Sargas - Clean Coal – proven technology

Sargas concept : A refined combination: Pressurized combustion and Hum Carbonate (HPC) CO2 capture

HPC, CO2 capture process, also called Benfield, introduced 1962. More than 940 full size plants in operation. The most efficient CO2 capture process. Energy need of 1 MJ/ton CO2 captured compared to 4 MJ/ton CO2 captured with Amines. Environmentally friendly and no volatile degradation products. HPC process works only on target gas under pressure.

Pressurized Fluidized beds existing in the chemical production industry since 40 years back and was developed by ABB as Clean Coal 20 years ago (SO2 & NOx) with plants installed in Europe, US & Japan. The plants are compact, clean with high efficiency and availability.

Technical Advantages

Bed temp 850°C Optimized combustion of Coal with calcium utilization 99,5% capture of SO2.

Pressurized combustion: Low oxygen content in combustion gases Better CO2 capture and Purity of CO2High efficiency Low CoESmall size 275 MW: pressure vessel.D14,5 x28 m Less Capex & Compact

Pressurized flue gas means :Enables HPC , best CO2 capture efficient, non toxic , low cost absorbent, matureHigh CO2 partial pressure 2 bara improves CO2 capture efficiency low CoE Low volume flow compact CO2 capture equipment, less steel & material Absorber and desorber same range of temperature efficient regeneration NOx absorbtion reduced to virtually nothing Xtra-Clean

Fluidized bed:Can burn a variety of fuels such as coal, waste coal, lignite, and biomass

Funding of CCS – Allowances and EOR Opportunities

• Sargas CO2 capture cost = lowest in industry

• 2020 Allowances reach EUR 40 ++

• 1 ton of CO2 2-3 Brl of additional oil

• USA infrastructure of CO2 pipeline .

• Canada is building the Alberta Carbon Trunk line, (ACTL) ready 2013

• Aramco in Saudi Arabia is planning the largest EOR project 2012.

• EOR prospecting starting in many countries world wide including Europe
