Year 2 Spelling Activities Use your weekly spelling words to complete the activities below.Please ask an adult if you are unsure how to complete an activity.Choose 2 activities per week.

Connect the Dots: Write your words out in dots, and then connect the dots by tracing over the words in a coloured pencil.

Match Up: Write each of your words on 2 pieces of paper or card. Cut them out and use them for a game of memory.

Bubble Letters: Write (or type and print) each of your words out in bubble letters. Colour your words in with pencils.

Cheer Your words: Pretend you are a cheerleader and call out your words. Make up moves to go along with them!

Back Writing: Use your finger to spell your words on a friends/ parents back so they can guess the word. Swap and play again.

Sentences: Choose 3 of your words and put them into one sentence each. Underline your spelling words.

Tongue Twister: Write a tongue twister for 3 of your words. Underline your spelling. Example: Sally sold seashells by the seashore. Dave dug deeply into the dunes.

Rainbow Write: Write each of your words using a pencil. Trace over your words with a coloured pencil. Trace them neatly with 2 other colours and you will see the rainbow.

Type ‘Em: Type your spelling words on the computer. Make each word have a different font or colour. Save on your computer or print out.

Spelling Poem: Write a poem using at least 5 of your words. Underline your spelling words. You can write any kind of poem you like!

Syllables: Write out your words but put dashes in between the letters that break up the syllables.Example: to-day, el-e-phant

Word Shapes: Write the shape of 8 of your words. Write the word first then it’s shape.Eg. Read -

Dirty Words: Go outside and write your words in the sand, mud or dirt.

ABC Order: Write all your words in alphabetical order.
