We are a large family of 105 members at the last count. It is quite possible that we remain acquaintances without really knowing one another in the real sense of the term. In a new series of Know your Rotarian, Rotary Mysore in its weekly meeting last Thursday, had the opportunity of

knowing two new Rotarians, Dr. Anjali Arun and Ravishankar D. Rtn. Ravishankar, an MBA, is the owner of ad agency Orange Media that deals with Media Advertising. From the Editor's PenDear Rotarians,August is the Membership and

Development Month at Rotary. We

already have 105 members, hence I

guess the focus is on engaging our

Rotarians more than bringing in new

members. As the RI President says, “The goal isn't just

bringing in new members. The goal is growing

Colorful extravaganza from Inner Wheelers

Rotary…”. This is where the challenge lies, for each one

of us.

Dr. Anjali Arun is our newest member. I can't resist

mentioning a personal experience in this context. In

December last year, after some post-operative

complications, my father was in ICU with irregular

ECG readings and extremely low blood pressure, and

supposed MCI (myocardial infarction – heart attack, in

layman's language). From 7pm to 8pm, we were all

waiting outside longing for an expert opinion. In

walked the good doctor at 8pm and out he came at

8:30. We swarmed to him, and you know what; he said

it was only a false alarm and my father would be

perfectly fine. He was a Godsend for us. Meet Dr. Arun

Srinivas, cardiologist.

Yours in Rotary,

- Arun B.R. [email protected], 98452 72343

POEM ON ROTARY(from an unknown Rotarian)

.…contd from previous issue

Where there is childhood, Rotary shares values of life.Where there is youth, Rotary shares the ladder of leadership.

Where there is unemployment, Rotary shares career choices.Where there is lack of awareness, Rotary shares vocational training.

Where there is despair, Rotary shares hope.Where there is depression, Rotary shares inspiration.

Where there is weakness, Rotary shares strength. When there is chaos, Rotary shares harmony.

Where there is illness, Rotary shares curing.Where there are disabilities, Rotary shares ability.

Where there are contingencies, Rotary shares might.Where there is poverty, Rotary shares ways to wealth.

Where there is nothing, Rotary shares something.Where there is everything,Rotary sources it and shares it with those who have nothing

CREATIVITY – OUT & ABOUT

• Go fishing – meditative activity, the catch is secondary to the benefits of stillness and silence.

• Work on a farm – visit a village and work on a farm

• Go horse-riding – be lulled by the gentle rhythms of the various gaits

• Look under a stone – at a walk in the countryside. Discover an amazing insect world beneath.

• Spend time in a garden – gardens can be relaxing and inspiring.

• Log-roll down a hill – find yourself a smooth grassy slope, and allow yourself to roll. Let your body relax.

• Climb a tree – at the top survey the land and enjoy the sense of achievement.

• Go on a picnic – try setting up a full-scale table.

• Build a sandcastle - at the beach or in a sand-pit.

Hate:Short is the road that leads from fear to hate.

– Giambattista CastiHate is gained through good deeds as well as bad ones.

– MachiavelliWe have just enough religion to make us hate but not enough to make us love one another.

– Jonathan SwiftIt is human nature to hate those whom we have injured.

– TacitusP e o p l e h a t e , a s t h e y l o v e , unreasonably.

– W.M.ThackerayDetestation of the high is the involuntary homage of the low.

At 8-foot-1, the 31-y e a r - o l d Takioullah is the s e c o n d t a l l e s t living man. Jyoti, 19, weighs just 11 p o u n d s .
