T.H.ER.E.Touristic Hub Emilia-Romagna Est

sealine center is born to study and propose solutions for a sustainable growth of costal environments: a view from the sea (the dynamic, fluid and liquid side) to the land (still, dry).

sealine is a reservoir of ideas, a research group that brings together professionals from different disciplines, academics, entrepreneurs, politicians in order to develop scientific research and innovative projects.

T.H.ER.E. - Touristic Hub Emilia-Romagna East - is a research project developed by the Sealine departmental center of the University of Ferrara and promoted by SIS Spa, representing the 14 municipalities of the Conca Valley, including Riccione, Misano, Cattolica e Gabicce. A study that aims to open practical scenarios, a layered “credibility project” on the development of a tourist infrastructure off the Adriatic coast.

T.H.ER.E. takes place in the sea, about 3 nautical miles from the Adriatic coast, in front of Riccione, the emblematic place of this territory and main promoter of the project.The location is strategic due to the northern Adriatic’s cruise routes and the intersection of the Adriatic metropolis and the via Emilia.

The Riviera Romagnola is a dense, urban reality. the anthropized enviroment of the coastal strip extends beyond the coastline, in the sea. the tourism is predominant. It is an open and attractive territory, always on the move, which has reinvented itself over the years looking to the future.

Now it is in crisis and, while the competition has expanded to the global, the skill to react , often limited to “adjustments” that are fragmented and lack of impact, is no longer sufficient to renew and make attractive the whole system.

T.H.ER.E is an opportunity to return to innovate, experiment and provide a model that can drive the entire coast and sublimate its quality.A smart island, a self-sufficient infrastructure where to apply the most advanced technologies on renewable energy, water and waste management through closed-loop systems.

We don’t think about an isolated cluster but about a new territory, with the complexity of the mainland, in relationship and synergy with the coast, and not a replica.

A tourist hub, equipped for hospitality, with seaside facilities, alternative the coast, a theme park, an underwater park, a port suitable for cruise ships, shipyards, a research incubator on green economy and some residences.

We are working on a credibility project, for the development of the technical, legal, administrative and financial aspects. This kind of project is not provided for by Italian law and only for that we have already started an innovative and experimental procedure. In collaboration with the Ministry of Environment we are preparing the scoping aimed at the VIA procedure.
