Dinner, Cocktails and Presentation of the Dwight “Butch” Singo Award will be on the Oceanview Terrace again this year. The Oceanview Terrace overlooks the beach, offering spectacular views of the Atlantic Ocean. This seaside setting offers the perfect setting for our Welcome Reception. Enjoy delicious food, cold drinks and a great time!
The Dwight “Butch” Singo Award will also be presented at the Reception. Butch was a golf course superintendent, a salesman, a family man, a spiritual man and a man who passed away well before his time. He started his sales career working for Par Ex but most remember him as one of Harrell’s top salesmen. Butch served on the Board of the North Florida Chapter for many years, setting up meeting sites, education, and lending a voice of experience and knowledge. As a salesman he was as professional as they come. Butch was welcomed by all superintendents and admired by his peers. We all loved Butch and miss him very much. For these reasons we choose to name this prestigious award after Butch Singo and will present it annually to one of our sales people, past or present, who exemplify the qualities that Butch stood for in serving the golf course superintendents of the North Florida Chapter.

The Edward L. “Crash” Hall Championship Cup
The Crash Cup Challenge is open to all Superintendents playing in the event. Cash will be awarded to the low gross winner and the Crash Hall Championship Cup will be awarded to the low gross Superintendent Member of the NFGCSA. The winner, if eligible, also qualifies for the 5th major spot on the FGCSA State Chapter Team that will compete at the GCSAA National Championship in 2018.

Edward L. “Crash” Hall
In memory of Edward L. “Crash” Hall, we present this award in his honor. Crash was instrumental in forming the NFGCSA and was the Association’s first President in 1974. He had various golf course jobs after retiring from the Navy and was asked to construct a 9-hole golf course along the St John’s River at Jacksonville University. He and his wife, Mary, loved golf and Crash played up until he was 90. He was shooting his age for 15 years.

This year the golf format will be a 4-Man Best Ball Team Event. Those playing to qualify for the State Championship Team are to sign up as part of a team. If you don't have a team, you will be placed accordingly. All participants are to play their own ball through the hole, taking a max score of double bogie with the exception of those playing to qualify, who will need to play their ball until they hole out. This format keeps us all together with our friends but still allows for qualifying and ease of scoring at the end. There is no need to make note of qualifying or not during registration. That will be taken care of during the scoring portion of the event by Event Staff. All that will need to be done by qualifiers is to make a note on their score card so they can be identified at that point.
