THE NORTHERN PLAINS
River basin: An area drained by a river system.
Tributary: a stream or river that flows into the main stream or river.
Distributary: a branch of river that flows away from the main stream.
Three major river basins: Ganga basin, Brahmaputra basin & Indus basin.
Delta: The Ganga & the Brahmaputra together forms the largest delta of the world , Sundarbans.
THE PENINSULAR PLATEAU:It is bounded by the Aravali Range in the north- west, the Vindhya & the Satpura ranges in the north and the Eastern Ghats & the Western Ghats towards the south.
THE PENINSULAR PLATEAU is divided into 3 parts :1. The Malwa
