FLOOD PLAN

TRIGGER – LOCAL FLOOD ALERT FROM ENVIRONMENT AGENCY, OR

LOCAL KNOWLEDGE

Lyneham and Bradenstoke are low risk for flooding as they are positioned on the top of a hill.

Precautions are to be taken each year to ensure all the drains and gullies are kept unblocked and clear to prevent localised flooding.

Action: Contact Wiltshire Council Highways Team to clear gullies and drains if blocked.Put up Flood Warning signs should a road become flooded due to blocked drains or gullies.

Flood warning signs are held in both the villages of Lyneham and Brandenstoke.2 for Lyneham are held at Pound Farm 2 for Bradenstoke are held at Lillybrook

Introduction

The Lyneham and Bradenstoke Parish Snow Response Plan is designed to provide a co-ordinated response during and after periods of intense snow fall; the plan is aimed at keeping access routes into and within the Parish open along with providing any additional support to elderly and vulnerable people during this period. The Lyneham and Bradenstoke Parish Snow Response Plan has been put together in conjunction with

Wiltshire Council (WC) and details the snow clearance activity that will be carried out by WC and the snow clearance activity to be carried out by the Parish.

Summary

• WC will clear the A3102 and B4069 as a priority.• When required a local farmer will clear Parish secondary routes.• Village is to clear residential roads and paths on a self help basis. WC provides

salt in grit bins and stock pile at a local farm in Lyneham and Lillybrook Park in Bradenstoke to do this.

• Local farmer and volunteer Parish Councillor will refill any of the yellow salt bins shown on the attached map as and when required.

WC Snow Response Plan: Primary Response: The priority activity for WC is to keep the main arterial routes around the Parish open. WC will salt and plough the A3102 and B4069 as a priority.

Secondary Response: In the event of a heavy snow fall road clearance and ploughing activity will be supported by a volunteer local farmer/parish councillor that has been authorised by the WC Emergency Weather Team (farmers can use red diesel in vehicles when carrying out ploughing or gritting tasks).

Village Self Help

The village holds supplies of one tonne salt reserves at Pound Farm in Lyneham and Lillybrook Park in Bradenstoke; this salt is supplied by WC. This salt is to be used to refill the 10 grit bins located around the Parish and to salt other areas identified as high-risk areas below:

PANDEMIC FLU PLAN

PANDEMIC FLU – is the UK’s highest risk. In a severe outbreak, up to 750,000 people could die of flu in the UK.

TRIGGER – PANDEMIC DECLARED BY WORLD HEALTH ORGANISATION

• Form emergency committee – include health care professionals if possible. Make this committee larger than others, since during a full pandemic up to half the committee could catch the flu. Volunteers:

Annex E to Lyneham and Bradenstoke Emergency Plan

ANIMAL HEALTH PLAN

TRIGGER – NOTIFICATION OF INFECTED PREMISES

The risks of disease being spread by those seeking recreational access to the countryside are very small, and can be reduced further by avoiding direct contact with animals.

In the event of a disease outbreak, there will be a presumption in favour of access to the countryside, subject to veterinary risk assessment.

However, restriction in the movement of animals, people and vehicles on and around infected site/premises may be put in place.

There may be disinfectants that need to be applied when entering / leaving affected premises.

1) Animal Disease

These diseases have a serious economic impact for the farmer and will cause fluctuations in price of the meat, and animal products. There may be restrictions put on movement around the infected premises in zones.

i) Diseases that affect only the animal. Such as Foot and Mouth, Blue Tongue and Classical Swine Fever, etc. Access to and from infected flocks/herds will be restricted.

ii) Zoonotic DiseasesDiseases that can pass from animals to humansSuch as Avian Influenza, E.Coli, Salmonella, etc. Access to the area and to animals will be restricted for infection control.

2) Parish Council Actions:
