the Worshipful Master’s oration before the obligation of a candidate.

At 12:40 p.m., the Lodge was again placed on Refreshment until its next Communication on Saturday, Sept. 13.

Treasurer reported on purchase of projection equipment and future purchases to support the equipment. A demonstration was to be given later in the meeting.

WM discussed LORE members speaking at other lodges as part of their evening’s program.

Brother Korsniak spoke on the possibility of LORE traveling to other venues around the state. WM recommended carrying that conversation on the LODGE1786 Yahoo group.

Bro. Avanti asked about possibly setting up a display at the GL Annual Meeting in Atlantic City.

WM presented Bro. Joe Stanick who presented his paper - “The Author of the Regius Manuscript”. Bro. Stanick answered questions and comments.

Bro. Avanti suggested the LORE could also visit Trinity Lodge in South Jersey some time in the future.

WM requested Treasurer’s report from the Secretray. Bro. Secretary reported that there was approximately $8900 in our operating account at the end of April and that there should be deposits of approximately $600 made after that statement. Motion made to accept treasurer’s report as it was presented.

Bro. Secretary read two receipt for the refreshments and one for rent of the HTMT. Motion made to pay by (Huey/Avanti) to pay the bills.

Old Business

Bro. Morris asked for an update on the possible move to Hightstown Apollo Lodge. Meeting would try to be set at Hightstown Apollo Lodge for our September meeting.

Bro. Alexander offered to attend and represent LORE at the next HTMT meeting in a few weeks.

New Business

Bro. Secretary reported that the Lodge laptop died in March. He made a motion that the Lodge permit the Secretary to purchase a new Laptop not to exceed $800. (Korang/Alexander) Motion moved.

Motion made by Bro. Morris seconded by Brother Stutz that the Lodge purchase an ad in the GL 225th Anniversary celebration booklet not to exceed $75. Motion Approved.

WM asked the treasurer for his report. Bro. Treasurer reported that the balance of the operating account is $9876. Bro. Treasurer reported that there was an outstanding balance for the computer purchase approved in June. The balance exceed the $800 limit set by the lodge by $42. Motion made by Bros. Avanti/Morris to reimburse for computer purchase. Approved. Bros. Avanti/Hoff made a motion for reimbursement of refreshments for June meeting. Approved. Motion made by Bros.Avanti/Morris to pay the bills. Approved.

WM asked for business needed to be brought before the Lodge.

Bro. Korsniak reported on the Masonic Contest he contributed to the NJ Freemason Magazine. He reported that Bro. Howard had the correct answer. He awarded Bro. Howard with a nice cache of Books as an award.

Bro. Alexander reported that the Masonic Library/Museum is now setup in the Corinthian Room. He invited all to take a look after the meeting.

Bro. Secretary reported that the Transactions were available on his desk for members of the Lodge. Also copies were available for purchase online at Lulu.com. He also informed the lodge that he would be reformatting the two previous volumes to match Volume 3 and 4. They would be available for purchase on the website.

Bro. Korsniak reported on the progress moving LORE meetings to Hightstown-Apollo Lodge in Hightstown, NJ.

Bro. Korsniak reported on a member of NJ LORE speaking in Pennsylvania.

Bro. James Ross reported that NJ LORE member Robert Stutz was in the hospital. He is presently in the Emergency Room and may be admitted.

New Business

Bro. Korsniak reported that he is arranging to remote broadcast of lectures of our members and members of other Masonic organizations around the world. Discussion ensued. WM formed a committee to look into and develop this idea.

Bro. Korsniak spoke to the brethren on the Masonic Conference to be held in May in Scotland. He also spoke about the Masonic Correspondence Circle of the Quatuor Coronati Lodge.

Bro. Hochberg spoke on The Quarry Project, a conference to be held Washington in September. Bro. Hochberg made a motion to donate $100 to the Quarry Project to help defray the cost of the project. Motion seconded by Bro. Bogardus = Passed.

WM requested Bro. Hochberg speak on the Facebook page he created.

WM introduced Bro. Kanowitz who presented 12th paper for Lodge “An Enlighting view of Freemasonry” (28 Minutes)

WM presented Bro. Kanowitz with a Distinguished Laureate Certificate and Badge. Bro. Kanowitz showed his appreciation to a hearty round of applause.

WM introduced Bro. Hoff who spoke on his recent visit to Mariner’s Lodge in New York City.

WM presented Bro. Hoff with a Distinguished Laureate Emeritus Certificate and Badge. Bro. Hoff showed his appreciation to a hearty round of applause.

WM asked the secretary to explain the criteria of the two awards.

WM introduced Bro. Bogardus who presented 1st paper for Lodge “Masonic Restoration - Putting the Craftsmanship Back Into The Craft”. (30 Minutes) The lecture was well received with many brothers adding their own stories relating to the subject.

Treasurer reported that there would be some upcoming expenditure to keep our A/V system current. Motion made to approve expenditure for this purpose (Tucker, Alexander) – Passed.

