Chase ATM Machine

1. Easily Accessible - PASS

Chase ATM Machine is very easily accessible. In order to fire the machine up,

you simply put the card in the slot, and fill in your pin #, which everyone

should remember. Also there are many locations of the ATM’s which makes

it a lot easier to deposit or withdraw money.

2. Easy on the Eyes – PASS

The layout is very simplistic and straightforward. It is very clear on what

each selection is meant for, and anyone could probably get right into ATM

banking.

3. Learnable – PASS

Simple touch-screen and keypad design makes it very easy to learn how to

get around the ATM machine to withdraw or deposit money.

4. Affordance – PASS

Affordances of the ATM machine are card slot, touch-screen, keypad, and

cash/check slot for inserting cash or check. Users can decide what kind of

actions they want to take on the ATM machines. These affordances are very

simple and straightforward.

5. Micro – Interactions - PASS

The options displayed on the touch-screen are very straightforward and

easily accessible. When done with your transaction, the machine asks if you

want to take further actions and if you want to receive a receipt. With the

“Fast-Cash” option, the transaction could take up to as little as 20 seconds.

6. The Good Design Test – FAIL

I feel that with Near Field Communication (NFC) being advanced and utilized

by all credit cards, the ATM machines could perhaps integrate NFC in order

to make transactions much more efficient and quick by getting rid of the

tedious step of taking out the credit card and swiping, and swiping again if

the card-slot couldn’t read the card.

7. Keep Tools Close to Hand – PASS

With easily accessible touch-screen and keypad, all the actions needed to

take in order to make a transaction could be made very easily by the users.

8. Leave the Users Satisfied – FAIL (PERSONAL)

Perhaps it’s just me, but whenever I leave my ATM, I am not satisfied. In fact,

I am left feeling empty and sad. Today I found out that I only had $1.00 on

my account. SAD!!