Treasurer reported that he could be transferred for work reasons to other areas in the next year or two. He is hoping that someone would step up if such an occasion occurs.

New Business

WM requested the lodge rise for a moment of silence in remembrance for Memorial Day Past, Flag Day, and those serving our country and its citizens.

Bro. Korang mentioned that communication with the WM of Hightstown-Apollo Lodge was established to secure an area in the lodge building to secure LORE equipment and furnishings. Motion made to spend up to $500 to secure a space or cabinet in the Lodge building. (Korang – Tucker) Passed

WM discussed changing the date of the September meeting due to GL conflict. October 11th was put forth as date for the next meeting.

WM offered the idea of opening one meeting to non-masons (wives, friends). Discussion was had with several alternate ideas for increasing membership and awareness.

Bro. Thorton made a motion seconded by Bro. Howard to purchase NJ LORE business cards to hand out other brothers. Motion passed.

WM presented Bro. Stutz who informed the brethren that he recently received his 60 Year Pin. Bro. Stutz received a hearty round of applause.

OLD BUSINESS

Bro. Korsniak reported that the Lodge has secured a closet at our host lodge. LORE has replaced the locking mechanism. A placard will be secured soon to identify the closet as LORE’s.

NEW BUSINESS

Bro Kanowitz mentioned a fundraiser for the Scottish Rite Dyslexia Centers if anyone has interest. Bro. Huey added to the discussion providing more insight.

Bro. Secretary recommended a discussion on the location of the December meeting. WM mentioned that the Annual Meeting and Installation of Officers will be held at the Trenton Masonic Temple.

Bro. Korsniak reported that Brother Howard would be installed as WM of Hawthorne Fortitude Lodge immediately following our Annual Meeting if anyone would be interested travelling to Ramsey NJ after our annual meeting.

Bro. Korsniak also mentioned the Academy of Masonic Knowledge to be held in Pennsylvania.

Bro. Stein provided information on the Masonic Book Club hosted by Hawthorne Fortitude Lodge.

Bro. Howard mentioned that he recently traveled to Paris and visited the site of the execution of Jacques DeMolay. He provided some interesting tidbits about the site.

Bro. Kanowitz recommended a book he to the brethren if they were interested in medieval history. He also recommended work of fiction he found had interesting Masonic ties.

WM Closed nominations for officers .

WM said a few words and thanked several of his officers and friends who assisted him through his term.

WM accept nominations for Officers for 2015-2016.

WM asked Bro. Matthew Macready, Bro. Pete Saunders, and Bro. Joe Schwartz to serve as Judge and tellers for the election of NJ LORE Officer for 2015 – 2016.

Bro. Dan Wilson recommended that the MWGM, being in attendance, cast the unanimous ballot for all nominated officers.

MWGM accepted the honor and cast the unanimous ballot. The Judge and Tellers received the unanimous ballot and declared the following nominated members elected to office for the ensuing two Masonic years:

Bro. Hoff instructed the Lodge on the meaning of being off labor.

WM Requested bills to be paid. Bro. Secretary reported one bill for refreshment Motion made to pay the bills (Huey - Carducci) Passed.

WM requested a Treasurer’s Report. Bro. Treasurer report $10337.67 in our Lodge account.

Bro. Treasurer read the result of the recent audit of the lodge books by Bro. Alexander.

WM requested that the Lodge rise without the sound of the gavel and a moment of silence held in honor of MWPGM William Morris who passed suddenly this past month.

Bro. Treasurer reported on the status of the corner closet. He also presented to the Lodge a NJ LORE coffee mug created by Bro. Bogardus. Bro. Bogardus informed the lodge about this and other items the lodge could create for it purpose.

WM introduced Bro. Howard Kanowitz who presented his paper on Mozart’s Magic Flute. Questions and discussion followed.

WM introduced Bro. Martin Bogardus who spoke on the new NJ LORE website. Questions and discussion followed.

WM followed up the presentation with discussion concerning his vision for NJ LORE moving forward.

Motion made to allowed expenses up to $300 to get the website off the ground (Huey-Lanorith) - Passed.

WM presented his research paper on the Four Cardinal Virtues. Questions and discussion followed.

WM made recommendations on how to bring education to the Blue Lodge level. Hearty discussion continued the discussion with many members offering their opinions.

WM Requested bills to be paid. Bro. Secretary reported one bill for refreshment motion made to pay the bills (Carducci - Bogardus) Passed.

WM requested new members to stand.

Bro. Secretary reported on NJ LORE’s first overseas member from Australia.

WM requested Bro. Bogardus to update the lodge on the new website.

Bro. Bogardus recommended the lodge approve another $300 for the website in case he exceeds the initial $300. Motion to authorize the $300 (Paladino – Carducci) passed.

WM Dave Tucker handed out New Jersey Lodge of Masonic Research and Education coffee mugs to each of the presenters following their presentations.
